Abstract

Hypertension is the most common non Hypertension is recorded as one of the cardiovascular diseases with the highest number of sufferers in Gorontalo, and is a global health issue. An increase in blood pressure that is not controlled will cause various dangerous complications such as disorders of the kidneys, heart and brain. To prevent complications, it is necessary to carry out non-pharmacological interventions in addition to pharmacological therapy as an effort to control blood pressure in hypertensive patients in the long term. Progressive muscle relaxation is an independent treatment option that can help hypertensive patients control their blood pressure. The purpose of this community service is to empower health cadres to increase community knowledge and skills in applying progressive muscle relaxation therapy as an effort to control blood pressure. Activities in this community service consist of forming a group of health cadres caring for hypertension who are trained in progressive relaxation therapy, then followed by assisting the cadres in providing education to the target community for hypertension sufferers. Evaluation of this activity was carried out by measuring the knowledge of cadres through data analysis from filling out questionnaires and measuring the blood pressure of hypertension sufferers. By the results of the pretest and posttest it was found that there was an increase in knowledge of 50% in health cadres and there was a decrease in systolic blood pressure of 29 mmHg and a decrease in systolic blood pressure of 12 mmHg in hypertensive subjects. From the results of this activity it can be implied that the application of progressive muscle relaxation can be used as alternatice intervention to control blood pressure in hypertensive patients as home care.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic condition that occurs when there is an increase in glucose levels in the blood because the body cannot produce enough insulin hormones effectively. Gorontalo Province is also an area where the prevalence of type 2 DM sufferers is quite high. This is caused by insufficient self-management and insufficient self-awareness to improve health. Improving the self-management of type 2 diabetes patients can be improved through a motivational interviewing program. The aim of this community service activity is to empower community cadres and social groups through a motivational interviewing program for people with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The activity is carried out in two stages, in the first stage providing outreach in the form of lectures and discussions about type 2 diabetes mellitus and motivational program training interviewing. After that, cadres and community social groups provide assistance to type 2 diabetes mellitus patients for one week. Then in the second stage, the results of the mentoring are evaluated. The evaluation results showed that there was a decrease in blood sugar of 53.57 mg/dL. From the results of this activity, it can be concluded that the motivational interviewing program is recommended for self-management of type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients

Abstract

Gorontalo ranks 7th in the number of Diabetes Mellitus sufferers out of 35 provinces in Indonesia with prevalence increasing from 1.3% in 2013 to 2.4% in 2018. High prevalence and morbidity can be reduced by improving the quality of nursing care in hospitals through standardization of nursing care for diabetes mellitus patients. This research aims to develop electronic-based nursing care standards (E-SAK) and to improve the quality of nursing care for diabetes mellitus patients by conducting prototype trials. This research uses a pre-experimental design research type with a one shot case study approach where measurements of the effectiveness of the application and its level of usefulness are carried out after the intervention. The type of sampling used total sampling by taking all 30 nurses in the internal room. The nursing care standards used in this application are prepared based on nursing professional organization standards (PPNI), a list of diagnoses that form the application database using an evidence-based nursing approach based on the results of a literature review. The research instrument used in this study was the SUS (System Usability Scale) questionnaire to test the ease of use of the application by nurses. The SUS questionnaire was adapted from research conducted by (Alfatoni et al., 2020) and has gone through a reliability test with a Cronbach's Alpha value > 0.06. From the statistical test results, it was found that the average usability score was 89, which means the level of satisfaction means that this application prototype is acceptable or easy to use and the level of usefulness is high by respondents. Thus, this application can be used by hospitals to improve the quality of nursing care services for diabetes mellitus patients.
