Abstract

Lupus is one of the autoimmune rheumatic diseases that require long-term treatment, can potentially be life-threatening, but is still unknown to the general public. However, there are various problems encountered by odapus (orang dengan lupus = people with lupus) and their companions during treatments. This program is established to create a support group for odapus, their companions, and associated medical professionals by organizing counseling and focus group discussion (FGD) during March until November 2018 in Wedomartani, as well as providing information regarding Lupus and its problems on www.jogjalupuscare.com and Lupus bulletin. Simultaneously, several studies were conducted to evaluate psychological factors of lupus survivors. Pre-test and post-test scores were used as evaluations of counseling and FGD, the results were analyzed using paired t-test or Wilcoxon test, whereas the research used Pearson or Spearman correlation test. The pre-test score increased from 86.81 to 100. There was a significant relationship between disease activity and depression scores, quality of life and insomnia scores, as well as anxiety and depression levels with the quality of life (p <0.05). There was no correlation between disease activity and anxiety scores. Education and counseling are some of the main pillars in lupus treatment, while psychological factors faced by odapus during treatments cannot be ignored.

Abstract

Background. Depression is highly prevalent in patients with heart failure reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). The pathophysiology between these two conditions is related to the inflammation process, therefore some inflammatory markers can be used to assess those conditions. In recent years, the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) has been developed as a simple and inexpensive indicator of inflammation. Unfortunately, we did not find any study that assessed the correlation between SII and depression in patients with HFrEF.Objective. To investigate the correlation between SII and depression in patients with HFrEF in Sardjito Hospital YogyakartaMethods. This was a cross-sectional study on patients with HFrEF in Sardjito Hospital between February 2023 and May 2023. The normality test was carried out using the Shapiro-Wilk test. Bivariate analysis was carried out using the Spearman correlation test. The result was considered statistically significant when p-value <0.05. Multivariate analysis was carried out using multiple linear regression test.Results. There were 47 HFrEF patients with depression. There was a significant relationship between SII and depression scores from the Spearman Correlation test results of SII with depression scores, with p=0.009. The result showed that the higher the SII, the higher the depression score. The correlation coefficient between the two variables was r=0.375, showing that the correlation was in the weak category.Conclusion. There is a positive correlation between the systemic immune-inflammation index and depression in patients with heart failure reduced ejection fraction.

Abstract

Background: There were many patients, including adolescent, with dyspepsia symptoms in our daily clinical practice have been interacting with internet search engine to find medical information which induced or worsened their dyspeptic symptoms. Aim of the study is to know  the pattern of   internet browsing habit and dyspepsia syndrome in adolescentMethod: Grade 12 level students of senior high schools in Yogyakarta, Indonesia were included in the study with stratified random sampling method. Students with confirmed organic dyspepsia diagnosis were excluded. We use two simple questions to reveal the students internet browsing habit, question no 1 :“Did you ever browse information about diseases in the internet?” (answer choice: a.never;b.once;c.more than once); question no 2.: “Did you ever browse information about your medical complaint in the internet?” (answer choice: a.never;b.once;c.more than once). We used validated Gastrointestinal Symptom score (GIS) to reveal the students dyspepsia symptoms. Data were analyzed with chi-square test and anova. Results: There were 665 (477 girls and 188 boys) senior high school students (age range : 16-20 years old) included in this study. Based on question no 1, the result  showed significantly different (p 0.001) between students with  and without the dyspepsia syndrome, and the question no 2 also showed similar result (p=0.002). The anova between GIS and question no 1 showed significantly different ( p0.001) and the similar result was also found between GIS and question no 2 (p0.001). Conclusion:The internet browsing habit may influence the development of dyspepsia syndrome in adolescent and further study is needed to find the cause and effect relationship.
