Abstract

Indonesia is one of the six countries with a high burden of TB and HIV. The prevalence of TB-HIV cases at all ages is as much as 4.9%; The study aimed to provide an assessment of PITC implementation in high coverage and low coverage in HIV detection among TB patients. This study descriptive, analytic, cross-sectional with the consecutive sampling method. Data used in this research was secondary data collected from January until December 2017 conducted in 5 of the 23 cities with a high burden of TB-HIV. Using a routine reporting system by primary health care and regional health service in the district. The total sample size included TB patients registered in 5 cities 16.097 patients, 8022 patients (2.365 from low PITC, 5657 from high PITC) TB patients who had received the PITC program of this 3,5% were HIV positive. Additionally, was detected by percentage among TB patients in the high-coverage PITC area compared to in the low-coverage PITC area was 4.3:2.6. Male patients had a double risk of having HIV-positive results compared to female patients. Furthermore, the analysis also showed that productive age patients are more likely to have HIV infection compared to other age groups. Male sex aged 26 to 36 years 78-94% of them were at risk of having HIV infection. The implementation of PITC in countries with high TB / HIV burden has shown an increase in TB-HIV patient detection but still needs to be followed by ARV treatment to reduce mortality.

Abstract

Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS-CoV-2) causes the 2019 Coronavirus Disease pandemic. Convalescent plasma is the first choice in the current situation because it has been used successfully in other coronavirus outbreaks. Convalescent plasma administration has an immunomodulatory effect on the lungs through the induction of anti-inflammatory cytokines and antibodies that inhibit the complement cascade (C3a, C5a) and the antiviral effect of NAbs. IgG and IgM are the main isotypes, and the humoral immune response is primarily the spike protein (S). Its anti-inflammatory effect controls an overactive immune system (cytokine storm, Th1/Th17 ratio, complement activation and regulation of hypercoagulable states) and synergistically with standard therapy leads to the development of primary clinical outcomes. The use of convalescent plasma has an impact on reducing the morbidity of patients with severe or critical COVID-19.

Abstract

Tuberculosis recurrence is caused by reinfection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis that has already been experienced or infection with a new strain of bacteria. The increasing incidence of TBMDR in the community accelerates the spread of TBMDR. Objective: To identify TBMDR treatment failure in relapse cases, and category 1 and 2 treatment failure. Method: Retrospective. Secondary data from the Ministry of Health SITB, 2017-2019 period shows that the sample size of relapses, category 1 and 2 treatment is 466 patients. Results: the relapse bivariate test and treatment failure categories 1 and 2 obtained a p-value of <0.05 (age 17-about 60 years and second-line sensitivity test). They are affected by HIV status. The regression results of the second sensitization test strongly influenced TB-relapsed patients to fail, dropout, and complete treatment compared to cured treatment patients, still-relapsed 17-44 years old patients, and category 1 and 2 treatment failure were more likely to be LFU than recover, and the second sensitivity test affected treatment failure and completion rather than recovery, although HIV status did not affect treatment outcomes. Conclusion: Strategy to reduce the rate of recurrence and conversion failure by examining genetic mutations (biomarkers) of M. tuberculosis. Keywords: Relapse, treatment failure, sensitization test, outcome treatment.

Abstract

Background: Body image refers to an individual's perception of their physical appearance, which may influence self-confidence and exercise habits. During adolescence and early adulthood, significant physical and psychological changes often result in body dissatisfaction, potentially affecting patterns of physical activity. Exercise is a structured form of physical activity intended to promote health and maintain physical fitness. This study aimed to examine the relationship between body image and exercise habits among female medical students. Methods: A quantitative analytic study with a cross-sectional design was conducted involving 100 female medical students in the academic phase (class of 2020–2022) at the Faculty of Medicine, UIN Jakarta. Participants were selected using random sampling. Data on body image and exercise habits were collected using validated questionnaires and analyzed using the chi-square test. Results: The analysis revealed a statistically significant negative association between body image and exercise habits (p = 0.006; p < 0.05). Students with a negative body image were more likely to engage in frequent exercise compared to those with a positive body image. Conclusion: Body image significantly influences exercise habits among medical students. A better understanding of this relationship may support the development of health promotion strategies that foster consistent exercise routines without reinforcing negative body perceptions.
