Abstract

Smart city is one of the concepts to create sustainability in urban areas. Banjarmasin recently tried to apply this concept to create a friendly information and technology city by providing some wi-fi corners in green open spaces for the citizens. Due to this condition, it is necessary to conduct the training for mapping wi-fi corner in Banjarmasin’s green open space. This community service aims to make a wi-fi corner map in Banjarmasin and analyze its quality which can support the smart city concept. The participants are the students of Urban and Regional Planning in University of Muhammadiyah Banjarmasin. The tools and materials used along the training are GPS, mobile phones and individual laptop for each participant. The outcomes of this activity are the students capable to map the wi-fi corner of Banjarmasin’s green open space based on the connectivity and accessibility of the facility. Banjarmasin needs to provide more wi-fi corner with free access.

Abstract

Wilayah peri urban merupakan wilayah yang memiliki karakteristik kekotaan dan kedesaan. Wilayah Peri urban memiliki karakteristik pertambahan penduduk dan kepadatan penduduk yang tinggi, sektor ekonominya yang didominasi non-pertanian, dan kesadaran penduduk sebagai penduduk kota pada daerah tersebut. Adanya interaksi yang terjadi dengan wilayah kota maupun desa dapat mempengaruhi perkembangan wilayah peri urban. Perkembangan tersebut dapat menimbulkan perkembangan dan pembangunan wilayah yang tidak terarah dan terkendali. Kota Banjarmasin merupakan perkotaan yang mengalami pertumbuhan terutama sektor perdagangan dan jasa dan Kawasan permukiman.  Merujuk dari Teori Singh (2011) yang membagi 3 klasifikasi peri urban, yaitu peri urban primer (ciri kekotaan lebih mendominasi), peri urban sekunder (ciri kekotaan dan kedesaan saling mempengaruhi) dan rural peri urban (ciri kedesaan lebih mempengaruhi). Lokasi penelitian ini adalah kelurahan yang berada di Kota Banjarmasin yang berbatasan langsung dengan kabupaten/kota lain disekitarnya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah perumusan karakteristik peri urban primer berdasarkan aspek fisik di Kota Banjarmasin. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisa deskriptif terhadap penelitian terdahulu dan metode expert judgement (pendapat para ahli). Variabel karakteristik fisik peri urban primer yang didapakan berupa karakteristik pemanfaatan lahan pertanian, kepadatan bangunan, persentase permukiman dan persentase jalan aspal. Karakteristik fisik yang didapat kemudian akan di lakukan verifikasi kepada narasumber ahli untuk menguji variable dan memilih karakteristik yang paling banyak dipilih oleh narasumber ahli yang bisa diterapkan di Kota Banjarmasin. Dari rangkaian analisis yang dilakukan, diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa terdapat 4 (empat) karakteristik fisik peri urban primer yang dapat diterapkan di Kota Banjarmasin, yaitu karakteristik pemanfaatan lahan pertanian, kepadatan bangunan, persentase permukiman dan persentase jalan aspal.

Abstract

Slum area has been a serious matter to any city in the world. Banjarmasin has been struggling to minimize the percentage of its slum area. Some of it are located in Pelambuan, Kuin Cerucuk and Teluk Dalam districts. This community service intended to give an understanding regarding recommendation concept to revitalize slum area in those districts through series of community assistance. The method used was a combination of community education and dialogue focused on building quality improvement. The target group were people of Pelambuan, Kuin Cerucuk and Teluk Dalam district. Results show that the community agreed to control the land intensity of the area based on building base coefficient of 60-80%, as well as maintaining open space below their house for river flow.

Abstract

The Kotabaru District Government has a plan to improve the slum area in the Barak area, Dirgahayu village, North Laut Island sub-district. This received pro and con reactions from the local community. This community service activity seeks to empower local communities in the Barak area about the importance of a healthy and livable residential environment. The methods used are observation, interviews and giving exposure to the Barak community to understand the current conditions of the Barak slum area and the responses of the people living in it. At the end of the activity, the percentage of people who rejected the plan to improve the quality of the Barak slum area dropped from 64% to 36%. Meanwhile, the percentage of people who agreed increased from 40% to 60% with the suggestion that improvement plans should pay attention to the social, cultural and economic aspects of the local community. In addition, the development plan for the relocation of the Barak slum area must pay attention to the balance between open space, built-up areas, and regional-scale public infrastructure.

Abstract

Since the end of 2019, the transmission of COVID-19 or Corona virus disease has been declared as a global pandemy in the world. Hygiene and sanitation became crucial as it needs to be a commont habit for everyone. Banjarmasin Selatan is one of a district in Banjarmasin where all the inhabitants are farmers, public laborer, and housewives. During observation, it can be seen that they still had lack of concern for Covid-10 prevention, especially for washing hands. Therefore, this community service was aimed to give a hygiene and sanitation campaign for COVID-19 prevention in Banjarmasin Selatan. The target was the local community of Tatah Belayung Banjarmasin Selatan. The method used was through online campaign via youtube channel video and offline campaign through a community event about the importance of hygiene and sanitation. The event also taught about how to make a simple hand sanitizer with natural ingredients and how to use it. The outcome of this community service were the local community can produce and make their own hand sanitation for COVID-19 prevention. They were ready to commit more to increase their awareness for hygiene and sanitation everyday.
