Abstract

This paper looks at one of the unique cultures of Indonesia, the Minangkabau, in West Sumatera Province. Minangkabau is known as one of the biggest cultures in the world practicing matrilineal system in its family. This system means that every child who is born follows his or her mother`s clan line. Matrilineal education integrates religious and cultural values to their children. According to this system, there are four central figures that have important roles in educating young generations of Minangkabau. They are Bundo Kanduang, Ninik Mamak, Alim Ulama, and Cadiak Pandai. The purpose of this paper is to explore the roles of these four central figures of Minangkabau in integrating religious and cultural values to the young generation. The data for this paper uses secondary data, namely the study of literature. Data analysis techniques in this study are three roots of reduction, presentation, and verification of data. Results show that each of the four central figures has different roles but they are united to integrate the education system of the Minangkabau community.

Abstract

The problem of distance lectures is quite a lot, it is expected to encourage the development of digital flipbook-based teaching books so that they can be accessed easily and quickly by students who can help smooth lecture activities, especially in social studies learning. Another important reason, this digital flipbook-based textbook was developed: first, there is no social studies textbook integrated with local wisdom; second, the absence of learning materials based on digital flipbooks that have been used in previous online and offline learning; third, the lack of values education based on Malay local wisdom in social studies learning. The model used in this development research is a 4D model from (Four D Models) according to Thiagarajan. This development model was chosen because it aims to produce products in the form of social studies learning materials based on digital flipbooks integrated with local wisdom.

Abstract

The development of technology has initiated new teaching systems. In teaching speaking, there are issues about whether the students should learn in the class or outside of the class using technology. This article describes the practice of students' digital English literacy practice at SMAN Kapuas to study this digital practice's pedagogical potential when students interact directly or through social networks such as live streaming on YouTube or Instagram, video calls, or chatting with friends. A mixed-method study using questionnaires and interviews analyzed deeper and richer data. The results show that many sentences were still wrong when spoken in class. However, they can understand speaking lessons based on digital literacy, which they play or watch outside of the class. This implied that students should be instructed in alternative speaking methods. They may enhance their speaking abilities more purposefully, carefully, and often by using suitable language acquisition tools outside of the class.
