Abstract

One technology to support production speed is electric motors with high performance, efficiency, dynamic speed and good speed responses. DC motors are one type of electric motor which is used in the industry. Sliding Mode Control (SMC) is the robust non-linear control. The basic theory regarding SMC is presented. The SMC design which is implemented is the speed control of the DC motor is analyzed. The controller is implemented in simulation using MATLAB / Simulink environment. The step response and signal tracking test unit are carried out. The results show that SMC has a better performance compare to PID which is faster settling time and no overshoot and undershoot.

Abstract

This paper discusses the simulation of the Fuzzy-PID hybrid algorithm as a method for controlling the speed of a DC motor compared to the usual PID method. Comparisons were also made to the membership functions used in the fuzzy logic fuzzification process. Membership functions that are used are triangular, trapezoidal, and gaussian shaped function with each having 3, 5, and 7 as the number of membership to be compared. The performance of this control is compared by looking at the results of the step unit responses and the ability in tracking signals. The simulation results show that the Fuzzy-PID algorithm is superior to the ordinary PID algorithm but slower on computation time. The results of the comparison in the fuzzification process shows that the more number used in membership function, the faster the response reaches the set point, while the difference in shape has little effect on the response. The best results are achieved by fuzzy triangle shaped function with 7 membership number.

Abstract

The corona pandemic has caused global problems, including Indonesia. One way to reduce the spread of the coronavirus is to wash your hands frequently with soap or hand sanitizer. Many types of hand sanitizers were developed to support efforts to prevent the spread of the corona. For this reason, this paper proposes two types of Contactless Hans Sanitizer (CHS) prototypes. Function tests and user satisfaction tests were carried out to determine the performance of the CHS. The test results show that type A CHS which only works fully electrically is more reliable than type B which works with electrical and mechanical systems. Of the 10 respondents, 90% chose CHS type A.

Abstract

Across the year, the needs of Indonesians in the use of electronic equipment are increasing, which results in higher electricity usage. Because most of the electricity load uses AC power, in the application of a DC power source such as solar cells, an inverter that converts DC to AC power is needed. Therefore, the inverter is one of the tools that are widely developed in power electronics. The output voltage from simulation and real hardware is a sine wave with some distortion due to lack of filter; therefore, there occurs a harmonic. The voltage and frequency were also measured with a multimeter. The result shows that both voltage and frequency are closed to the design specification which is 220V 50Hz with the voltage and frequency difference of 1.09% and 0.4%, respectively.

Abstract

Electric vehicle (EVs) is the main solution to reduce air pollution from the transportation sector. The main component of an EV is the propulsion system, energy storage system, and auxiliary system. The propulsion system is consisting of a motor and its drives, while the energy storage system is a battery or other energy storage and its management system. Whereas the auxiliary is like a lamp and air conditioner. This research aims to review some electric motors and their prototyping method of an EV. There are several methods for programming electric motor drives in EVs. One of the fastest solutions in fast prototyping in the motor drive of an EV is using the Hardware in the Loop (HIL) method. These papers can be used as references to determine the type of traction motor used in EVs and the method for doing rapid prototyping of it.

Abstract

This research enhances Smart Home Systems by integrating an Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) for seamless power source switching between the grid and a backup battery, ensuring uninterrupted operation during power disruptions. An Automatic Battery Charging (ABC) system optimizes battery charging based on its condition, improving energy storage and efficiency. The system provides on-site electrical equipment control and sensor data access via a Human Machine Interface (HMI). Remote monitoring and control through the Blynk app offer convenience. Additionally, an energy consumption estimation feature allows users to estimate billing costs, with the Battery State of Charge (SoC) indicating the remaining battery capacity. Hardware testing showed the system's reliability with a 2-4 second ATS response and ±2-second ABC response. This research offers homeowners reliable power continuity and energy optimization. It contributes to IoT-based smart home systems, demonstrating ATS and ABC effectiveness, advancing both theory and practice for modern smart living.
