Abstract

Geopark Galunggung is a platform that accommodates the various potentials of the Kabuapaten Tasikmalaya, in the aspects of geodiversity, biodiversity and cultural diversity. To be able to realize the Galunggung Geopark, active interaction of the local community is required to maintain and preserve the cultural diversity of the geopark area. This study includes four sub-districts namely Leuwisari, Sariwangi, Sukaratu and Padakembang Districts. These four sub-districts are areas that have a lot of diversity in potential compared to other regions. The method used in this research is descriptive method with a qualitative approach and phenomenological studies. Observation data techniques, interviews, documentation study and literature study. The results of this study, the cultural diversity that exists in society is tangible (tangbile) and intangible (intangible), but conditions in the field have a lot of cultural diversity that has almost disappeared due to the times.

Abstract

Abstract

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is an important instrument in ensuring that all development activities are carried out sustainably without neglecting environmental protection aspects. This study aims to examine the development of the concept, regulations, and role of EIA in environmental management through a literature review approach. Various scientific sources were used to explore how AMDAL has developed since the enactment of the initial provisions on environmental management to the latest regulations that strengthen AMDAL's position as an instrument for environmental licensing and supervision. The results of the study show that AMDAL has a strategic role in identifying potential negative impacts, formulating mitigation measures, and ensuring the integration of development policies and environmental sustainability. In addition, regulatory changes over time indicate an increase in the government's commitment to environmental protection through the improvement of the AMDAL mechanism. Thus, AMDAL has become an instrument that is not only normative but also operational in realizing environmentally conscious and sustainable development.

Abstract

Green Canyon Pangandaran is a renowned natural tourism destination known for its stunning ecosystem. However, this breathtaking natural attraction also faces challenges in maintaining a balance between environmental conservation and tourism growth. This study aims to understand the conservation strategies implemented in Green Canyon and their impact on both the ecosystem and the tourism industry in the area. This research employs a qualitative approach using observation, interviews, and literature studies. The findings indicate that implementing a community-based ecotourism concept, enforcing strict regulations on tourism activities, and providing environmental education for visitors and tourism stakeholders play a crucial role in maintaining a balance between nature conservation and economic benefits. However, challenges remain, such as the surge in tourist numbers without adequate supervision and the lack of environmental awareness among some visitors. To ensure the sustainability of Green Canyon, close collaboration between the government, local communities, and tourism operators is essential in implementing more sustainable policies. This study provides recommendations for conservation-based management strategies to ensure that Green Canyon and other natural tourism destinations can continue to be enjoyed by future generations without compromising environmental preservation.

Abstract

This research focuses on the development of a Virtual Reality Environment (VRE) designed for geography instruction, specifically targeting volcanic stratigraphy within the Mount Bromo region. Subsequently, the study evaluates user experience (UX) to determine the media's technical usability and its capacity for pedagogical engagement. This virtual reality environment  media is produced through a series of scientific research and development procedures (plomp model) which comprises three distinct phases: preliminary research, prototyping, and assessment. User response data were gathered via the User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ) administered to 25 tenth-grade students, evaluating both pragmatic and hedonistic qualities. The user experience evaluation indicated that the VRE media effectively facilitates the identification of volcanic rock layers. The results demonstrated high levels of clarity and efficiency, suggesting that the immersive environment assists students in distinguishing complex stratigraphic features that are otherwise difficult to observe in traditional settings. In addition, they indirectly stated that this VRE media is efficient enough to explore learning to distant places, useful, exciting, interesting, motivate them to learn, and has a good novelty for exploring geography learning.
