Abstract

Dwinanti et al, 2019. Siamese Fighting Fish (Betta splendens) Masculinization Using Coconut Water (Cocos nucifera) With Immersion Embrio Method. pp. 74-81. Most of male ornamental fish  have attractive color than female including Siamese fighting fish. Thus, male production is more preferable by farmer due to high demand on it. Sex reversal is a technology that reverses the direction of genital development from female to male (masculinization) or male to female (feminization). This research aims to determine the sex ratio of male fish resulting from immersion of Siamese fighting fish embryo with coconut water. This research was conducted at Basic Fisheries Laboratory Program Study of Aquaculture, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University on February-March 2018. This research used randomized complete design (RCD) method with three treatments and three replications with 0% (control), 10% and 20%. The results showed concentration 10% resulted the best male percentage of siamese fighting fish i.e 91.06%. The highest hatching percentage was 90%, (at 0% concentration). The highest percentage of survival rate of Siamese fighting fish was 89% (concentration 20%). Embryonic immersion with coconut water can affect the percentage of hatching. The concentration at >10% didn’t give a good result of hatching percentage of siamese fighting fish. Water quality during maintenance were temperature 27.3-28oC, pH 5.9-6.3 and DO 4.2-5 mg.L-1.

Abstract

Feed is an important factor in the success of cultivation, feed is also the component that costs the most that is about 70% of the total production cost. Therefore, it is necessary to do techniques that can increase production, one of which is by improving feed nutrition using EM4 probiotics. In addition, it can also be by applying bioflok technology that utilizes bacteria that can process aquaculture waste which is a problem in water quality into a continuously available source of fish feed.  This study aims to find out if the application of bioflok and feed technology with EM4 can increase cultivation production. There are 3 treatments that will be used, namely, P1 (bioflok application), P2 (EM4 application), P3 (without bioflok and EM4). The fish used is pearl catfish seed (Clarias gariepinus) with a size of 6.5±0.5 cm with a dense spread of 150 heads / m3. Maintenance is carried out for 30 days (1 month) with the frequency of feeding

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh ekstrak daun pepaya (Carica papaya L) dalam menekan populasi bakteri Vibrio sp. koloni hijau pada media pemelihara dan tubuh udang vaname (Litopenaeus vannamei). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Juli-Agustus 2018 di PT. SyAqua Indonesia Serang, Banten. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan perlakuan terdiri dari konsentrasi ekstrak daun pepaya yaitu 30 mg/L, 45 mg/L dan 0 mg/L sebagai kontrol. Parameter yang diamati selama penelitian adalah kelangsungan hidup udang, kualitas air (pH, suhu, salinitas, amonia dan alkalinitas), profil kepadatan bakteri yang terdiri dari total bakteri Vibrio sp., total koloni hijau, total koloni kuning dan rasio koloni hijau terhadap total bakteri. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian ekstrak daun pepaya mampu menekan populasi bakteri lebih baik dibandingkan dengan kontrol. Konsentrasi tertinggi, 45 mg/L memberikan nilai proteksi terbaik terhadap vibriosis dengan nilai kelangsungan hidup mencapai 22,5% sedangkan kontrol hanya 9,5% dan P1 18,6%. Parameter kualitas air selama pemeliharaan masih dalam kondisi kisaran optimum.
