Abstract

Abstrak: Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan seberapa baik penampilan berpidato siswa dalam mata kuliah “Speech”, mendeskripsikan masalah masalah berbicara yang paling dominan dalam mata kuliah “Speech”,  dan untuk mendeskripsikan bagaimana persiapan siswa sebelum menyampaikan pidato mereka dalam mata kuliah pidato yang dihadapi oleh mahasiswa semester ketiga Program Bahasa Inggris di Akademi Bahasa Asing Pontianak Tahun Akademik  2012 – 2013. Penelitian ini melibatkan 20 siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian deskriptif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, sebagian besar siswa menghadapi masalah baik linguistik dan non - linguistik ketika berbicara dalam bahasa Inggris . Data menunjukkan masalah yang paling dominan dalam berbicara untuk aspek linguistik adalah kelancaran dan kemampuan memahami sedangkan sebagian besar masalah berbicara dalam aspek non - linguistik adalah kontak mata dan gerakan tubuh . Disamping itu, hasil dari kuisioner menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar siswa telah melakukan persiapan sebelum memberikan pidato , meskipun mereka melakukan persiapan dengan cara yang berbeda . Kata kunci : masalah siswa dalam berbicara Bahasa Inggris, pidato   Abstract: The purpose of this research are to describe how well the students’ speech performance in speech subject is, to describe students’ speaking problem in speech subject, to find out the most dominant speaking problems in speech subject and to describe how the students’ preparation before delivering their speech in speech subject faced by the third semester students of English Program of Akademi Bahasa Asing Pontianak in Academic Year 2012 – 2013. This research involved 20 students of class 2B1. The method of this research was descriptive research. Based on research finding, most of the students faced both linguistic and non-linguistic problems when speaking English. The data showed the most speaking problems in linguistic aspects are fluency and comprehensibility, while the most of speaking problems in non-linguistic aspect are eye contact and gesture. However, the result based on the questionnaire showed that most of the students implemented the preparation before delivering the speech, although they implemented the preparation in different ways. Abstract

The implementation of Islamic values-based therapeutics is very important in an Islamic educational institution.  This is due to the increasing behavioral and emotional challenges faced by students. Therefore, a therapeutic approach that integrates Islamic values is expected to help students in the process of self-healing and character development. The research method used is qualitative with a case study design, which allows researchers to gain an in-depth understanding of this practice. The subjects of this study were Mas Yapen Teachers and Students consisting of 10 teachers and 30 Students.  Data was collected through observation, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and document studies related to Mas Yapem. Observations were conducted to understand interactions in the educational environment, while in-depth interviews provided insight into participants' experiences and perceptions. The data analysis technique used the thematic analysis method, in which the data obtained would be categorized and the main themes identified. Triangulation of sources and methods was used to enhance the credibility of the findings. The results of the study are expected to provide practical recommendations for Mas Yapem and other Islamic educational institutions in implementing Islamic values-based therapeutic approaches effectively and sustainably, so as to help students overcome psychological and emotional problems better
