Abstract

SMEs are a very important economic sector in almost all countries. Not only in developed countries but also in developing countries. The reason is, this sector contributes greatly to economic growth, especially to the GDP and employment. Therefore, all governments give a big support to the growth of this sector to contribute even more. The purpose of organizations including SMEs is to increase value for their stakeholders. Therefore, every manager tries hard to improve the performance of his company. In theory, one of the factors that influence organizational performance is HRM practice  (Armstrong & Taylor, 2014). However, experts argue that the relationship of HRM practices with organizational performance is an indirect relationship. Therefore, it is important to think about what variables can mediate this relationship. In the literature it is mentioned that human capital can act as a mediating variable in the relationship between HRM practices and organizational performance. However, in the context of SMEs, studies on human capital as a mediator are still rarely found. This present article aims to add to the literature on the mediating role of human capital in the relationship of HRM practices with organizational performance in the context of SMEs.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the role of HC mediation and individual performance in the relationship of MSDM practice with organizational performance in the context of IMK. To achieve this goal, a set of questionnaires was distributed to 300 respondents. They consist of 40 entrepreneurs and 260 craftsmen selected with multi-stage random sampling techniques. The collected data is analyzed by the SEM-PLS method. Data analysis results in that (1) MSDM practices have a positive and significant effect on HC, individual performance, and organizational performance, (2) HC and individual performance mediate the relationship of MSDM practice with organizational performance. The findings of this study have implications for the theory that the relationship of MSDM practice with organizational performance is increasingly clarified. This finding suggests that IMK actors, especially those engaged in the Jambi batik industry, to further streamline HC development and improve individual performance through more effective MSDM practices to achieve more effective organizational goals.

Organizational effectiveness  positively impacts sustainability and competitiveness of organizations. Higher Education is no exception.  To gain sustainability and  effectiveness of organizations, diagnosis should be implemented regularly. In theory, organizations that implement diagnosis regularly have sustainable competitiveness. Today, Higher Educations face tough competition due to many factors suchs as globalization, technological advancement, and rapid demographic changes. This current research aims at implementing organizational diagnosis on Private Higher Educations (PHEs) in Jambi City. Specifically, the purpose of this diagnosis is to know how effective is the organizations in terms of purpose, structure, leadership, relationship, rewards, mechanism, attitutde toward changes, and learning practices. For this purpose, a set of questionaires were distributed to respondents who were cluster-randomly selected from four institutions. Data analysis shows that in general higher education organization in Jambi City is considered  sufficiently effective. This suggests that improvement should be made. In particular, there are three organizational aspects that respondents give the lowest score. They are reward system, attitude toward changes, and learning practices. Abstract

Training does not always directly contribute to employee performance, especially in the context of small organizations. Therefore, researchers must take a mediation approach. This study aims to verify whether motivation can act as an effective mediator in the relationship between training and employee performance. For this purpose, questionnaires have been distributed to a number of Jambi batik craftsmen who were selected randomly. The collected data were analyzed by path analysis technique. The results of the analysis show that motivation has proven to be successful in being a mediator in the relationship between training and employee performance. This is because the competencies that craftsmen gain from effective training programs give them confidence so that they feel motivated in doing their jobs because the knowledge and skills match what they need. This explains that effective training not only gives employees the competencies but also the necessary work motivation. Based on these findings, small organizations such as the batik industry are recommended to design effective training programs for their artisans.

Abstract

Organizational performance  is an important issue for researchers and managers including managers in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) for it can be the indicator of success. It also provides accurate information for startegic decision making. Many factors influence organizational performance. One of them is knowledge management (KM) practices. Theoretically and empirically, effective KM practices improve performance. Many researches have been conducted in regard of HEI performance. Unfortunately, in the context of private HEIs in the City of Jambi, the literature and empirical evidences are very rare. This current research aims to fill the gap. It also aims to examine its link with organizational performance. Data was collected through the distribution of questionnaire to randomly-selected lecturers and employees. Further, the data was analyzed with regression analysis by applying SPSS V.26. The result shows that knowledge dissemination and knowledge storage system partially and simultenously affect organizational performance. Interestingly, the constanta value in the regression model is negative. This implies that performance might be decreased if KM is not implemented. Then, it is suggested to private HEI operators especially those in the City of Jambi implement KM.

Abstract

This study aims to determine and analyze the effect of financial performance on stock prices in pharmaceutical sub-sector companies on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the period 2014 – 2023. This study uses financial performance as an independent variable with indicators of Current Ratio (CR), Quick Ratio (QR), Cash Ratio (CashR), Debt to Asset Ratio (DAR), Debt to Equity Ratio (DER), Fixed Asset Turn Over (FATO), Inventory Turn Over (ITO), Total Asset Turn Over (TATO), Gross Profit Margin (GPM), Net Profit Margin (NPM) and Return On Equity (ROE). Stock price as a variable is tied to the stock price indicator (HS). Data and facts obtained from the issuer's financial statements, stock prices and financial performance have considerable and significant differences in the study period. The analysis tool uses the Smart Partial Least Square (PLS) 3.0 software program. The results showed that financial performance variables with FATO and TATO indicators affect stock price variables, while other financial performance indicators, namely CR, CashR, DAR, DER, GPM, ITO, GPM, ITO, NPM, QR and ROE are not able to construct financial performance variables.
