Abstract

The objective of this Classroom Action Research was to improve students’vocabulary mastery by using video as a media in teaching and learning process.It covered four stages of activities, they were planning, implementing, observing,and reflecting of the action. The subject of this research was class VII C of SMPMuhammadiyah 1 Jember. In this research, the primary data were collectedfrom the vocabulary test while the observation check list as supporting data was taking during the teaching and learning process. Video as a media of teaching and learning vocabulary improved students vocabualry mastery in two cyclesfrom the percentage of students scored ≥ 70,was 69% in cycle 1 to 80% in cycle2, it also improved students’ active participation from 55% in cycle 1 to 77%at the end of the cycle 2. Based on the research result, it can be concluded thatthe video as a media of teaching English vocabulary was able to improve theseventh grade students’ vocabulary mastery and students’s active participation.

Abstract

The research was pre-experimental research and it was conducted by using one group pre-test post-test design. The subject was the fourth year students of English Language Education Program consisting of 33 students. The text used during the treatment was The Wonderful Wizard of Oz Novel by L. Frank Baum published by World Public Library. It consists of 214 pages but only some parts of the novel that was used during the treatment. The data collected using both of the test above, and the instrument used was a reading comprehension test about The Wonderful Wizard of Oz Novel. The test consists of 20 questions in multiple choices form. T-test was used in order to analyze the data. It was found that the result before and after the treatment were very much different. The t-test score is -6.875 and the t-table is 2.997 in the level of significant 5%. In the t-test the plus and minus signs are not considered so that the value of -6.857 2.997 (ttable). Therefore, the final conclusion can be stated as that there was a significant effect of contextual clues on students’ reading comprehension using The Wonderful Wizard of Oz Novel.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bermaksud untuk mempelajari tentang kemampuan speaking mahasiswa semester 5 yang pembelajarannya menggunakan eStudy Moodle. Aspek yang diteliti meliputi ranah sinkronus melalui LMS dan asinkronus melalui video conference Google Meet yang di-attach dalam eStudy. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kombinasi metode penelitian kuantitatif (speaking test) dan kualitatif (questionnaire). Setelah dilakukan analisa data, ditemukan bahwa kemampuan berbicara mahasiswa semester 5 Universitas Muhammadiyah Jember dapat dikategorikan baik (A-B) dan mayoritas mahasiswa menikmati belajar online menggunakan eStudy. Kemampuan berbicara yang memadai tersebut kemungkinan besar dicapai dengan adanya kenyamanan belajar Speaking menggunakan eStudy, dibuktikan dengan data yang menunjukkan bahwa meskipun 57.6 % mahasiswa menganggap bahwa belajar online selama pandemi tidak efektif tetapi lebih dari 70 % mahasiswa setuju pembelajaran daring yang menggunakan eStudy sangat tepat dan efisien diaplikasikan dalam kelas Argumentative Speaking dan 81 % merekomendasikan dosen untuk menggunakan eStudy dalam proses pembelajaran.

Abstract

Identifikasi permasalahan pada mitra dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat (PKM) ini antara lain (1) bagaimana meningkatkan motivasi guru untuk melaksanakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas?; (2) Bagaimana meningkatkan pengetahuan dan pemahaman guru dalam melaksanakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas?; (3) Bagaimana cara memberikan pengetahuan dan praktik penyusunan rancangan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas? Berdasarkan identifikasi permasalahan mitra tersebut, maka dari kesepakatan dan hasil diskusi pengusul dengan mitra, solusi yang ditawarkan kegiatan PKM yang diusulkan adalah (1) Peningkatan motivasi guru untuk melaksanakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas; (2) Pelatihan untuk  meningkatkan pengetahuan dan pemahaman guru dalam melaksanakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas; (3) Pelatihan untuk memberikan pengetahuan dan praktik penyusunan rancangan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas. Adapun rencana pelaksanaan kegiatan PKM ini terdiri dari empat tahapan, yaitu (1) sosialisasi program, (2) koordinasi pelaksanaan, (3) pelaksanaan, dan (4) evaluasi hasil kegiatan.  Luaran yang akan dihasilkan dari pelaksanaan PKM ini adalah (1) Meningkatnya kesadaran dan motivasi guru dalam melakukan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas; (2) Meningkatnya pengetahuan dan pemahaman guru dalam melakukan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas; dan (3) Rancangan rencana Penelitian Tindakan Kelas.

Abstract

Innovation has altogether changed the English learning as English Specific purposes in the scene by presenting intuitively and associated strategies.increasing vocabulary can make easily to understanding of English in daylily activities in the classroom always using English ,make atmosphere  situation interesting these method using pretest and post test Advanced approaches such as versatile apps, online learning stages, and virtual classrooms encourage more extensive get to and adaptability in learning. The results of data analysis show that there is a positive influence of blogs on the process of learning to read English. So it also has an impact on increasing the grades obtained by students. Apart from that, the development of students' daily grades has also shown a significant increase. Therefore, the results of this research have implications for the quality of reading teaching and learning in the classroom. Lecturers can use blogs as complementary media to make the learning process more enjoyable. Blogs can not only be used for reading courses, but can also be used for other courses that suit the learning design. To make the learning process more innovative, lecturers can design blogs with layouts that have course characteristics.
