Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to describe the text of the novel Sitti Nurbaya by MarahRusli is associated with a grave and Sitti Nurbaya soap opera. The linkage of these three variables in the literary tourism frame (literary tourism) is a new approach in the study of literature. The literary tourism approach which is now looking for that form departs from the approach of literary sociology, literary psychology, literary anthropology and others that have been established as literary theories. In this analysis, an intertextuality approach will be used. Data were collected through observation of novel texts, SittiNurbaya soap operas and direct observations to the SittiNurbaya tomb cave located on the summit of Mount Padang, West Sumatra. Data was also obtained from interviews with officers and visitors of the SittiNurbaya Park attraction. Data analysis is intertext data analysis by juxtaposing novel texts, soap operas and the existence of SittiNurbaya’s grave cave. The results showed that the story of the Sitti Nurbaya novel became its own charm in the development of tourism in the city of Padang, West Sumatra. The SittiNurbaya tomb cave is part of Taman Sitti Nurbaya which is created with domestic and foreign tourists on certain days. As a legendary story, the Sitti Nurbaya story is believed by the local community to have occurred, even though Marah Rusli’s creation is fictional. The Sitti Nurbaya Park was used as the location for the Sitti Nurbaya soap opera played by Novia Kolopaking as Sitti Nurbaya, Gusti Randa as Samsul Bahri, HM Damsyik as Datuk Maringgih and other famous artists. Even the new bridge that was built towards the Mount Padang hill was named the Sitti Nurbaya Bridge. Thus the study of novel texts, grave caves and Sitti Nurbaya soap operas supports the concept and approach of literary tourism (literary tourism).

Abstract

The Sitti Nurbaya research on the TV-series’ form is due to under consideration that, thisshow is to be very fond of Indonesian society. The TVRI and Trans TV-version of SittiNurbaya`s TV-series happened to provoke a polemic in mass media. The director and theproducer of this series obtained compliments and scorn, even just in order to bechallenged by a group of audience. Another audience threatened in order to stop the SittiNurbaya series show because it is considered to be able to bring down the Minangkabaupeople’s prestige. The problem of the research is how the Sitti Nurbaya`s novel and TVseriesaudiovisual text structure are? flow does the critics’ perspective watch the TVRIand Trans TV-version of Sitti Nurbaya`s series? What kind of ideology does support theshow of TVRI and Trans TV-version of Sitti Nurbaya`s series?The theory which is used in this research is popular culture, ideology, inter-text andperception theories. This kind of studies model refers to the opinion which stated that thecultural is always political and popular culture becomes a hegemony and ideology.The destructive sign system transposition such as, distortion and deconstruction, in largeof number can be found in Sitti Nurbaya`s TV-series’ Trans TV show. This text destructioncovers plot, background, character and also the extrinsic aspects. The form which isevaluated as the appreciative part is, the story is returned to its context.The television media capitalism strength adapted - Sitti Nurbaya`s novel as literature text- into TV-series form through text transposition i.e. crossing, destructing, erasing,humiliating, and protesting reference text politically. That thing as postmodern culturalphenomenon because the cultural studies creators evaluate modem cultural has failed,because gives high cultural more attention and neglects low cultural which is identical withthe popular culture. The difference on that show version can not let go of from thehegemony or media power. TVRI station is the only station in Indonesia, belongs to thegovernment while Trans TV belongs to the private. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan nilai pendidikan karakter yang terkandung di dalam novel Catatan Tentang Hujan karya Anindya Frista. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif.Data diperoleh dengan pembacaan teks dan penerapan metode dokumentasi dengan teknik catat sebagai metode pokok atau utama dan metode observasi sebagai metode pelengkap. Data dianalisis dengan metode interpretatif atau penafsiran atau hermeneutika, selanjutnya disajikan secara deskriptif dengan teknik induktif-deduktif. Hasil penelitiannya adalah dietemukan beberapa karakter yang dituangkan dalam novel. Karakter dimaksud adalah karakter kerja keras, tanggung jawab, bersahabat / komunikatif, jujur, disiplin, mandiri, cinta damai, rasa ingin tahu, dan peduli sosial.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan unsur intrinsik yang terkandung dalam roman Salah Asuhan karya Abdoel Moeis. Objek penelitian ini berupa karya sastra. Karena itu, penelitian ini merupakan penelitian sastra atau disebut juga penelitian kualitatif. Data penelitian dikumpulkan dengan metode observasi dan metode dokumentasi dengan teknik catat. Selanjutnya, data dianalisis dengan metode hermeneutika atau metode verstehen. Hasil penelitian disajikan secara deskriptif dengan teknik induktif dan deduktif.

Abstract

The life journey of the writer Pramoedya Ananta Toer is filled with controversy. On one hand, he has been harshly criticized; on the other, he has been highly praised. Pramoedya and his works are scarcely mentioned in literature education in Indonesian schools. Strangely, abroad, this author from Blora, Central Java, enjoys great renown. This raises a fundamental question: what is Pramoedya’s position in the landscape of Indonesian literature? This study applies the theory of diachronic reception by Robert Jauss and Wolfgang Iser. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method, drawing on data sources such as books, magazines, newspapers, journals, and reviews discussing Pramoedya. Additional sources include Pramoedya’s tetralogy novels, Bumi Manusia, Anak Semua Bangsa, Jejak langkah, Rumah Kacaand as well as the film adaptation of Bumi Manusia. The findings reveal that the controversy surrounding Pramoedya’s life is closely tied to the political landscape in Indonesia between 1950 and 1966. During this period, the Institute of People’s Culture Lembaga Kebudayaan Rakyat (Lekra) emerged, ideologically opposed to the Cultural Manifesto movement (Manifes Kebudayaan). As a member of Lekra, Pramoedya sharply criticized Manifes Kebudayaan writers through his polemical writings. Several works by Manifest Kebudayaan affiliated authors were burned, and the writers imprisoned. Conversely, Pramoedya’s own works were banned and withdrawn from circulation. He himself was detained in Jakarta and later imprisoned on Buru Island. Through the lens of diachronic reception theory, this study identifies elements that may open a path toward reconciliation.

Abstract

This present study was intended to identify the transformation of the novel Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk into the film Sang Penari (the Dancer). The novel, which was written by Ahmad Tohari, was adopted into the film which was directed by Ifa Ifansyah. The film was highly appreciated due its highly interesting acting, plot and theme, in which it was narrated that the art tradition of ronggeng was interfered with politics. This present study is a qualitative one with intertextual analysis. The data were collected using documentation and observation methods. The document used was the novel Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk and two CD’s of the film Sang Penari. The observation method was used to view and observe visually the presentation of the film Sang Penari. The film which was presented on one of the private television stations was also watched. This present study analyzed the relation between the text of the novel and the visual text and environmental context of the supporting community of the ronggeng traditional art. The result of the study showed that the transformation of the novel Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk into the film Sang Penari (the Dancer) led to textual transformation such as deconstruction and text appreciation. The textual deconstruction took place as several important scenes in the novel did not appear on the film. The textual appreciation took place as the historical event G 30 S PKI (the Indonesian Communist Movement which took place on 30 September) was added, which the novel did not contain. In the novel, which was edited in 1982, such a bad historical event in Indonesia was not clearly mentioned.
