Abstract

Senggani fruit (Melastoma malabathricum L.) is one of the wild plants whose leaves are usually used by the community as a medicine for wounds and cancer sores. Senggani fruit contains high anthocyanins and antioxidants, which are very good for preventing cancer in the body. The purpose of this research is to make syrup of Senggani fruit juice. The formulation of Senggani fruit juice syrup was made by heating method at 54°C with various concentrations of F0, F1 (5%), F2 (6%) and F3 (8%). Then, the physical properties were tested, namely organoleptic, viscosity test, pH test, homogenity test, hedonic test and descriptive test. From testing the physical properties of the syrup formulation of Senggani fruit, it was found that the organoleptic test of F2 and F3 showed a change in consistency; for the pH test results the four formulas ranged from 3.98 to 7.07; the homogeneity test on F2 and F3 was not homogeneous, there were black grains at the 3rd week; then the viscosity test of syrup preparations F2 and F3 obtained an average result of 30 - 51.33 cPs; as well as hedonic and descriptive tests with the criteria of somewhat like - like the most preferred is F3.

Abstract

Indonesia merupakan Negara yang banyak memiliki tanaman yang dapat digunakan sebagai obat tradisional, salah satunya daun bidara arab ( Ziziphus spina-chirsti L), daun bidara arab diketahui memiliki aktivitas antibakteri. bakteriStreptococcus mutans yang merupakan penyebab timbulnya plak dan karies gigi. dengan menggunakan obat kumur antiseptik dapat mencegah timbulnya plak dan karies gigi. Uji daya hambat antibakteri dilakukan dengan metode difusi agar. Konsentrasi obat kumur yang digunakan adalah 1%, 3%, 5%, kontrol (+) obat kumur yang beredar dipasaran (total care) dan kontrol (-) kemudian diinkubasi selama 24 jam pada suhu 37º C. Zona bening diukur. Hasil yang diperoleh bahwa obat kumur ekstrak daun bidara arab ( Ziziphus spina-chirsti L) mampu menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Streptococcus mutans. kosentarasi yang paling bagus adalah kosentrasi 5% yaitu 13,54 mm. Dan kontrol (+) dapat menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Streptococcus mutans dengan nilai 15,88 mm dan termasuk katagori kuat. Kata Kunci :Daun bidara arab (Ziziphus spina-chirsti L), obat kumur , Streptococcus mutans

Abstract

Randu plant leaves (Ceiba pentandra (L) Gaertn) are commonly used in traditional medicine, one of which is an analgesic with secondary metabolites which are thought to be analgesics, namely flavonoids. The purpose of this study was to determine the analgesic effectiveness of the ethanol extract cream of randu leaves (Ceiba pentandra (L) Gaertn) in white male mice (Mus musculus). The research on the analgesic effectiveness of the ethanol extract cream of randum leaves used the hot plate method and used male white mice as the experimental animal media. The soles of the hind legs of the mice were heated over hot plated with a temperature of 550C then the test animals were given the treatment which was divided into 5 treatment groups, namely positive control (Conterpain cream), negative control (F0), F1 (10%), F2 (15%), F3 (20%) and 1 normal group. The response of mice was calculated every 30 minutes in 120 minutes. The data obtained were analyzed using the one-way ANOVA statistical test followed by the Duncan test with a confidence level of 99%. The results of the one-way ANOVA test showed that there were significant differences between treatment groups (0.00 <0.05). The results of the Duncan test showed that the group that provided the best analgesic effectiveness was F2 (15%) but not better than Positive Control.
