Abstract

The current low success level of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementation stimulates the rise of research to find the critical success factor of it. One of the challenges of ERP implementation is to find a ‘fit’ between business and system requirements. It is claimed that standardizing business processes to follow the ERP system will positively impact organizations to follow the best practice process. However, there is another challenge that organization should not reengineer their business process to fit the ERP system, but rather modify or customize the ERP system to match their business process. This belief argues that standardizing business processes is not the right solution that applies to every organization since it can degrade an organization’s competitive advantages. Based on the background, the research aimed to construct a comprehensive review to succeed in implementing an ERP system, particularly on ERP modification, using a systematic literature review method. It was done by collecting and analyzing scientific publications related to ERP critical success factors with special attention to system modification. The literature review results in a comprehensive explanation of ERP modification. It includes elaborating on different types of misfit and customization to cultivate the understanding of ERP modification, a flowchart to analyze misfit to help the organization to evaluate modification requests, and critical success factors of modified ERP implementation.

Abstract

Achieving business and Information Technology (IT) alignment has become the aspiration of most organizations nowadays. Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are not exempt as they also thrive to survive in a competitive market using IT. However, implementing all IT control and management components will be excessive, with a lack of justifiable cost-benefit for SMEs. A tailored governance system based on the specificities of SMEs is necessitated to help the organization to focus on its main objectives and strategies. By leveraging COBIT 2019 design toolkit, the researchers support Campus A in establishing healthy governance and IT management. Both qualitative and quantitative approaches are applied to select relevant governance/ management objectives. The toolkit has been designed with a semi-automated quantitative approach in which users will get scoring for each objective based on the associated value inputted for each design factor. Through a series of discussions with the management team, it concludes the governance design and recommends several improvements to increase its capability level, from the current level of 1.05 (initial stage) to the desired level of 2.33 (repeatable stage). Then, since the toolkit is practical to use, it is also rigid by design with its predefined and protected formula. To some extent, the resulting score or importance level of certain governance/management objectives is questionable and lacks justification. Flags or indicators to ‘should-have’ governance/management objectives, regardless of the organization’s size and type, will be useful to prevent the omission of essential objectives.

Abstract

The adoption of conversational artificial intelligence (AI) in museums has opened a new opportunity to create a richer visiting experience to tell stories for the preservation of culture. This paper contributes a systematic literature review (SLR) of 33 peer-reviewed papers covering the period from 2020 to mid-2025, by applying the people–process–technology (PPT) model to examine the social technological aspects of AI implementation. This combination is novel in a museum context, as previous research has largely treated these separately. Findings indicate a pronounced shift from text based chatbots (21% or 7 of 33 papers) to more immersive and interactive platforms (30% or 10 of 33 papers), reflecting the transition from the pandemic (2020 – 2023) to the post-pandemic period (2024 – 2025). Besides the evolution of these technologies, the technology component highlights the importance of data governance, digital preparedness, and value alignment at and across different levels. The people component includes the relevance of hedonic and utilitarian values. Meanwhile, the process component emphasizes both strategic and technical aspects of AI design and implementation, such as knowledge structuring, media selection, and narrative representation. In line with this agenda, this study addresses the trends in literature and provides a path for sustainable appropriation by museums.
