Abstract

Background: Anxiety is a common thing that occurs in patients who will undergo surgery. The anxiety that occurs in preoperative patients can be felt from the time they are scheduled for surgery until the time of surgery arrives. Anxiety management can be done using pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapy. Purpose: The aim of this research is to analyze the effectiveness of finger grip relaxation techniques and progressive muscle relaxation on anxiety in pre-caesarean section surgery patients in the Kediri Regency Regional General Hospital. Method: This study used a Quasy-experiment With Pretest Posttest to determine the effect of finger grip and progressive muscle relaxation techniques. The sample selection in this study used a purposive sampling technique and a total of 56 patients were obtained who were divided into 2 groups, namely the finger grip intervention group and the progressive muscle intervention group. The pretest and posttest data for each group were then analyzed using the Wilcoxon Test to determine the effect and the Mann-Whitney Test to compare the posttest results of the 2 groups. Results: The results of the study showed that the Wilcoxon test in both intervention groups obtained a p-value < α (0.05), which means that before and after the intervention, both progressive muscle relaxation and finger grip relaxation had an influence on the anxiety level of pre-caesarean section patients. For the results of the Mann-Whitney test, the p-value was 0.063 or p-value > α (0.05), which means there was no significant difference between changes in anxiety whether those given progressive muscle relaxation intervention or finger grip relaxation. Conclusion: Finger grip relaxation techniques and progressive muscle relaxation techniques are both effective in reducing anxiety levels in pre-caesarean section surgery patients. So this non- pharmacological therapy can be an option for patients in dealing with anxiety problems before  caesarean section surgery.

Abstract

Background: Adolescents often experience low reproductive literacy and poor mental health, which can lead to risky behaviors, early sexual debut, unintended pregnancy, and psychological problems such as anxiety and depression. Innovative approaches are needed to provide engaging and effective health education. Purpose: This study aimed to compare the effects of two educational games, SafeSteps (mobile) and LifeCycle (board game), on adolescents’ reproductive health literacy and mental health. Methods: A quasi-experimental design was applied with 266 participants divided into the two intervention groups (n=133 per group). Data on reproductive literacy and mental health (SDQ) were collected using validated questionnaires before and after the intervention. Paired t-tests and Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) were conducted to measure within- and between-group differences. Results: Both SafeSteps and LifeCycle significantly improved adolescents’ reproductive literacy, attitudes toward sexual violence, and mental health (p < .001). The SafeSteps group showed a significantly greater increase in reproductive literacy (mean D=17.3) compared to the LifeCycle group (mean D=13.4; F=13.84, p < .001). SafeSteps also yielded stronger gains in attitudes toward sexual violence (p < .001). Crucially, improvements in mental health were comparable between the two groups (F=1.46, p=0.228). Conclusion: SafeSteps (mobile) yielded stronger gains in cognitive and attitudinal outcomes, while both game modalities equally improved mental health. These findings recommend that policymakers and educators should integrate a hybrid approach combining scalable digital games with collaborative board-based sessions into school-based programs to ensure comprehensive and effective adolescent health promotion.

Abstract

Background: Teenagers are often described as agents of change who certainly have their own challenges and needs. This means that people who have reached adulthood must be ready to face the social world. If a person feels unable to cope with the changes and challenges that arise, they may develop negative reactions or emotional crises within themselves. Quarter life crisis is what people experience in response to instability, distrust, fear of failure, isolation, constant change, multiple choices, and also fear of impotence. Purpose: The aim of this research is to reveal the relationship between Loneliness (X1) and emotion regulation (X2) with the quarter life crisis (Y) in Adolescents in Gresik. Methods: This research is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional approach. This is done to test a predetermined hypothesis. This research uses a cross-sectional study, which means that data on the independent and dependent variables are each collected and observed only once . There were 468 populations and researchers involved 215 students of the Faculty of Health, Muhammadiyah University of Gresik, the sample was obtained randomly. Results: There is no relationship between loneliness and emotion regulation with quarter life crisis. And no p-value results were obtained in the statistical test of the correlation of Emotion Regulation with Quarter Life Crisis and a p-value of 0.5 (>0.05) was obtained, which means there is no relationship between loneliness and quarter life crisis. Conclusion: There is no relationship between loneliness and emotion regulation with quarter-life crisis. The occurrence of quarter-life crisis can be due to external factors such as work, social pressure, or changes in lifestyle, not just individual psychological factors.
