Abstract

Background. The transition period for novice nurses is the transition of roles as students become professional nurses. Conflict between expectations and the reality of the roles faced can cause stress. The peer learning learning model is a method of learning with peers that aims to develop skills, ways of thinking, solving problems, giving feedback and communicating with others. This study aims to determine the effect of peer learning on nursing care knowledge and work stress on novice nurses in hospital in Jakarta. Methods. This study used a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design. The novice nurse research sample was divided into two groups, namely the intervention group and the control group with the number of each of 35 respondents using purposive sampling technique. Data collection tools use knowledge instruments about nursing care and Nursing Students Clinical Stress Scale. Data analysis using the Wilcoxon test, Chi-Square test, and Multivariate logistic regression. Results. The results showed differences in the quality of knowledge of nursing care and work stress before and after the implementation of peer learning for 3 times in 3 weeks had the possibility of knowledge increased 13 times compared to clinical nurses who did not implement peer learning and had the possibility of reducing work stress 27 times compared to clinical nurses who do not carry out peer learning. Conclusion. The implementation of peer learning is proven to influence the knowledge of nursing care and occupational stress of the novice nurse. It is recommended to carry out scheduled peer learning programs.

Abstract

Introduction. Clinical nurses are competent with good knowledge, skills and attitudes. These efforts are carried out through integrated training adaptation of the concept of Patricia Benner's From Novice to Expert . The study aims to determine the effect of nursing training on increasing knowledge, skills and attitudes. Methods. This research is a quantitative research with a quasy experiment design, using a non-randomized control group pretest and posttest design. The research sample amounted to 100 people, divided into two groups, namely the intervention and control groups with the same number. The study was conducted for 12 weeks. Results. The results of bivariate analysis with a mean score of posttest 97.20, increased 21.6%, knowledge was statistically significant with p = 0.000. the posttest skills average score was 92.96, increased by 23.92%, the skills were statistically significant with p = 0.000 and posttest 50.06 attitude average, increased by 6.44%, statistically significant with p = 0.000, there was the influence of nursing training on increasing clinical nurses' knowledge, skills and attitudes . The results of the multivariate analysis of nursing training were statistically significant for the increase in clinical nurses' knowledge (p = 0.000), having the possibility of knowledge increasing 10 times, increasing skills statistically meaningful (p = 0.000), having the possibility of skills increasing by 1.4 times and statistically significant attitudes (p = 0.000), has the possibility of an increase in attitude 0.8 times compared to not getting training, no confounding variables are affected. Conclusion. Knowledge, skills and attitudes are influenced by nursing training from material aspects, methods, facilities, instructors and post-training evaluation methods. Thus to achieve the optimal quality of knowledge, skills and attitudes, it is recommended to provide assistance, supervision, assistance and guidance in an integrated manner.

Abstract

Introduction. Nurse behavior in prevention of infection and effective communicate aimed at minimizing arrows and maximizing patient safety. Implementation of nurse behavior can be realize by hand washing and communicate is effective and complete. To evaluate the associated behaviors of implementing nurses can be done by supervision method by chief of the room or nursing supervisor. This study aims to determine the effect of interactive supervision training on improving the behavior of nurses in prevention of infection: hand washing & effective communication. Methods. The research is a quantitative research with a quasi-experimental design using pre & post test design with a control group. The sample in the study was 17 supervisor and 70 nurse nurses. Interventions carried out are interactive supervision training for chief of the room & team leader/PJ Shift. Results. The result of the study found difference in behavior of nurses on hand washing & SBAR communication before & after training (p value=0,000) Further analysis shows a good influence between interactive supervision training on improving nurse performance in hand washing & SBAR communication compliance (p value=0,000). Conclusion. Expected to he carried out in a interactive supervision of all implementing nurses in an effect to improve safety of patients.
