Abstract

The application of science and technology (iptek) for society is one strategic way to encourage and to increase awareness about the significance of mangrove ecosystem for environment and human being. Ohoi Ngilngof is one ohoi (village) located in the Southeast Maluku District which is largely coastal area. One of the most perceived development activities that have crucial impact to the coastal environment in this region is the eviction of coastal land for expanding roads and constructing talud. This condition caused considerable pressure on the coastal area of Ohoi Ngilngof in general and particularly bring about crucial impact to the villagers. IbM activity process started with the phase of approach, and next activity are socialization, planting mangrove seedling, training (from selecting seed of mangrove seedlings to the treatment procedures) and assistance for partner of Soneratia and Rhizopora so that the output yielded from this activity is to restore the mangrove area of Mangi Ohoi Ngilngof into its original function as a place spawning, providing food, and its preservation to support the government program of Southeast Maluku District in preserving coastal areas.

Abstract

An effort to maintain biodiversity of species in ecosystem is essential considering the high demand of fish in the market which is related to the amount of exploration. Trophic level is position of a species or a group of species within a food chain or food web, where it showed phases of transfer energy and material inter and intra on each group. This study aimed to analyze species composition and trophic level of lift net catch in ohoililir village water, southeast maluku regency. Observation variables on this research were, species composition, length and weight of fish also trophic level of catch by using lift net. Experimental fishing was the methodology for data collecting. Results shows that, trophic level of fish which catch by lift net was categories included to trophic level three (TL3), means most of fish catch by lift net dominated by omnivorspecies, as the result the fish structure community and pyramid become unstable. In order to prevent this matter, better conservation of fish around the area based on trophic level by considering various ecosystem components like fish and its food chain.

Abstract

Plankton is divided into two classes namely phytoplankton and zooplankton, where phytoplankton is microscopic plants that buoyant and float in the upper part of the ocean, whereas herbivor and carnivore zooplankton have more planktonic characteristic. This research aimed to figure plankton distribution pattern horizontally in Ohoililir water, Southeast Maluku Regency. Collecting data conducted on October, 2015 by using plankton net with 80 μm mesh size on four stations. Total Profusion plankton were around 1,785,000-3,015,000 sel/m3 which the most dominant zooplankton found were from crustacean class and Branchionusangularis genus as high as 49,000 sel/m3. The highest profusion was on second station and the lowest was on fourth station. Highest distribution pattern horizontally was on second station with profusion value more than 30.000 sel/m3.

Abstract

This article focuses on the roles of religious communities within particular social contexts which concern on environmental sustainability. On the one side, it contains a holistic notion, i.e. interconnection of all living fields and living beings with their milieu. It proves that religion's values to communal practices demonstrate a concern for natural sustainability. On the other side, the dynamic of such interest toward environmental sustainability influences a critical exploration and even transformation of religious values. Among religious communities, in Maluku context, the Protestant Church of Maluku (Gereja Protestan Maluku – GPM) is a Christian community that deliberately and systematically struggles on the problem of environmental sustainability by its religious values (Christianity).
