Abstract

This paper aims to describe, understand, search and retrieve messages of educational values, especially the value of solidarity on the story of ants and prophet Sulaiman in Surah al-Naml, to explain the implementation of solidarity education that existed in the Surah al-Naml in Islamic education in Indonesia. The story of ants and prophet Sulaiman a.s in Surat al-Naml contained various messages of educational values especially the value of solidarity for every reader. These values have been exemplified by ants, when the ant leader instructs his crew to immediately back into the nest because the prophet Sulaiman and his army will pass through the place. In this case, these small animals (ants) have exemplified the caring attitude towards others, mutual help, social feeling, sacrificial spirit, responsibility, and togetherness. To implement the solidarity education in Islamic education need three components, they are: planning, implementation, and evaluation. Planning of solidarity education in Islamic Religious Education can be done during the preparation of learning in the form of syllabus, semester program (promes), annual program (prota) and Lesson Plan (RPP) by incorporating the values of solidarity implicitly or explicitly. The implementation of solidarity education can be included in intracurricular and extracurricular learning.

Abstract

COVID-19 has become a global epidemic, many things have changed, including in terms of education which is usually done face-to-face, turning into online learning. During this pandemic, MIN throughout Tuban Regency also implemented online learning systems by means of Zoom online applications, WhatsApp groups, E-Learning, and Google from. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of learning with the online system of MIN students in Tuban Regency during the Covid-19 Pandemic. This research is a qualitative descriptive study, with the place of research in MIN throughout Tuban Regency which was carried out on March 1 - May 31, 2021. The resource persons were the principal, the teacher council, students and guardians of students. Data was collected by using observation, interview, questionnaire, and documentation techniques. Data analysis uses Miles and Hubeman's theory, namely by collecting data, reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. The results of observations show that online learning for MIN students in Tuban Regency is not effective, as well as the results of interviews and questionnaires showing that online learning for MIN students in Tuban Regency is not effective with several indicators showing that the ideal percentage of time for student activities in the learning process has not been achieved, the teacher council not good at managing learning with an online system, as well as positive responses from students to the components of learning and learning activities that do not reach 80% of the number of subjects studied.

Abstract

Artikel ini menganalisa makna filosofis surah Yusuf yang secara utuh mengisahkan perjalan hidup Nabi Yusuf As. sejak kecil hingga menjadi raja di Mesir. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan library reseach. Melalui pendekatan filosofis, penulis menganalisa makna filosofis yang terkandung di dalamnya, meliputi nilai-nilai kesabaran, ujian hidup, rahasia ilahi, hikmah dalam kejadian, pembangunan karakter dan sistem pangan yang tepat. Pendekatan ini memungkinkan untuk mengeksplorasi pesan-pesan spiritual yang terkandung dalam kisah kehidupan Nabi Yusuf As. Penelitian ini juga membahas relevansi surah Yusuf dalam konteks kehidupan manusia modern. Dengan memperdalam pemahaman tentang makna filosofis yang terkandung dalam surah Yusuf, diharapkan pembaca dapat memperoleh pencerahan spiritual, mendapatkan wawasan tentang bagaimana menghadapi tantangan hidup dan membangun karakter yang kuat yang relevan dalam konteks manusia modern.

Abstract

Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan bimbingan membaca Al-Qur'an dengan baik dan benar. Dalam proses ini, metode Jibril sebagai metode pembelajaran Al-Qur'an, dan pendekatan yang diterapkan dalam pengabdian ini adalah Participatory Action Research. PAR adalah metode riset pengabdian di mana penulis terlibat secara langsung dan berpartisipasi sebagai pembimbing di lokasi pelaksanaan pengabdian. Hasilnya pengabdian ini telah meningkatkan kualitas bacaan Al-Qur'an di kalangan warga lansia setempat, meskipun belum mencapai khatam. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan pengabdian lanjutan agar proses bimbingan dapat mencapai khatam.

Abstract

The Qur'anic literacy in pesantren plays a crucial role in eliminating Qur'anic illiteracy and fostering a generation of literate individuals. This article aimed to explore the tradition of Qur'anic literacy and its significance in both traditional and modern pesantren in Tuban. The research methodology was qualitative, employing a field study with a phenomenological approach to comprehend the tradition of Qur'anic literacy and its interpretation. Data was gathered through interviews, observations, and documentation, and was analyzed using an interactive analysis model consisting of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The analysis is based on Karl Mannheim's theory of the sociology of knowledge, which posits that actions and interpretations of meaning influence human behavior. Mannheim identifies three types of meaning in social action: objective, expressive, and documentary. The study concludes that the tradition of reading and writing the Qur'an in traditional and modern pesantren involves complex interpretations. The objective meaning is derived from social and religious norms in Islamic boarding schools, making this tradition an integral part of religious education and identity. The expressive meaning for kiai and santri represents obedience, devotion, and spiritual relationships influenced by personal backgrounds and relationships with teachers. The documentary meaning reflects the cultural aspects of pesantren, influences the actions and values of the community, and mirrors the ideology of traditionalism, adaptability, and respect for religious authority. Despite differences in educational approaches, these traditional and modern pesantren share similarities in scientific lineage ‘sanad’, which makes the roots of tradition and interpretation similar. This study underscores the importance of understanding the dynamics of tradition in pesantren.

