Abstract

This research was conducted in Pembangunan street Subdistrict Medan Selayang, began from May to September 2016. This research used factorial randomized block design with two factors. The first factor was lady finger varieties were Red burgundy and Garibar. The second factor was application of organic fertilizer with four treatment (without organis fertilizer, compost 22,5g/10kg soil, vermicompost 30g/10kg soil, and chicken manure 75g/10kg soil). Garibar variety different on plant length, number of leaves, number of fruit, and fruit weight with Red burgundy. Chicken manure treatment can increase plant length, number of leaves, number of fruit, and fruit weight. Interaction between varieties and organic fertilizer  treatment can increase plant length.

Abstract

Green okra characteristics are having straight stems and difficult to fork. High fruit production can be obtained in the presence of massive ramification. To form ramification and and fruit production, okra requires pruning of shoots with time and proper fertilization to support the growth of these branches and fruits. This reaserch was conducted at Desa Ladang Bambu, Kecamatan Medan Tuntungan, Medan (35m asl) from April to July 2017. The method  used was factorial randomized block dsign with two treatment factors, i.e pruning of shoots (without pruning, age 15 and pruning of 30 days after planting) and NPK fertilization (2,5; 5,0; 7,5 and 10 gr per plant). The results of the study showed that the treatment purning time of shoots age of 15 days after planting significantly affect the parameter of branches quantity, number of productive branches, and weight of fruit per plant. While pruning of shoots age of 30 days after planting had significant effect on bar diameter and parameter of flowering age. NPK 7,5 gr fertilizer can significantly increase the number of productive branch and dose of 5,0 gr can improve the fruit circumference parameters. The interaction between the two treatments significantly affected the fruit circumference parameters.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pertumbuhan dan produksi beberapa varietas tanaman okra dengan pemberian kompos eceng gondok. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di lahan penelitian Fakultas Pertanian USU  (± 25 m dpl) pada bulan April-Agustus 2017 menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) faktorial dengan tiga ulangan. Faktor pertama dosis kompos eceng gondok (0, 100 g, 200 g, dan 300 g/polibag) serta faktor kedua varietas tanaman okra (Garibar, Red burgundy, dan Zahira IPB). Parameter yang diamati adalah tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, diameter batang, bobot kering tajuk, dan bobot kering akar, jumlah buah per tanaman, panjang buah, diameter buah, bobot buah segar per tanaman. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan kompos eceng gondok berpengaruh nyata terhadap bobot kering akar, jumlah buah dan bobot segar buah per tanaman. Perlakuan varietas berpengaruh nyata terhadap diameter batang, jumlah buah per tanaman, diameter buah, dan bobot segar buah per tanaman. Interaksi pemberian kompos eceng gondok dan beberapa varietas berpengaruh nyata  pada diameter batang.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain the silica fertilizer dosage and application time for growth and production sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L) Moench.). This research was conducted at Faculty of Agriculture Universitas Sumatera Utara began from March until August 2018, This research used factorial randomized block design with two factors. The first factor was silica fertilizer dosage with four levels are 0 , 0.5, 1, and 1.5 gram/plot and the second factor was application time with four application time are: 10, 20, 30, and 40 Day After Planting. Parameter observed were plant's length, stem diameter, weight of 1000 seeds, weight of seed per sample and weight of seed per plot. Silica fertilizer and application time can improve growth and production of  sorgum variety Super 2. The highest production percentage of sorgum reach 55.27%  compared with control, the production reach 4.30 tons/hectare.

Abstract

Increased soybean production both from quantity and quality continues to be pursued with extensification and intensification. During this time, fertilization is one of the cultivation techniques that is expected to contribute significantly in increasing soybean production. This study aims to determine the response of growth and production of soybean to Phosphorous (P) fertilizer and rhizobium inoculation. This research was conducted at Jl. Deli Serdang Sumatera Utara, from August-November 2017 with P fertilizer (SP-36) treatments (0, 50, 100, 150 kg/ha) and Rhizobium inoculation treatments (0, 5, 10 g/kg of seed). Variables observed were number of nodule root, number of filled pods, dry weight of seed per plant, dry weight of seed per plot and dry weight of 100 seeds. The results showed rhizobium inoculation significantly affected to the number of effective root nodules (nodules), filled pods, dry weight of seed per plant and dry weight of seed per plot with the best treatment was Rhizobium inoculation 5g/kg of seed) while the P fertilizer treatment and interaction between the two had no significant effect to all variables observed.
