Abstract

ABSTRACT Papua as the highest HIV-AIDS prevalence region in Indonesia will be against Tuberculosis (TB) as opportunistic infection of the majority of patients with HIV-AIDS. The success of the treatment is determined by how the patients handle the side effects of FDC (Fixed Drug Combination) successfully during taking the drug for 6-8 months. This study was aimed to find out some influenced factors leading to fail treatment for HIV-AIDS patients after getting FDC (Fixed Dose Combination) drug, from Januari 2011 to September 2012. The retrospective descriptive method was taken to collect data from the medical records, TB- 01 form, and the microbiological testing for TB patients from January 2011 to September 2012. Descriptive study from medical record of 124 TB-HIV coinfection patients in RS Dok II Jayapura, Papua in January 2011 – September 2012 resulted that 35 of 124 patients represented as default patients and they did not have someone as treatment observer because they wanted to keep their HIV status. Patient who has someone from the core family as observer treatment can complete TB treatment and getting help in through all the side effect of FDC drug.
