Abstract

Wounds are the loss or damage of part of the body's tissues that come from internal or external, resulting in several effects, namely bleeding, blood clotting, cell death, bacterial contamination and loss of some organ functions. This study aimed to examine the effect of giving ethanol extract ointment from mini-eggplant leaves (Solanum torvum Swartz) on wound healing in male white mice (Mus musculus). As many as 25 animals were induced with cuts and divided into 5 treatment groups, namely the positive control group (vaseline album), the comparison group (povidone iodine ointment 10%) and the treatment group with the ethanol extract of mini-eggplant leaf ointment (Solanum torvum Swartz) with a concentration of 2,5%, 5% and 10%. The ointment was applied according to the treatment group once a day for 14 days, measuring the length and width of the wound daily using a caliper to obtain the area of the wound. The data obtained were then analyzed statistically using two-way ANOVA and continued with Duncan's test. The results of statistical analysis showed that the ethanol extract of mini-eggplant leaf (Solanum torvum Swartz) ointment had a significant effect on the healing of the wound area in male white mice (p<0.05). Mini-eggplant leaf ethanol extract ointment group had effectiveness on wound healing, which was indicated by the smaller the wound area in the test animals. The smallest area is shown at 5% ointment concentration, and the longer the time of administration of the ointment the smaller the incision area is shown on day 14.

Abstract

Burns are injuries that are caused by direct contact with heat, chemicals, electricity and radiation that cause tissue, muscle, nerve skin damage and tearing of blood vessels to disrupt the body's balance. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of preparation and time on the reduction of burn area in male white rats. All rats were induced by burns and divided into 5 groups, namely the bioplacenton preparation group, synergy herbal oil, aloevera medigel, then treated with the preparation for 28 days. Wound area measurements were carried out on days 0, 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24 and 28, then histopathological examination of the rat skin tissue was carried out on the final day. The data from the study measuring the area of the wound were analyzed using the Two-Way Anova method followed by Duncan's, then quantitative descriptive histopathology using the Kruskal Wallis method. The results of statistical analysis of preparation and time had a significant effect on decreasing burn area in male white rats (<0.05). The dosage and time groups have effectiveness in reducing wound area, where the percentage of the largest decrease in wound area is in the herbal preparation of Medigel aloevera and the longer the time of administration of the preparation the greater the percentage decrease in wound area. In addition, the histopathological state of rat skin tissue at the end of the day for all groups was in a mature state in epithelial cells and 6-10 blood vessel cells with score 2.

Abstract

Ultraviolet rays that have the most influence on skin health are ultraviolet B radiation because they have the strongest effect in causing photodamage to the skin. One way to minimize skin damage from ultraviolet exposure is the need for antioxidant compounds. Ipomoea batatas leaves have potential as antioxidant agents because their phytochemical components are higher than the tuber, contain secondary metabolites of flavonoids, phenolics, saponins and alkaloids. This study aims to determine the ethanolic extract of Ipomoea batatas leaf can be formulated in a cream dosage form that meets the requirements and to determine the difference in the concentration of ethanolic extract of Ipomoea batatas leaf can affect the value of the sun protection factor as a sunscreen. Extracted by maceration of 70% ethanol which was formulated in the form of sunscreen with an extract concentration of 2% (F1), 4% (F2) and 6% (F3) and followed by an in-line SPF test using UV-Vis spectrophotometry. The results of this study indicate that the preparation meets the requirements of organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, dispersibility, adhesion and viscosity during a storage period of 28 days and the measurement results of the preparation with a concentration of 500 ppm at a wavelength of 290-320 nm for each formula. SPF values were obtained at F1 4.4 (moderate protection), F2 5.5 (medium protection) and F3 7.6 (extra protection). This research can be said that the ethanolic extract of purple sweet potato leaves can be formulated in the form of cream preparations and cream preparations at F1, F2 and F3 meet the requirements of a good cream.

Abstract

Skin damage is caused by sunlight which interferes with the health of human skin, so it needs sunscreen protection, where sunscreen has the ability to protect the skin. Pegagan is a plant that contains many secondary metabolites, one of which is flavonoids which can be used as sunscreen. The research was conducted to formulate a spray gel preparation of pegagan (Centella asiatica (L.) Urban) ethanol extract which has an SPF value for UV radiation protection. Pegagan was extracted by maceration method using 70% ethanol as solvent. The extracts obtained were made into spray gel preparations with concentrations of pegagan ethanol extract F1(2%), F2(4%), and F3(6%). Spray gel from pegagan ethanol extract was evaluated for 28 days including organoleptic, homogeneity, viscosity, pH, adhesive dispersion, and spraying pattern. Determination of the results of sunscreen power using uv-vis spectrophotometry method. The results showed that all of the spray gel preparations had met the requirements. The preparation of pegagan ethanol extract spray gel has a slightly thick texture, dark green color, has a characteristic aroma of pegagan and is homogeneous. It has a viscosity value of 1650,75 cPs-1804,5 cPs, with a pH value of 5,7. The results of the evaluation of the spreadability of sticking to the skin while the spraying pattern is elongated and spread. The activity of sunscreen spray gel ethanol extract of pegagan was measured at a wavelength of 290-320 nm with an interval of 5, the best SPF value was found in formula 3 (6%) with an SPF value of 18,32 including the ultra category.

Abstract

Antibiotics are drugs that function to prevent and treat infections caused by bacteria. Antibiotics given to patients irrationally can cause resistance. Antibiotic resistance is a condition where the body becomes resistant to antibiotics. Inappropriate use of antibiotics is influenced by several factors, such as knowledge problems. One of the efforts in improving knowledge about the use of antibiotics is by providing information. Providing drug information is part of pharmaceutical services that include the selection, use, determination of drugs, and how to administer the right drugs. The purpose of this study was to determine the knowledge of patients in the use of antibiotics before and after providing information and whether there is a significant influence between the provision of information on the level of knowledge. This study is descriptive with accidental sampling method using pretest and posttes design. The instrument used was a questionnaire, then the results were analyzed using chi square test analysis. In this study, the level of knowledge of respondents after being given information about the use of antibiotics at the highest percentage was in the less category (73.2%) and after being given information was in the good category (99.9%). There was no significant influence between the level of knowledge of respondents before and after giving information about antibiotics with a p value of 0.161.
