Abstract

The goals of this research is to find out correlation between public share ownership proportion with firm performance and to find out the influence of public share to firm’s performance (ROI). Correlational analysis was done by means of contingency table, and statistics test is Chi square. Rate Chi square is 2290,067, whereas statistics test rate with alpha 0.05 and degree of freedom 16 is 26,296. Thereb, it could be concluded that there is positive and significant correlation between public share proportion with firm’s performance at firm registered at Jakarta Stock Exchange. Punlic share proportion has unequal influence to firm’s performance. If public share is less than 40%, to be found out result that public share does not have positive and significant influence to firm’s performance. Whereas, if public share proportion reaches 40% or more, regression analysis result shows positive influence. Public share proportion variable has positive influence to ROI. It means, if public share proportion at firm increases, firm’s degree of ROI will be higher too. This one reflects the greater public share proportion share the better firm’s performance (ROI). If public share ownership rises 1%, ROI will rises 0,833%. By t test, to be obtained rate of t stat. For regression coefficient as 6,559, whereas tα/2; 114 = 1,981. Thereby, public share proportion variable as presented above has significant influence to firm’s performance (ROI). Keywords : Public Sare Proportion; Firm’s Performance.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is, (1) to know the influence of intelligence quotient (IQ) to students’ achievement measured by cumulative achievement index. (2) To fathom the influence of motivation towards students’ cumulative achievement index, and(3) to apprehend the influence of IQ and motivation simultaneously against students’ cumulative achievement index. Parameter coefficient of IQ and respective motivation is 0.0267 and 0.0332. It means of students’ IQ at one unit will increase cumulative achievement index at 0.0332. Both are significant at 905 level of confidence (a=0.01). Based on parameter coefficient the two independent variables, that is to say IQ and motivation, could be concluded as well that motivation has more significant influence compare with IQ toward students’ achievement. Thereby this research shows that cumulative achievement index does not merely depend on IQ, but extremely determined by students’ motivation. The implication of this research is to raise students’ motivation and to create conducive climate to prompt students to motivate themselves.

Abstract

Indonesia is the biggest palm oil producer and exporter in the world. In 2008, Indonesia contributed 34.3% of total palm oil world production and 84.6% of production was exported as crude palm oil (CPO). In the world’s market, the growth of palm oil consumption and import were 9.66%/year and .34%/year. In supply side, palm oil production and export increased 7.94%/year and 9.55%/year respectively. It reflected global excess demand which influence palm oil price in world market, 1.69%/year. Demand for Indonesian CPO also to fulfill the raw material for energy. This situation will influence several aspects in Indonesian palm oil industry, in order to ensure the availability of palm oil to fulfill national necessity for cooking oil industry and bio diesel industry. The objectives of this study is to analyze (a) the correlation between world petroleum oil price with CPO world price, (b) the effect of petroleum oil price toward domestic palm oil demand, (c) the effect of petroleum oil price for 18,71% toward several aspects in Indonesian palm oil industry by econometric simulation. An econometric approach was applied in this study by using annual data 1979-2008 periods. The findings of the study show that (a) since 2000 there was the strong correlation between world petroleum oil price with CPO world price, that reflect that CPO is used for raw material of bio diesel industry; (b) petroleum oil price positively influenced domestic palm oil demand, and (c) the rise of world petroleum oil price will affect the domestic cooking oil industry, i.e. the cooking oil supply will decrease, and the cooking oil price will increase due to the lack of CP O for cooking oil industry, while the bio diesel industry was start to grow.

Abstract

Indonesia is the world's CPO producer country, and at the same time, Indonesia also the largest exporter of CPO in global market. Some of the main countries that are becoming export destinations for Indonesia CPO are India, China, the European Union, USA and Pakistan. Empirically, it is seen that the phenomenon of widening gap in Chinese vegetable oil consumption patterns, where consumption growth is higher than domestic production growth. This boosted Indonesia's CPO exports to China and subsequently had an impact on the Indonesia-China trade balance. Analytical method used is ordinary least square (OLS), which is arranged in two-equation models. Findings of this study conclude that (a) Indonesia's CPO exports to China are affected by the increase in consumption of vegetable oils in China. This is consistent with the expected hypothesis; (b) the value of Indonesia's CPO exports to China has a positive impact and helps reduce Indonesia's trade balance deficit. This is consistent with the research hypothesis. Indonesia's CPO exports have a positive impact on the Indonesia-China trade balance, in particular contributing to overcome the Indonesia-China trade balance deficit. This research shows that CPO is Indonesia's strategic commodity that helps overcome Indonesia's trade balance deficit.
