Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease caused by the inability of the pancreas to produce enough insulin, or the body cannot effectively use the insulin produced by the pancreas. Regular aerobic physical activity in people with a diagnosis of DM can improve insulin sensitivity. The prevalence of DM in Indonesia based on Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) in 2018 is 10.9% while in Riau province occupies the third-highest rank in Indonesia. This study aims to determine the description of physical activity and blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus at the Sidomulyo Health Center, Pekanbaru City. This study is descriptive with cross-sectional design. The sampling technique in this study was a total sampling of 24 people with DM type 2. Data collection for physical activity variables was carried out using a questionnaire included in PAL (Physical Activity Level). Measurement of blood sugar levels in patients with DM is done by taking respondent capillary blood then measured using a glucometer (Easy Touch GCU). Univariate analysis was carried out to analyze the variables of physical activity and blood sugar levels which were then presented in the form of frequency distribution tables and narratives. The results showed a description of the level of physical activity in respondents who suffer from DM as many as 16 people (66.7%) with mild physical activity levels, and 8 people (33.3%) with moderate levels of physical activity. Description of fasting blood sugar levels of respondents as many as 19 people (79.2%) had controlled fasting blood sugar levels, and 5 people (20.8%) had uncontrolled fasting blood sugar levels.

Abstract

Red beans are a protein food source, so their role in improving nutrition is significant, besides being rich in protein, red beans are also a source of carbohydrates, fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Cupcake is a food made from flour and is widely favored by all groups. The purpose of this study is to discover the effect of the substitution of wheat flour with red bean flour on the sensory properties, protein content and glicemix index in the cupcake. The cupcake products with concentration treatments varying 100%: 0%, 40%: 60%, 50%: 50%, 60%: 40% have been hedonic tested. It can be concluded from the results of this study that the red bean cupcake with the best treatment was a concentration of 50%: 50% Based on the sensory properties of the cupcake on the color and taste, meaning that there was an influence from each treatment on the cupcake. The protein content of red bean cupcake on the selected product, was higher at 8.75% compared to 100% control of wheat flour at 7.49%. The glycemic index value on the selected red bean cupcakes was 58,1.

Abstract

In elementary school-age students (SD), most of their food comes from the consumption of snacks in the school canteen. Currently time, there is a great need for learning media that contains information about healthy school snacks. Media in the form of comic storybooks is a medium that is very liked by children.  The aim of this study is to know the effectiveness of comics media on behavioral changes in choosing healthy snacks in elementary school students. This study is a quasi-experimental study with a non-equivalent control group design. Hypothesis analysis using paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test. The number of samples in this study was 55 students who were taken by purposive sampling with several inclusion criteria at two SD in Pekanbaru City. Wilcoxon's test of knowledge and attitudes showed p value <0.05 in the intervention group and the control group. This shows that the use of educational comics for healthy snacks for elementary school students has proven to be significant in increasing students' knowledge and behavior in choosing healthy snacks. However, the comic was not yet effective in increasing knowledge and behavior as seen from the mean value in the control group which was greater than the intervention group in all research variables.

Abstract

Kegiatan edukasi perilaku hidup bersih dan sehat (PHBS) untuk anak usia pra sekolah di sekolah Res Cogitans Pekanbaru telah dilakukan. Kegiatan ini mengemukakan edukasi secara menarik dan praktek langsung kepada anak agar anak merasakan pengalaman belajar secara langsung baik melalui gambar, video dan praktek individual. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah meningkatkan pengetahuan dan kesadaran anak usia pra sekolah akan pentingnya perilaku hidup bersih dan sehat dan mengetahui kemampuan anak pra sekolah dalam melakukan kegiatan cuci tangan dan sikat gigi. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah dengan mengetahui terlebih dahulu tingkat pengetahuan awal anak tentang PHBS, pembacaan buku cerita terkait gambaran PHBS kepada anak yang dilakukan oleh guru disekolah, pemberian edukasi dari tim pengabdian masyarakat kepada anak melalui video dan gambar, praktek yang dilakukan masing-masing anak melalui alat dan bahan dan evaluasi berupa posttest. Sasaran kegiatan ini adalah anak pra sekolah di sekolah Res Cogitans Pekanbaru. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah diperoleh peningkatan pengetahuan anak pra sekolah tentang PHBS dari rata-rata nilai 68 menjadi 85. Hasil praktek diperoleh 87% anak sudah bisa melakukan cuci tangan yang benar dan 78% anak sudah bisa melakukan sikat gigi yang benar. Kegiatan ini memerlukan dukungan pihak sekolah untuk selalu menekankan agar anak-anak melakukan cuci tangan dan sikat gigi dengan langkah yang benar dengan tujuan hal tersebut menjadi suatu kebiasaan anak menuju perilaku hidup sehat. Kegiatan ini diharapkan untuk bisa dikembangkan dengan konsep PHBS yang lainnya seperti UKS dan kebersihan lingkungan.
