Abstract

Abstract

Self Monitoring Blood Glucose (SMBG) has been accepted as an important part of diabetes mellitus management. The purpose of this study was to identify factors that affect type 2 diabetes mellitus patients to perform SMBG. This is a cross sectional study, with 80 respondents. Statistical analysis was using a chi square correlation test and a multiple logistic regression. The result shows that there a significant correlation between belief on diabetes mellitus management and SMBG (p = 0,000). The most influential factor on SMBG is the belief variable on diabetes mellitus management with OR = 14,069 after controlled with the knowledge variable (95% CI OR 0,100 - 1983, 518). It is needed to improve the belief on diabetes mellitus managements especially in type 2 diabetes mellitus patient

Abstract

An effort that might be made to prevent complications of Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is by increasing peripheral blood circulation through the Buerger Allen exercise (BAE). Previous studies recommend reviewing the standard procedure of the BAE. Research related to the review of the effectiveness of BAE application on type 2 DM, which is summarized from various studies in latest original research is still lacking. The aim of this study is to describe the standard form of the Buerger Allen implementation that has been evaluated its effectiveness in patients with type 2 DM patients with complications. This literature review was performed with PICO keywords in 4 databases, including PubMed, Springer Link, Wiley Online Library, and Google Scholar in 2011-2022. We have concluded that the standard procedure for implementing the BAE consists of 5 stages and three main steps for each cycle. The steps are supine position (pre-exercise), elevation, Hanging, flexion-extension, and horizontal (post-exercise) steps. Each session consists of at least 3 to 6 cycles with approximately 30 minutes. Fifteen articles analyzed showed significant changes in lower peripheral perfusion of patients with type 2 DM. BAE is a simple non-pharmacological intervention that is considered an effective method for managing lower peripheral perfusion.

Abstract

Background: The incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus is between 85% and 95% of the world's population suffers from diabetes mellitus. Diabetes occurs when the sufferer's body is unable to absorb glucose into cells and use it as energy. This condition ultimately causes excess glucose to build up in the body's bloodstream. Diabetic foot ulcers are the most common complication in people with diabetes mellitus and can lead to amputation. In cases of diabetic foot ulcers, patients always require pain management. One non-pharmacological therapy that can be used to reduce pain is murottal therapy. Objective: The aim of this study was to analyze nursing care for patients with a medical diagnosis of type 2 diabetes mellitus complicated by diabetic ulcers with acute pain problems using murottal therapy. Methods: This research is a case study using data collection techniques of observation, interviews, physical examination and documentation. Murottal therapy is given for 15 minutes once a day for 3 consecutive days. Results: Murottal therapy has been proven to be effective in helping reduce or reduce pain in diabetic ulcer patients. On the primary day, the patient's pain scale was 7 (severe) and by the third day, the patient's pain scale had diminished to 4 (moderate). Conclusion: Murottal therapy intervention provided good changes in reducing the pain scale.

Abstract

Background: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease characterized by hyperglycemia. As the number of DM increases, the incidence of diabetic ulcers will also increase. Approximately 14-24% of diabetic foot ulcer patients require amputation with 50% recurrence after three years. This may be due to a lack of knowledge and information in carrying out foot care independently. Most DM patients still think that all they need to do is control their blood glucose levels, so they pay less attention to the condition or cleanliness of their feet, don't wear sandals, and don't cut their nails properly, which creates a risk of recurring wounds. The research aims to determine the effect of providing Diabetic Self Foot Care (DSFC) health education on patient knowledge and attitudes about preventing diabetic foot ulcers. Method: This research was a descriptive-analytical design with a pretest–posttest cross-sectional study approach. Sampling in this research used a total sampling technique, obtaining a sample of 15 respondents. Data collection used measuring instruments in the form of questionnaires, data analysis uses the non-parametric statistical test Wilcoxon Sign Test. Results: The results of respondents' measurements after being given education about preventing diabetic foot ulcers showed that 15 of the respondents had a positive attitude after being given the education. The results of the analysis through statistical tests were obtained by Asymp.Sig. (2-tailed) 0.001 which means it is smaller than the p-value 0.05, so the result is
