Abstract

This study assessed climate classification, hydrological conditions, and agricultural vulnerabilities in Pangkalpinang City, Bangka Belitung Province, Indonesia, using a 65-year (1959-2024) daily meteorological dataset. Climate classification revealed a dominant Af (Tropical Rainforest) type by the Köppen-Geiger method (occurring in 56 out of 66 years) with high precision (0.89-1.0) and a C1'As (perhumid mesothermal) classification predominating according to Thornthwaite (64 out of 66 years). Trend analysis showed a likely not significant temperature increase (approximately +0.02°C/year) and shifting precipitation patterns, with mean annual rainfall at 2289.84 mm and an annual precipitation concentration index (PCI) of 8.924, indicating a moderately irregular rainfall distribution. Hydrological analysis showed an average potential evapotranspiration (PET) of 0.284 mm, a soil moisture content of 99.751 mm, an average surface runoff of 4.577 mm, and 51 annual flood risk events, exhibiting a humid regime. Mean crop water requirement (CWR) was 4.857 relative units, and we observed a strong positive correlation (r=0.969) between the water requirement satisfaction index (WRSI) and crop water needs. The model validation exhibited a root mean square error (RMSE) between 0.1-0.5 and showed a stable Thornthwaite classification even with perturbations and the time series data analysis revealed the variability of parameters and a shift in temperature around the year 2000. These results emphasize the urgent need for localized climate adaptation strategies in Pangkalpinang.

Abstract

The vast quantities of rice straw residue generated every year present both a challenge and an opportunity. To address the challenge, this work took the opportunity by transforming rice straw waste into eco-friendly silica gel. Synthesis of rice straw-based silica gel was via sol-gel method with the calcination temperature of 700 oC for 2 h and the addition of sodium hydroxide 2 molar. Characteristics of silica gel and its raw material have been investigated using several techniques such as FTIR, XRD, SEM, and BET surface area. The synthesized silica gel showed obvious peaks of Si-O-Si and O-H, aggregated smaller particles, crystal nature, and high surface area. This innovative work contributes to agricultural waste management and the circular economy for a sustainable future.

Abstract

Marine macroalgae, or seaweeds, have emerged as promising sources for the green synthesis and stabilization of nanoparticles, offering remarkable potential in photodegradation processes. These abundant and renewable resources harbor a diverse array of bioactive compounds, including polysaccharides, proteins, flavonoid, and pigments, which can act as reducing, capping, and stabilizing agents. The integration of macroalgae-derived stabilizing agents into nanoparticle synthesis confers unique properties, enhancing photocatalytic performance and stability. This review comprehensively examines the role of marine macroalgae as stabilizing agents for bio-fabricated nanoparticles in photodegradation applications in particular for toxic azo dye degradation and organic compounds. It explores into the mechanisms of nanoparticle synthesis and stabilization, explores the diverse macroalgal species employed, and evaluates their photocatalytic efficiency against various organic and inorganic pollutants in wastewater. Furthermore, the review critically analyzes the challenges and future perspectives in this field, offering insights into the development of green, sustainable, and efficient remediation strategies for environmental contaminants.

Abstract

Yogyakarta is a densely populated province in Indonesia. In order to maintain the comfort and health of the people of Yogyakarta, this study aims to analyze the quality of drinking water sources used by residents of Depok District with a population density of 3691.76 people/km2 in 2021, by taking water samples in Condongcatur Housing. The research was conducted by water intake survey method and testing experiments based on SNI No. 01-3554-2006 through test parameters of odor, taste, turbidity, pH, TDS, nitrite, nitrate, chloride, iron, and manganese levels. Based on the results of organoleptic and instrumental testing, the tested water samples were found to have met the quality standards set by PERMENKES RI No.492/MENKES/PER/IV/2010. Thus, the source of drinking water used by Condongcatur residents has met the required qualifications. This may be because local residents were able to maintain their water quality from human activities that can pollute the water quality. Nevertheless, water quality must always be maintained at all times considering the population in the area is increasing. Keywords: Water, drinkable water quality, populated residential environment

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji secara empirik ada atau tidaknya pengaruh deindividuasi dan kontrol diri terhadap perilaku perundungan di media sosial instagram. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah remaja sebanyak 86 orang. Teknik sampel yang digunakan adalah purposive sampling, dengan karakteristik responden berusia 13-18 tahun, memiliki kecendrungan perilaku perundungan di media sosial, memiliki akun di media sosial instagram dan aktif menggunakan media sosial instagram. Alat ukur dalam penelitian ini menggunakan skala perundungan di media sosial, skala deindividuasi dan skala kontrol diri. Skala tersebut disusun dengan skala model likert. Teknik analisa data menggunakan uji regresi berganda. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa terdapat pengaruh deindividuasi dan kontrol diri terhadap perilaku perundungan di media sosial instagram dengan nilai signifikansi p = 0.000, F hitung 11.519 > F tabel = 3.110 dan nilai R2 = 0.217. Pada deindividuasi terhadap perundungan di media sosial terdapat pengaruh dengan nilai koefisien beta (β) = 0.461, nilai t hitung = 4.743 > t tabel = 1.989 dan nilai p = 0.000. Pada kontrol diri terhadap perundungan di media sosial tidak terdapat pengaruh dengan nilai koefisien beta (β) = 0.052, nilai t hitung= 0.534 < t tabel = 1.989 dan nilai p = 0.595. This research is aimed to examined empirically the presence or absence of deindividuation and self-control on job insecurity in instagram. This research used quantitative approach. The subject of this research was teenagers, with a total of 86 people. The sample technique used was purposive sampling, with the characteristics of respondents aged 13-18 years, tend to cyberbulling, have an account on social media Instagram and actively use social media Instagram. The measurement instruments used in this research were cyberbullying scale, deindividuation scale, and self-control scale. The scale was arranged with likert scale design. The technique of data analysis used was multiple regression test. The result of this research showed that the existence of regression of of deindividuation and self-control on job insecurity in instagram with p significance value = 0.000, F count 11.519 > F table = 3.110 and R2 value = 0.217. On deindividuation toward cyberbullying there was regression with the value of coefficient beta (β) = 0.461, t count value = 4.743 > t table = 1.989 and p value = 0.000. On readiness for change toward job insecurity there was regression with the value of coefficient beta (β) = 0.052, t count value= 0.534 < t table = 1.989 and p value = 0.595.

Abstract

The crisis of non-renewable energy resources has pushed the global community to overcome the dominance of fossil fuel power plants. The utilization of new renewable energy sources is a solution because it is considered to have energy sources that will continue to be renewed, including wind energy. Since ancient times, wind energy can be harvested and converted into electrical energy using wind turbines. This research was conducted to analyze the feasibility of the design performance of the horizontal axis wind turbine blade NACA airfoil 6510. The feasibility analysis of the performance can be known from the simulation results by referring to the resulting efficiency value. The analysis was carried out by studying literature to determine the characteristics of the NACA airfoil 6510 and performance simulation using Qblade software. The design is carried out using data on the average maximum wind speed in Indonesia of 12 m/s. Therefore, the results of the feasibility of wind turbine blade design performance with NACA airfoil 6510 have an efficiency of 44%.
