Abstract

Dye sensitized solar cell (DSSC) is the third generation of solar cells that currently developing by researchers to get the best performance. The selection of dye as a component of DSSC has a big influence in the light absorption process. In this study, DN-F01 organic dye was used as a sensitizer with various concentrations. The optical properties test was carried out on the DN-F01 dye solution by UV-Vis spectrophotometer (Shimadzu UV-1800) and the DSSC fabricated performance was tested by portable solar simulator (ORIEL Sol1A). From the results, the DN-F01 absorbance has ability to absorb light in the 300-500 nm wavelength range. The greatest efficiency value in this research is 2.44% obtained from the sample was immersed with the largest concentration of dye DN-F01 which has the smallest band gap energy of 2.38 eV.

Abstract

We report the structural properties of TiO2 (Titanium dioxide) thin films grown using sol-gel spin coating method for temperature treatment (with temperature 50o C and without temperature) The difference in temperature is carried out to determine changes in the surface of the sample by using heating or not. Ideally, the thickness of the TiO2 layer ranges from 10-15 μm, therefore in this study it was carried out in 5 layers. Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM) consist of surface morphology, Cross-section sample, and EDX images, respectively, providing the structure of the surface. The result confirm that temperature treatment can damage the surface coating, this is proven by the shape of the crack in the coating.

Abstract

Thanks to the addition of copper (Cu) metal into black rice (Oryza sativa L. indica) dye as an active material, It has been successfully developed Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells (DSSC). The structure of the sample as a sandwich consisting of the working electrode (TiO2), dye, electrode of platinum (Pt) and the electrolyte sandwiched between two electrodes. Extraction process of black rice Dye was stirred for 30 minutes, then mixed with copper metal (Cu) and be waited for 24 hours. Cu metal was obtained by stirring Copper Sulfate Pentahydrate for 2 hours. The Current and voltage (I-V) of the sample was characterized by using Keithley 2602A. The measurement results showed that the inserting Cu metal of 2 g (0.36 M) was reached the highest efficiency of 0.0217%.

Abstract

Abstract

Organic waste generated from household activities such as food scraps, vegetables, and fruit peels contributes significantly to the increasing volume of municipal waste. Improper management of organic waste can cause environmental problems including unpleasant odors, greenhouse gas emissions, and increased pressure on landfill sites. Therefore, simple and sustainable waste management methods are needed at the household level. This study aims to introduce and evaluate the use of a stacked bucket composter as a practical solution for processing household organic waste. The method used in this study involves the design and implementation of a stacked bucket composting system consisting of several plastic buckets arranged vertically, where the upper bucket functions as the main composting chamber and the lower bucket collects the liquid produced during decomposition. Organic waste is added regularly and supported by natural decomposing agents to accelerate the composting process. The findings show that the stacked bucket composter can effectively reduce household organic waste while producing solid compost and liquid organic fertilizer that can be utilized for plant growth. The system is relatively inexpensive, easy to construct, and suitable for limited residential spaces. The implication of this study indicates that the adoption of stacked bucket composters can encourage community participation in sustainable waste management and contribute to environmental conservation by reducing the amount of organic waste disposed of in landfills.

Abstract

Senditized Dye Solar Cells (DSSC) consist of photoelectrode, dye, electrolyte and counter electrode which is one of the photochemical electric cells. In this article will discuss the influence of the thickness of the electrode on the electrical properties. Electrodes made by screen printing method. Screen by type T-49. TiO2 deposited on the FTO variation of the number of layers to obtain a thickness of 1, 2, 3 and 4. DSSC tested thickness by Screen Electron Microscopy (SEM), absorbance test by UV Visible Lambda 25 and characterization of current and voltage test by Keithley Measurenment 2602A. The test results showed the thickness of the TiO2 electrode thickness (1.5 ± 0.2) μm, (2.9 ± 0.5) μm, (3.5 ± 0.6) μm, and (4.5 ± 0.8 ) μm. Based on the test results absorbance maximum value contained in thickness (4.5 ± 0.8) μm having a dye adsorbed at most and have the highest efficiency  2.41%.
