Abstract

The flow water velocity is closely correlated to oxygen  demand. Oxygen plays an important role as the indicator of fish blood. The objective of research is to acknowledge red blood cell, hematocrit, hemoglobin, and white blood cell of grouper larvae given with flow water velocity treatments.  Research begans from June 2011 to September 2011 at Lampung Marine Aquaculture Center. Juvenile with 7-9 cm length and 15-17 g/fish weight were tested using complete random design with three treatments of flow water  velocity, i.e. 1.25 m/sec (A), 1.00 m/sec (B), and 0.75 m/sec and control treatment. All treatments had 3 replications. Result of research indicates that flow water velocity had obvious effect on red blood cell, hematocrit, hemoglobin, and white blood cell. Red blood cell total was the highest in treatment of 1.25 m/second, counted for 2,922,666 cells/ml. It was  followed by treatment B with 2,816,000 cell/ml, treatment C with 2,763,000 cell/ml and control with 2,573,333 cell/ml.  The highest hemoglobin was found in treatment A, followed by B, C, and control treatments. The highest hematocrit rate was seen in treatment A, followed by B, C and control treatments. The highest white blood cell total was discovered in control, followed by C, B and A treatments.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh bobot bibit awal Kappaphycus alvarezii terhadap pertumbuhan, kandungan karagenan, dan komposisi metabolit primer. Penelitian dilaksanakan selama 45 hari (Mei–Juli 2024) di Perairan Hansisi-Semau, Kabupaten Kupang. Percobaan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan tiga perlakuan bobot bibit awal, yaitu 50 g (A), 100 g (B), dan 150 g (C), masing-masing tiga ulangan. Parameter yang diamati meliputi pertumbuhan berat mutlak, laju pertumbuhan spesifik (SGR), dan kadar karagenan. Data dianalisis menggunakan ANOVA pada taraf kepercayaan 95% dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Beda Nyata Terkecil (BNT) apabila berbeda nyata. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bobot bibit berpengaruh signifikan terhadap pertumbuhan berat mutlak (p<0,05). Pertumbuhan tertinggi diperoleh pada perlakuan 150 g (115,0 g), diikuti 100 g (111,3 g), dan 50 g (93,3 g). Sebaliknya, laju pertumbuhan spesifik tertinggi diperoleh pada bobot 50 g (2,34%/hari). Kandungan karagenan tertinggi terdapat pada perlakuan 100 g (32,7%) dan terendah pada 150 g (28,6%). Analisis proksimat pada perlakuan dengan pertumbuhan terbaik menunjukkan kandungan karbohidrat 45,9%, protein 8,2%, lemak 5,7%, dan abu 39,9% (berat kering). Disimpulkan bahwa bobot bibit awal mempengaruhi pertumbuhan dan kandungan karagenan K. alvarezii, dengan bobot 100 g direkomendasikan sebagai bobot optimal karena menghasilkan keseimbangan antara pertumbuhan dan kandungan karagenan.Kata kunci: bobot bibit, pertumbuhan, karagenan, proksimat, Kappaphycus alvarezii