Abstract

Studies on the Living Qur’an in pesantren mostly emphasize exegetical, aesthetic, and functional aspects, with limited attention to how Qur’anic meaning emerges through lived experience. Prior research has also not examined how spiritual and socio-economic engagements with the Qur’an extend beyond Rafiq’s typology. This gap underscores the need to reassess Qur’anic reception through a phenomenological lens. This research examines the dynamics of Al-Qur'an reception in pesantren by expanding A. Rafiq's typology—which includes exegesis, aesthetics, and functional—through two new categories: eternal and economic reception. The study aims to reconstruct and enrich the Living Qur'an framework through daily practices in pesantren with different characteristics. Langitan Islamic Boarding School and al-Muhibbin Jatirogo Islamic Boarding School, Tuban were selected because they represent the two main pesantren models in Indonesia: salaf and modern. Langitan is known as a historical salaf pesantren that maintains classical methods such as sorogan, bandongan, and halaqah, along with a strong emphasis on classical texts and established traditions. Meanwhile, al-Muhibbin represents a modern pesantren with a collective management system, an integrated curriculum, and programs to strengthen foreign languages. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with Edmund Husserl's phenomenological analysis. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The results show that in a Husserlian phenomenological view, Qurʾānic reception in pesantren is seen as an intentional act of consciousness in which meaning emerges through lived experience rather than mere interaction with the text. Within this process, the Qurʾān functions as a dynamic noema shaped by communal practices and pedagogical structures, generating forms such as divine blessing, spiritual nobility, legitimized authority, and economic value. These findings show that Qur’anic meaning in pesantren is shaped through embodied practice and economic engagement. Further research may examine how these dimensions interact in pesantren and wider Muslim communities amid digitalization and modern educational reforms. Penelitian tentang Living Qur’an di pesantren selama ini lebih banyak menekankan aspek eksegesis, estetis, dan fungsional, sementara perhatian terhadap bagaimana makna Al-Qur’an terbentuk melalui pengalaman hidup masih terbatas. Kajian sebelumnya juga belum menelaah bagaimana keterlibatan spiritual dan sosial-ekonomi terhadap Al-Qur’an melampaui tipologi Rafiq. Kesenjangan ini menunjukkan perlunya meninjau kembali resepsi Al-Qur’an dengan perspektif fenomenologis. Penelitian ini mengkaji dinamika resepsi Al-Qur’an di lingkungan pesantren dengan mengembangkan tipologi A. Rafiq—yang mencakup resepsi eksegetis, estetis, dan fungsional—melalui penambahan dua kategori baru, yaitu resepsi eternal dan resepsi ekonomi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah merekonstruksi dan memperkaya kerangka Living Qur’an melalui praktik keseharian di pesantren yang memiliki karakteristik berbeda. Pesantren Langitan dan Pesantren al-Muhibbin Jatirogo, Tuban dipilih karena mewakili dua model utama pesantren di Indonesia, yakni salaf dan modern. Langitan dikenal sebagai pesantren salaf bersejarah yang mempertahankan metode klasik seperti sorogan, bandongan, dan halaqah, serta penekanan kuat pada kitab-kitab tradisional dan tradisi keagamaan. Sementara itu, al-Muhibbin merepresentasikan pesantren modern dengan sistem manajemen kolektif, kurikulum terpadu, dan program penguatan bahasa asing. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan analisis fenomenologi Edmund Husserl. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam pandangan fenomenologi Husserlian, resepsi Al-Qur’an di pesantren dipahami sebagai tindakan kesadaran intensional, di mana makna muncul melalui pengalaman hidup, bukan semata-mata interaksi tekstual. Dalam proses tersebut, Al-Qur’an berfungsi sebagai noema yang dinamis, dibentuk oleh praktik komunal dan struktur pedagogis, sehingga memunculkan bentuk-bentuk seperti berkah ilahi, kemuliaan spiritual, otoritas yang dilegitimasi, dan nilai ekonomi. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa makna Al-Qur’an di pesantren terbentuk melalui praktik keagamaan yang dihayati secara langsung dan melalui keterlibatan ekonomi komunitas. Penelitian lanjutan perlu mengkaji lebih jauh interaksi antara dimensi ekonomi dan transendental dari resepsi Al-Qur’an di pesantren maupun masyarakat Muslim yang lebih luas, khususnya dalam konteks digitalisasi dan kebijakan pendidikan modern.

Abstract

This study examines the dynamics of tradition and transformation in Qur’anic education in two types of pesantren in East Java: the traditional (salaf) Langitan pesantren and the modern Al-Muhibbin pesantren. The study is driven by the urgency to critically assess how traditional religious institutions respond to socio-cultural changes that affect the transmission, authority, and meaning of Qur’anic education. The research aims to identify the forms of preservation and shifts in Qur’anic educational practices, while analyzing the ideological framing of modernization within the pesantren context. A qualitative approach is employed, utilizing participant observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The findings reveal that the salaf pesantren consistently maintain classical educational structures based on sanad, ritual, and scholarly authority, whereas the modern pesantren develop adaptive innovations that are not always accommodating of traditional values. The novelty of this study lies in its critical reading of the transformation process, which is often simplistically equated with progress, as well as in its conceptual proposal of a synthesis between value preservation and pedagogical innovation. This research contributes theoretically to Islamic education studies by emphasizing the necessity of epistemic continuity amid educational change.
