Abstract

The majority of bacterial infection therapy uses antibiotics which result in resistance and dangerous side effects. If the wrong method is used, it is necessary to develop antibiotics from new compounds that are effective against bacteria and are able to avoid the occurrence of antibiotic resistance by using organotin and dithiocarbamate compounds. The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of dibutyl tin (IV) bis-methyl dithiocarbamate on Salmonella typhi and Escherichia coli bacteria. This compound was synthesized by an in situ technique by adding methanol to methyl amine + carbon disulfide + metal dibutyl tin (IV) dichloride which was identified using 13C NMR, FTIR and 1H NMR. Then, the antibacterial activity was tested using the paper disc diffusion technique with concentrations of 50 ppm, 70 ppm and 90 ppm using NA (Nutrient Agar) media. The results of this study obtained results in the form of a synthetic powder of 1.28 g with a compound percentage of 25%. The results of the antibacterial activity test with a concentration of 90 ppm resulted in the largest inhibition zone with a very strong category at 27.33 mm Salmonella typhi and 26.48 mm Escherichia coli. The compounds in this research have been successfully synthesized and form an overview of the structure of complex compounds and have very strong antibacterial agent activity.

Abstract

Antioxidant Activity of Duku Fruit Peel (Lancium domesticum Corr) Extract Fractions One of the factors affecting the antioxidant activity of duku fruit peel extract is the process of separating the mixture through fractionation. Duku fruit peel has great potential as a medicinal plant that can counteract free radicals (antioxidants). This experiment aims to analyze the antioxidant content of water, n-hexane, and ethyl acetate fractions of duku fruit peel extract (Lasium domesticum Corr) using an in vitro method with 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) indicator measured using UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The maceration process produces Duku fruit peel extract using methanol as a solvent. The extract was then fractionated using n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and water solvents. The antioxidant activity of duku fruit peel extract was assessed at concentrations of 200 ppm to 1000 ppm with an increase in concentration every 200 ppm with quercetin acting as a positive control. UV-Vis spectrophotometer was used to measure the absorption of DPPH at a maximum wavelength of 517 nm. The IC50 values of n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and water fractions of duku skin are 780.261 ppm, 590.314 ppm, and 796.261 ppm, respectively. Antioxidants found in duku fruit peel, namely n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and water fractions are categorized as having feeble activity. Salah satu faktor yang mempengaruhi aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak kulit buah duku adalah proses pemisahan campuran melalui fraksinasi. Kulit buah duku mempunyai potensi besar sebagai tanaman obat yang dapat menangkal radikal bebas (antioksidan). Eksperimen ini memiliki tujuan guna menganalisis kadar antioksidan fraksi air, n-heksana, dan etil asetat ekstrak kulit buah duku (Lasium domesticum Corr) memakai metode in vitro dengan indikator 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) yang diukur menggunakan spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Proses maserasi digunakan untuk menghasilkan ekstrak kulit buah Duku dalam pelarut metanol. Selanjutnya ekstrak difraksinasi menggunakan pelarut n-heksana, etil asetat, dan air. Aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak kulit buah duku dinilai pada konsentrasi 200 ppm sampai 1000 ppm dengan kenaikkan konsentrasi tiap 200 ppm dengan kuersetin berperan sebagai kontrol positif. Spektrofotometer UV-Vis dipergunakan untuk pengukuran serapan DPPH pada panjang gelombang maksimum 517 nm. Nilai IC50 fraksi n-heksana, etil asetat, dan air kulit buha duku berturut-turut 780,261 ppm, 590,314 ppm, dan 796,261 ppm. Antioksidan yang terdapat pada kulit buah duku yaitu fraksi n-heksana, etil asetat, dan air dikategorikan mempunyai aktivitas yang sangat lemah.
