Abstract

This research aimed to evaluate soil quality criteria in Sigi Biromaru District Sigi Regency based on some types of land use. The research method used was descriptive-explorative method which its variables were conducted through field surveys and supported by soil analysis from laboratory. Results of soil analysis were then assessed its quality by using scoring method at each indicator. Results of this research showed that soil in Sigi Biromaru District Sigi Regency based land use had soil quality criteria ranged from healthy soil to less healthy soil. On mixed farming area had the highest scoring value 2.83 (healthy soil criteria), whilst rice field had scoring value 2.66 (less healthy soil criteria) and on horticulture area had the lowest scoring value 2.5 (less healthy soil criteria).Key Words: Land use, soil quality.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the physical properties of mineral soil and peat soil in the area of oil palm plantations. This study used survey method directly at the test site and proceed it with sampling for material analyzes in laboratories. Soil analyzes carried out in laboratories of Soil Science, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Tadulako. Research conducted on 1st October to 15th January 2016. The determination of soil sampling locations for material analysis in laboratory determined intentionally (purposive sampling) at 2 units land. Soil sampling conducted in block 3 and block 9 for mineral soil. For peat soil contained in block 20 and block 24. All four blocks have the physical properties vary, bulk density is very low to moderate, permeability fast to quick fast, porosity good to porous, aggregate less steady to no steady.  This is because the soil was so rooted therefore affect during sampling process. Keywords : Mineral soil, Oil Palm, physical properties, peat soil.

Abstract

The research aims were to determine some chemical characteristics of soil under different position in slope land and to determine soil chemical characteristics under several toposequencein Poboya watershed of Palu.  Descriptive explorative method was employed to analyze data collected and the research variables were approached through field survey and supported by results of soil analysis in the Environment Laboratory of Faculty of Agriculture, Tadulako University.  The research was conducted in June – Desember 2015.  The differences of soil sites in slope position affected the soil chemical characteristics.  Soil pH was acid ranging from 4.55-5.78in the upper slope but slightly acid ranging from 4.65-6.28in the lower slope. Similarly, C-organic, N-total, C/N ratio, P-total, K-total and CEChad a tendency to be higher in the lower slope than in the upper slope.  Saturated bases were higher in the upper slope than in the lower slope.  Saturated basesalso tended to increase with soil depth at the upper slope.  In contrast, P-total and K-total tended to decrease with soil depth in the lower slope. Keywords: Poboya watershed, and Slope.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to observe of soil chemical properties of paddy land which use changed into a mixed plantation at Panau Village Tawaeli District. Soil analysis was carried out at the Laboratory of Soil Science Unit of the Faculty of Agriculture, Tadulako University. The method used in this research is a field survey by reviewing and determining the location of sample observation point on each land use (paddy field and mixed garden) and continued with take the undisturb soil sampling with depth (0-20) cm from  Top soil using ground drill. In the mixed garden area, samples were taken in 4 different locations and paddy fields in 4 different locations, so that the total number of composite soil samples were 8 samples. The results showed that the changes in soil chemical properties on each land use (paddy fields and mixed garden land) vary widely with slightly acid pH to slightly alkalis. C-Organic high, to very low. N-total is moderate to very low. P-total is high to moderate. K-total is high, to very low. CEC is high, to very low. Differences place cause changes in soil chemical properties. Keywords : Soil Chemical Characteristics, Paddy Land And Mixed Garden Lands

Abstract

This study aims to determine the physical properties of the soil at various slopes of  watershed Poboya Palu City so that it can be used as a reference / consideration in the management of the physical properties of the soil, so that the land can be properly utilized. This research is a descriptive exploratory approach of variables through field survey and supported the results of laboratory analysis of the soil in the Environment Faculty of Agriculture, University Tadulako. This research was conducted in June 2015 and September 2015. The results showed that the physical characteristics of the soil at various gradients of watershed Poboya highly variable, namely the soil texture is dominated by medium-sized particles with a class of argillaceous texture, permeability tend fast to very fast, very high porosity, soil bulk density is relatively modest, and the organic matter content is low to moderate. Based on the physical properties of soil slope changes the value of the texture in the form of sand, silt, and clay is low, increased permeability, increased porosity, bulk density decreases, and increased organic matter. Vertically, the physical characteristics of the soil changes according to the depth value, the texture in the form of sand, silt, and clay is low, permeability increased, decreased porosity, bulk density increased, and organic matter decline.

Abstract

The  objective of the research was to identify  the level of soil development in paddy soil in Kaluku Tinggu Village Donggala Regency Central Sulawesi. The method used in this research was a survey method in which observation and soil sample were taken systematically using a grid system.  The distance between observation points was 250 m.  The observation on soil sample distribution is carried out by using soil auger.  Soil profile for observation of soil morphological characteristics was determined based on the result of the soil auger data.  The data of soil resulted from field and laboratory analysis were used to compare soil characteristics among horizon.  The average of each parameter was calculated using formula of balance average. The morphological soil characteristics observation on paddy field showed that the profile thickness was 0-80 cm, horizon thickness  >12 cm, soil color was  grayish to grayish red, texture was sandy loam and clay loam, soil structure was granular and rounded blocky, and soil consistency were sticky and plastic. Such soil characteristics indicated that the soil development was at a recent stage.  A long period under submerged condition has impeded the soil development.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the morphological characteristics and classification of Inceptisol on several different land systems in Jeneponto . Sampling was carried out at 4 profiles in Tamalatea, Bangkala and West Bangkala Regency. This study as a descriptive exploratory study by ground surveys in the field and is supported by data from laboratory analysis. Results of soil morphological showed are solum shallow, dominated by clay texture, color range varies from yellowish gray to dark brown, angular blocky structure with average development level, hard consistency when dry. Land classified into sub order usteps with a great group haplustepts, there are four sub-groups namely udertic haplustepts, oxic haplustepts, lithic haplustepts and vertic haplustepts. Key Words : Inceptisol, morphological characteristics, soil classification
