Abstract

This study aims to inventory various forms of Karo ethnic local wisdom in the use of various types of local plants, medical processing, food, cosmetics, rituals, and boards. Another goal is to analyze the potential of micro and macroeconomic elements in the marketing of processed plants. The cornerstone of thinking in this study is the concept of ethnobotany, ethnoecology, and local wisdom. This study uses qualitative research methods with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques include participatory observation, in-depth interviews, document studies, and documentation. The results of the study revealed that there were at least 218 local Karo ethnic plants that grew and were known to be Karo ethnicity and their usefulness. Local plants for medical are 183 species, for culinary ingredients a total of 53 types, for cosmetics a total of 32 types, for magical number of 27 types, and for the cancellation of households (boards) of 7 types. Local plants / plants that function ethnobotany are those that have multiple functions, so that the total number of plants can exceed the number of local plants / plants used by the people. As for some of the Karo Ethnic local knowledge related to its processing, it was produced in the form of making karo oil, yellow/param, injecting betel nut, enough, spraying beltek, my erpangir rituals and others

Abstract

The Village Literacy Model Development Program to Increase Motivation in Education and Community Reading Interest was carried out in Kolam Village, Percut Sei Tuan District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra Province. Pond Village has been a major partner since the 2017 program and is supported by other partners such as Posyandu, Karang Taruna, schools in Kolam Village. By building a broad partnership, it is hoped that during the three years the program runs, UPBJJ Open University in Medan will be able to turn the Village Pool into a Literacy Village where the community becomes literate and knowledge literate, thereby increasing the motivation of educating to tertiary institutions. Thus the development and development of human resources (HR) in the Village Pool will increase in the future. This program continues the program achievements in 2017 and 2018 ago. During the implementation of the 2019 National PkM, various activities have been carried out, including providing assistance for renovation of the Pool Village library space, providing mobile assistance for Pool Village library equipment, and providing bookshelves, building information media and literacy campaigns, facilitating book publishing a collection of children's stories, and the launch of the Village Pool as a Village of Literacy.

Abstract

The development program of Smart Village to improve the education motivation of community was carried out in Tanjung Rejo Village, Kec. Percut Sei Tuan, Kab. Deli Serdang, North Sumatra Province. This program is supported by partners, government and youth organizations in Tanjung Rejo Village. The program is the first of three years planned program. It is hoped that during the three years of the program running, the Open University of UPBJJ Medan will be able to turn Tanjung Rejo Village into a Smart Village with the criteria that the village community is aware of the importance of education for life, for family welfare, for the progress of the village, nation and state; rural communities will improve their education up to university; villager love to read; the youth villagers have a wide range of skills; teachers in the village have good teaching skills; villager officials have professional capabilities in administering village government administration, managing village finances, and processing village statistical data. Thus, it is hoped that the development of human resources in Tanjung Rejo Village will improve in the future.The first year programs in 2022 that had been implemented included (1) activities to equalize public perceptions to increase awareness of rural communities on the importance of early education and reading culture and to increase motivation for higher education for village youth; (2) training activities to analyze learning videos in the UT Online Smart Teacher Portal to improve teaching skills, critical thinking and creative skills for Kindergarten/PAUD, SD, SMP teachers in Tanjung Rejo Village; (3) compiling Environmental Education textbooks as a guide for teachers and parents in teaching students and children to read aloud environmental education books so that students and children love to read, perceive, love, and protect their living environment; (4) Instruct teachers and parents on how to read environmental education textbooks to students and children; (5) publish program activities in newspapers in North Sumatera.Keywords: educational motivation, environmental education, reading attentiveness, smart village,teachers tutoringABSTRAKProgram pengembangan model Kampung Cerdas untuk meningkatkan motivasi pendidikan masyarakat ini dilakukan di Desa Tanjung Rejo, Kec.Percut Sei Tuan, Kab. Dengan demikian, diharapkan pembangunan dan pengembangan SDM di Desa Tanjung Rejo akan meningkat di masa depan

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the academic and professional supervision of teachers on student learning outcomes. The study population amounted to 53 teachers, research sampling using saturated sampling techniques where the population was used as a research sample. The type of data or information used is primary data with data collection techniques through questionnaires. Data analysis techniques were carried out using descriptive and inferential analysis with multiple regression analysis methods using SPSS 25. The results of the analysis show that partial academic supervision has a positive effect on student learning outcomes, and teacher professionals have a positive effect on student learning outcomes. In contrast, simultaneously, academic supervision and teacher professionalism significantly affect student learning outcomes, so the improvement of student learning outcomes in elementary schools is influenced by the implementation of academic supervision and Professionalism of teachers in carrying out learning. Abstract

Sosialisasi Gaya Hidup Sehat dan Olahraga Senam di Universitas Terbuka Medan merupakan bentuk kepedulian Dosen Universitas Terbuka Medan terhadap generasi muda yang dilaksanakan di Kampus Universitas Terbuka Medan. Kegiatan Pengabdian Masyarakat (Abdimas) ini terdiri dari dua kegiatan pokok, yaitu : 1) Kegiatan praksis olahraga senam dengan melakukan Gerakan Senam Kebugaran Sumatera Utara (SKSU), dan 2) Sosialisasi mengenai gaya hidup sehat sesuai dengan Gerakan Masyarakat Hidup Sehat (GERMAS). Kegiatan Pengabdian Masyarakat ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk memberikan pengetahuan mengenai teori dan cara praktis menjaga kesehatan tubuh bagi masyarakat, terutama kepada generasi muda. Metode kegiatan menggunakan sosialisasi lapangan dengan tiga tahap, mulai dari tahap orientasi, tahap implementasi dan tahap evaluasi. Jumlah peserta pada kegiatan ini sebanyak 107 Peserta yang berasal dari mahasiswa Universitas Terbuka, mahasiswa Universitas Negeri Medan, para pegawai dan masyarakat umum. Hasil kegiatan ini adalah tumbuhnya kesadaran diri masyarakat terutama dari generasi muda, tentang betapa pentingnya melakukan olahraga dan menerapkan pola gaya hidup sehat. Secara keseluruhan para peserta kegiatan menyatakan siap untuk memulai hidup sehat.
