Abstract

ROA is a ratio that serves to assess a company's ability to make a profit. The amount of ROA can be influenced by many things such as NPF, FDR, and CAR. This study aims to find the effect of NPF, FDR, and CAR on ROA at Islamic Commercial Banks (BUS) in 2016-2021. This research uses a two-stage analysis. The first stage will use multiple linear analysis with the Ordinary Least Square method to find the influence between variables, then the second stage will examine the ROA scheme in Islamic banking, and whether it is in accordance with Islamic principles. The results showed that NPF had a significant negative impact on ROA, FDR had an insignificant positive impact on ROA, and CAR had a significant positive impact on ROA. The results of the calculation of the coefficient of determination show that NPF, FDR, and CAR affect ROA by 78.78% while the rest is explained by other variables that are not taken into account in the study. In addition, the ROA business scheme is in accordance with existing Sharia aspects because nothing is violated in Sharia principles, and the existence of DPS is one of the factors the researchers believe that this business model is in accordance with Sharia values. This research is useful to determine the effect between ROA variables and to find out whether business schemes with ROA are in accordance with Sharia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the comparison and conformity between Indonesian halal regulations and halal clauses in the Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART) articles 2.9 and 2.22 between the Republic of Indonesia and the United States. The analysis in this study uses a normative juridical method with a statutory approach, a comparative approach and a conceptual approach, this study dissects nine points in the halal clause of the ART. The results of the study show that there is a significant disparity in norms, namely three paragraphs declared appropriate, two partially contradictory paragraphs, and four absolute contradictory paragraphs because it is not in accordance with Indonesian halal regulations, especially related to the labeling of non-halal products and the elimination of halal supervisors. Judging from Hans Kelsen's sovereignty theory, Indonesia has the legal capacity to maintain its national standards to protect citizens, which is emphasized through the Decree of the Head of BPJPH No. 221 of 2025 regarding foreign halal certification. In sharia principles, the rejection of contradictory clauses is the implementation of the rules of Dar'ul Mafāṣid Muqaddam 'Alā Jalbil Maṣāliḥ in order to ensure halal certainty and the protection of Indonesian Muslims.

Abstract

Green financing is a key instrument in the implementation of green banking, supporting environmental sustainability while also having the potential to influence banks' financial performance. This study analyzed the impact of green banking on the stability and profitability of Islamic banks in Indonesia. The sample comprised 17 Islamic commercial banks, yielding 97 bank-year observations over the 2019–2025 period. Annual data were obtained from the annual and sustainability reports of each bank. Green banking was proxied by the ratio of green financing to total financing, whereas bank stability and profitability were measured using the equity-to-total-assets (ETA) ratio and return on assets (ROA), respectively. The study employed fixed-effects panel data regression with standard errors clustered at the bank level. The results indicated that green financing had a positive and significant effect on bank stability but a negative and statistically insignificant effect on profitability. Banks with stronger capital adequacy and greater operational efficiency also exhibited higher levels of stability and profitability. These findings suggest that the benefits of green financing are reflected initially in enhanced bank resilience, whereas its effect on profitability may take longer to materialize. Therefore, Islamic banks should expand green financing in a prudent manner while continuing to strengthen their capital base, improve operational efficiency, and enhance financing risk management.
