Abstract

The aim of the research is to determine mini-group discussion as a cooperative learning in teaching reading. In the article, the method used is quantitative and descriptive qualitative which focus on teaching reading English text of Unhasy Students non-English department. It focus on some problems, those are How the implementation of mini group discussion (mindis) in teaching reading English and How the influence of (Mindis) into students’ ability in reading English comprehension. The researcher used test as an instrument and interview of the students. The result of the research are Mindis is easy to teach reading English in non-English department and it has significant influence into the students' ability in reading English.

Abstract

This research is a research to test whether the use of picture series media is influence in teaching writing. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there was a significant difference in the writing ability of students who were taught using the picture series. The population of this research is the eighth grade students of MTs Nurul Qur'an Jogoroto in the academic year 2022/2023. The total population is 215 students divided into six classes, each class contains between 35-38 students. The sample in this study was class VIII 5 and VIII 6 MTs Nurul Quran Jogoroto, totaling 70 students. The researcher used Quasi Experimental Class method to obtain score data. The researcher conducted a normality test to find out whether the data was normal or not. Based on the data normality test that has been carried out by the researcher, it shows that sig. 2-tailed is 0.000 meaning that data is normally distributed. Then, it will be continued with a mann whitney test. Based on the testing the hypothesis terms, if score of t is sig. < 0.05, Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. In the mann whitney test calculation, the data shows sig.(2-tailed) 0.000. The data lower than 0.5, it means that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out whether character education in the "English for Nusantara" textbook for seventh-grade students is in accordance with the current curriculum. This research analyzed character education contained in the reading and conversational texts of the textbook. The research methodology used a descriptive qualitative approach and content analysis technique. The characters found in the textbook were classified into six dimensions of the Pancasila Student Profile. The results showed that the six dimensions of the Pancasila Student Profile were found. The dimension of having faith, fear of God Almighty, having a noble character 33.2%, global diversity 12.9%, mutual cooperation 16.7%, independent 20.4%, critical reasoning 7.5%, and creative 9.3%. In the six dimensions of the Pancasila Student Profile, which have 20 elements, only 19 were found, while one element that was not found was intercultural communication and interaction. The characters in this book are mostly integrated implicitly. The primary focus dimension of the “English for the Nusantara” textbook was having faith, fear of God Almighty, and having noble character. In addition, the main focus element in this textbook was the manner towards others. Based on the classification of character education stated by Prismarani (2014), this textbook scored 95% and was classified as ‘very high’ quality.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out whether or not the use of anagram game effective to improve the students’ vocabulary mastery. The researcher conducted a pre-experimental group design. The population of this research is the seventh-grade students of SMPN 1 Diwek Jombang in academic year 2023-2024. The total number of the first-class is 256 students. The sample in this study was class VII-A SMPN 1 Diwek Jombang, totaling 32 students. Based on the data normality test that has been carried out by the researcher, it shows that sig. 2-tailed in pre-test is 0.200 and post-test is 0.100 meaning that the data is normally distributed, the it will be continued with a simple paired t-test. Based on the testing of hypothesis terms, if the score of t is sig. <0.05, H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. On the simple paired t-test calculation, the data shows sig. (2-tail) 0.000. the data is smaller than 0.05, meaning that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Audio-Lingual Method (ALM) on students' pronunciation performance. Proper pronunciation is one of the important aspects in foreign language learning, especially English, which is often a challenge for students. This study was conducted using a quasi-experimental design, in which two different groups of students were given different treatments: one group was given instruction using the Audio-Lingual method, while the other group was given the conventional method. Data was collected through pronunciation tests conducted before and after the intervention. The results showed a significant improvement in the pronunciation performance of students who received treatment with the Audio-Lingual method compared to the control group. The findings support the hypothesis that the Audio-Lingual method is effective in improving students' pronunciation skills. This study makes an important contribution to language teaching, particularly in improving students' pronunciation skills through a more structured and repetitive approach.

Abstract

This study sought empirical proof of the effectiveness of using crossword puzzle games to help students in class VIIB of SMPN 1 Diwek learn vocabulary during the academic year 2022–2023. Pre-experimental design and quantitative methodology were utilized in this study's research design. Students in class VIIB are the sample in this study. According to the research findings, there is a noticeable difference in students' vocabulary proficiency before and after using crossword puzzle games to teach them. The outcome of the descriptive statistics revealed that (85.78 > 69.53) the mean score of the students' posttest was higher than the mean score of their pretest. Additionally, the results of this research were calculated using the paired sample t-test. The outcome is a significance value between 0.000 and 0.05. It denotes acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (H1) and rejection of the null hypothesis (H0). Thus, it can be stated that employing crossword puzzle games to teach kids vocabulary is beneficial because there is a noticeable change in their vocabulary achievement before and after the application of the strategy.
