Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the ideas and thoughts of multiculturalism. The method used in this study uses the library method. The result of this research is that the concept of multiculturalism has three components. The first is related to culture; Second, this concept is related to cultural pluralism; And third, the concept includes specific ways of dealing with this diversity. Therefore, multiculturalism is not a practical political doctrine, but a perspective or a kind of idealism in human life. The conclusions of the research show that multiculturalism corrects the weaknesses of the idea of ​​fusion, including: (1) Dividing the cultural movement into two parts, namely: Opening up space for all ethnic groups to express themselves in the same cultural order and private spaces used by every free ethnic group. to express their culture. Abstract

This research aims to examine the effect of organizational commitment and job satisfaction on high school principals’ affective commitment. The research employed a quantitative survey. The samples researched were 90 senior high school principals in Jakarta. The data were collected through a series of questionnaires. The data were then analyzed using descriptive statistics and path analysis. The results indicated that: 1) organizational commitment gave a positive direct effect on the principals’ affective commitment; 2) job satisfaction gave a significant direct effect on the principals’ job satisfaction, and 3) organizational commitment gave a positive direct effect on the principals’ job satisfaction. The present research implies that the provincial education board is strongly suggested to keep performing fair procedural justice prescribed by regulations to maintain the principals working satisfactorily and feeling attached to their schools.

Abstract

Affective commitment is ultimately carried out by a leader in an organization, including in high schools. This study mainly aims to examine the influence of personality and job satisfaction on the affective commitment of high school principals mediated by motivation. A quantitative survey was employed in this study. The sample studied was 90 public high school principals in Jakarta, Indonesia. The data were collected through a questionnaire, which has been tested for validity and reliability. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) using SmartPLS 3.0 software. The results showed a significant relationship between the public school principals’ personality and job satisfaction on their affective commitment which is mediated by motivation. In more detail, the results indicated: i) a positive direct effect of personality on affective commitment, personality on motivation, and job satisfaction on the motivation of public school principals; ii) no significant direct effect of job satisfaction on affective commitment; and iii) a mediating role of motivation, that directs to a positive and significant influence on personality, job satisfaction, and principals’ affective commitment. The study’s implications for related authorities are presented.
