Abstract

Education is essentially an interaction between educator (teacher) with learners (students) to achieve educational goals. This interaction is called the interaction of education, which is means a process of mutual influence between educators with learners in learning. According to Indonesia law no. 20 of 2003 explained that education is a conscious and deliberate effort to create an atmosphere of learning and the learning process so that learners are actively developing the potential for him to have a religious spiritual strength, self-control, personality, intelligence, noble character, and skills needed him, society, nation, and the state. Education in general aim to help the students in developing themselves, namely the development of all the potential, skills, and personal characteristics of the positive direction, both for themselves and their environment. This research aims to know and understand about the dominant role of cognitive theory by Jean Piaget in the selection of an appropriate learning model. The problems discussed in this paper are: (1) how is the child's development according to Jean Piaget's cognitive dominant theory? (2) what kind of learning model suitable to be applied in the daily practice and their implications in the education system at school? Based on the result of discussion, it is known that according to the dominant cognitive theories by Jean Piaget, cognition evolved not because someone receives knowledge from outside the person passively but actively constructs the knowledge. The learning model is suitable to be applied by the dominant cognitive theory according to Piaget, a model of bottom-up or partnership. Such as quantum learning model, cooperative learning model, problem-based learning model, learning environment model, etc. To realize the whole process is a good thing with colaboration between learning model that is able to develop a whole person.

Abstract

This research aimed at knowing the effectiveness of online learning design with an e-portfolio approach in increasing self-efficacy in speaking ability. Seventy-seven students were involved in this study. They are in the second semester of a vocational college in Business Administration Department in the academic year 2020/2021. This research is experimental research with implementing paired samples t-test as the measurement tool in knowing the effectiveness of e-portfolio based learning by finding the t score and the sig value before and after the implementation of the teaching method. The result of this study showed that e-portfolio based learning had a significant effect on the student's self-efficacy in their speaking ability. It was indicated by the value of the sig and t result from paired samples t-test analysis which was showed 0.000 as the sig value and -20.551 as the t count. The result of sig value which is below 0.05 and the t-count which is above t-table were clear indicators to argue that e-portfolio significantly impacted the student's self-efficacy in speaking ability. In this case, the variables of self-efficacy in speaking ability were improved significantly by the implementation of e-portfolio based learning. Even the implementation of e-portfolio brings many positive impacts on the students, some limitations lie on this method implementation. The limitation of this method lies in the time execution and the number of students who are taught by the lecturer.

Abstract

English is one of the primary subject that was taught in Electronic Engineering, Politeknik Negeri Bali, which includes speaking, writing and listening. Other than speaking, writing also become one of the most challenging subject in Electronic Engineering. To overcome the low writing skills of students and create pleasant learning atmosphere during the Covid 19 Pandemic, the authors want to try out learning method, namely Cooperative Learning Method with online media in the form of whatsapp. This research is a quantitative research with quasi experimental approach. The groups used in this study consist of two groups namely the experimental group using Whatsapp Cooperative Learning methods and the control grouos using the conventional method. The data collection technique in this study was in the form of a questionnaire and given to the students in both classes. From the data, it can be concluded that learning with  the Whatsapp Cooperative Learning method is more effective to be used in teaching writing. It can be seen from the value of 2 of -2, 087 with Sig 0,037< 0,05 means that there is significant difference between the control class and the experimental class. This significant difference can be said as the result of the use of Whatsapp Cooperative Learning in class.

Abstract

In an era where learning cannot be separated from technology, there are various Android-based applications that are very helpful, interesting and make learning adapt to the learner's time. Learning media is the learning source component that is able to stimulate students to study (Arsyad: 2005). In this paper the learning media is application. One such application is the Cake application. This application is a learning application that deserves to be tested because it has several advantages. One of the advantages of using learning applications is that there is no limited space and time for learners to learn. Learning is no longer limited to lecture rooms or lecture time. learning can be anytime and anywhere. The purpose of this research is to find out whether the Cake application has an effect on students who use it, especially in the speaking field, more specifically the pronunciation. This research is a type of quantitative research with a quasi-experimental approach. The design used is "Pretest – Posttest Non-Equivalent Control Group Design". The groups used in this study amounted to 2 groups, namely the experimental group using online learning and the control group using online learning as well but added with the application of Cake. In this study, according to determine the experimental class and control class, random assignment was done, namely, the selection was made randomly to choose the class. This research will provide benefits for teachers who want to try to apply the method so that it will be a reference later in the future.

Abstract

This study explores students' perceptions regarding the effectiveness of e-portfolio-based digital modules in a hybrid learning environment. The study involved 77 students in the Business Administration Department of a vocational college during the 2021/2022 academic year. Data was collected through a questionnaire with five aspects of e-module implementation and semi-structured interviews. The results indicate that the e-module created has a substantial impact on students' learning, both online and offline. Experts have previously indicated that e-portfolios allow students to build their independent learning environments, and students in this study confirm that access to electronic modules through smartphones offers a new learning approach. However, further development of the module into web-based materials is recommended to help students learn more efficiently. Overall, the integration of e-portfolio-based digital modules in a hybrid learning environment provides students with positive effects on their independent learning process.

Abstract

An appropriate learning method is a basic way for learners to be able to achieve maximum grades and the achievement of existing learning objectives. The Flipped Classroom method is one of the new methods in Indonesia which can be one of the preferred methods that can be applied in teaching English. Surely, a trial is required to measure its effectiveness. The current study has two purposes, the first one was to determine whether the Flipped Classroom learning method was able to effectively improve student learning outcomes, especially in English lectures. Then, secondly, the purpose was how to apply Flipped Classroom in the classroom. This research is quantitative descriptive research with a quasi-experimental approach, employing a "Pretest – Posttest Non-Equivalent Control Group Design". The current study involved 2 groups, namely the experimental group, taught using Flipped Classroom learning and the control group taught using conventional learning (without flipped Classroom design). It was found that the value of sig. Levene's test is 0.696 > 0.05, indicating that the data variance between the control class and the experimental class is homogeneous. Furthermore, the value of sig. (2-tailed) for the t-test, the value produces a value of 0.000 <0.05, then the decision-making in the t-test is to reject the Ho hypothesis and accept the Ha hypothesis. Thus, it can be interpreted that there is a significant difference between the average N-Gain scores of the control and experimental classes in English Engineering. It can be concluded that Flipped Classroom is effective in improving students' English skills in the topic of Describing Processes, as evidenced by the N-Gain value of 90, 91% which is included in the effective category. In other words, Flipped Classroom is effective to increase the students' scores in the class.
