Abstract

The purpose of this activity was to convey the use of science and technology in increasing coconut oilproduction in the village of Tugondeng, Herlang District, Bulukumba Regency. Based on the identification of theproblem, the process of making coconut oil in the village of Tugondeng is still traditional, without the developmentof science and technology. Thus, the community service program team provided counseling on the process ofmaking coconut oil by fermentation. The results obtained show that the process of making coconut oil byfermentation only takes a short time in the heating process in order to minimize energy usage.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui adanya pengaruh ukuran partikel serbuk arang terhadap kualitas briket arang tempurung kelapa. Penelitian dilakukan beberapa tahap yaitu pembuatan briket, analisis kadar air, kadar abu, nilai kalor dan lama waktu pembakaran. Pembuatan briket menggunakan ukuran partikel 30 mesh, 40 mesh, 50 mesh, 60 mesh dan 70 mesh. Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa semakin kecil ukuran partikel maka kualitas briket arang tempurung kelapa semakin menurun. Briket dengan ukuran partikel 70 mesh merupakan ukuran partikel terkecil. Berdasarkan SNI 01-6235-2000, briket tersebut masih termasuk berkualitas baik dengan kadar air 3,40%, kadar abu 2,40%, nilai kalor 6710 kal/g dan l ama waktu pembakaran 104 menit untuk satu briket dengan berat ± 7 gram.Kata kunci: Briket, ukuran partikel, kualitas briket ABSTRACTThis research was an experimental research that aimed to determine the effect of charcoal powder particle size to the quality of coconut shell charcoal briquettes. The research was conducted in several stages, i.e, production of briquettes, the analysis of moisture and ash content, calorific value and burning time. Briquettes was produced using the particle size of 30 mesh, 40 mesh, 50 mesh, 60 mesh and 70 mesh. The result showed that smaller particle size would reducing the quality of 70 mesh was the smallest particle size. Based on SNI 01-6235-2000, briquettes with the particle size of 70 mesh still classified as good quality briquettes with the moisture content of 3,40%, ash content of 2,40%, calorific value of 6710 cal/g and the burning time of 104 minutes for a briquette with weight of  ± 7 grams.Keywords: Briquette, particle size, the quality of briquette

Abstract

Workshops and mentoring planning for Classroom Action Research (CAR) have been conducted. This activity, which is a community partnership program, was carried out in Tonyamang village, Patampanua sub-district, Pinrang Regency, involving 27 teachers of 4 Pinrang Vocational Schools. The results of the activity showed that the enthusiasm of the teacher was so great in attending the workshop. They have also succeeded in making a CAR draft which will be applied to each teacher's class.

Abstract

Penelitian deskriptif ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui besarnya keefektifan metode pemecahan masalah untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar dan keterampilan generik sains siswa kelas XI IA 2 SMA Negeri 8 Makassar. Variabel dalam penelitian ini merupakan variabel tunggal yaitu keefektifan metode pemecahan masalah dalam pembelajaran kimia pada materi pokok hidrolisis garam. Subyek penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI IA 2 SMA Negeri 8 Makassar tahun ajaran 2012/2013 yang berjumlah 30 siswa. Pengumpulan data menggunakan tes hasil belajar dalam bentuk essai yang terdiri dari 5 butir soal dan diperoleh nilai rata-rata seluruh siswa sebesar 71,71 dengan frekuensi 22 siswa tuntas dan 8 siswa tidak tuntas. Hasil analisis nilai gain yang dinormalisasi, <g>, menunjukkan bahwa efektivitas metode pemecahan masalah untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar kelas XI IA 2 SMA Negeri 8 Makassar pada materi pokok hidrolisis garam sebesar 0,57. Sedangkan <g> efektifitas metode pemecahan masalah untuk meningkatkan keterampilan generik sains adalah 0,51. Kata Kunci: Problem Solving, Keterampilan generik. ABSTRACT The  descriptive research aims to determine the effectiveness of problem solving method to increase students achievement and generic skills of science grade XI IA 2 Senior High School 8 Makassar. Single variable namely effectiveness of problem solving method to increase learning outcome and generic skills of science study on hydrolysis of salt. The subject of research is all of students grade XI IA 2 Senior High School State 8 Makassar academic year 2012/2013 that amount 30 students. Data collecting use students’ achievement test in essay form that consist of 5 items and found average value all of the students are 71.71 with frequent 22 students are pass and 8 students are not pass. Analysis result of normalized gain, <g>, showing that effectiveness of problem solving method to increase students’ achievement grade XI IA 2 Senior High School State 8 Makassar study on hydrolysis of salt is 0.57. Meanwhile, <g> of effectiveness of problem solving method to increase generic skills of science is 0.51. Keywords: Problem Solving Method, Generic Skills of Science.
