Abstract

The South of Pulau Laut is an area in the which is included in the Coral Triangle and Aquatic Conservation Areas. The purpose of this study was to map changes in the extent of coral reefs based on the class of substrate categories and objects on exposure to coral reefs in the southern waters of Sea Island within 6 years from 2011- 2017 using SPOT 7 satellite imagery in 2017 and AVNIR ALOS-2 in 2011. Using the method of Lyzenga Dept Index for basic invariant detection of waters. Based on the results of substrate-based classification using both satellite images overlaye, there has been a decline for the coral category as much as -19.21 ha, seagrass and algae as much as -3.57 ha. On the Contrary, the category of open substrate has Increased by 22.77 ha. Object-based classification results using the Object Based Image Analysis (OBIA) method have a reduction in area for the hard coral category (HC) of -1.66 ha, hard sand mixed with sand (HC S) of -15.99 ha, dead coral overgrown with algae and sand (DCA S) of -0.39 ha, algae and seagrass (FS) covering an area of ​​-1.65 ha, sand-mixed coral fragments (RS) of 4:45 ha. On the other hand, there was an increase of in the area.

Abstract

The waters of Kunyit Island on the east is one of the coastal waters in Kotabaru Regency that has the potential for marine tourism. However, in development is still a lot of obstacles, including the suitability of land for marine tourism have not been identified. Utilization of coastal and marine resources in the waters of Kunyit Island on east may be the development of marine tourism such as diving. The purpose of this study was to determine the suitability of land suitability level of marine tourism in the waters of Kunyit Island on  east based on physical oceanographic parameters and BioEcology. The method used is the descriptive method with the help of analysis Travel Suitability Index (IKW) which generates the conformity travel. The results of this study indicate that the results of marine tourism suitability for diving in a class quite suitable (S2) with an area of 17.44 ha (78.72%) and is not suitable (N ) with an area of 4.71 ha (21.28%).

Abstract

Pemetaan kawasan upwelling secara 3 dimensi (3D) dapat membantu dalam melakukan interpertasi terhadap daerah penangkapan ikan secara optimal karena tampilannya menjadi lebih riil, komprehensif dan interaktif. Berdasarkan kenyataan bahwa nelayan mitra masih kurang memahami akan pentingnya kawasan ini, maka program ini dibuat untuk memfasilitasi transfer ilmu dan teknologi agar mitra dapat mampu secara mandiri memetakan daerah penangkapannya secara tepat. Metode yang akan digunakan untuk mendukung  realisasi  kegiatan  ini adalah berupa penyuluhan dan pelatihan untuk membuat peta 3D kawasan upwelling, dimana peta ini merupakan pengembangan dari peta 2 dimensi (2D) upwelling hasil kajian/penelitian tim pengabdi sebelumnya. Rencana dari hasil kegiatan ini berupa munculnya peta 3D upwelling sebagai hasil karya nelayan mitra yang diharapkan bisa lebih mudah diinterpretasikan dan diaplikasikan untuk aktifitas penangkapan ikan mereka. Berdasarkan hasil pelaksanaan kegiatan diperoleh bahwa pelatihan dalam memetakan kawasan upwelling Selat Makassar dalam model 3 dimensi ini memiliki relevansi dengan aktifitas nelayan Kecamatan Kintap serta signifikan dapat membantu aktifitas nelayan. Tingkat keberhasilan dari pelatihan ini adalah nelayan mampu membuat peta 3 dimensi kawasan upwelling Selat Makassar serta mampu melakukan interpretasi terhadap gambar peta yang telah dihasilkan. Luaran dari pelatihan berupa peta 3 dimensi upwelling Selat Makassar, publikasi pada jurnal ilmiah dan adanya modul pelatihan dapat membantu masyarakat nelayan dalam meningkatkan produktifitas penangkapan ikannya serta sebagai media pembelajaran bagi nelayan dalam melakukan pemetaan secara benar dan tepat.
