Abstract

The categorization of the verses of the Koran to the qath’iy and zhanniy, actually does not exist either in the Koran, the sunnah of the opinions of friends, tabi'in or the Imam of the great school of thought. Thus, this categorization is the creation of recent scholars who are seen as a product of ijtihad. Because the categorization is a product of ijtihad, in fact, the notion of qathiy and zhanniy should not be viewed dogmatically. Because as a product of ijtihad it continues to apply relativity, not absolute. Imam as-Syatibi has a different concept from the popular opinion about qath'iy and zhanniy, from his statement it seems that there is no qathiy in the texts of syara ’or even if it is very rare. According to him, keqathiyan was drawn and deduced from a number of texts both the Koran and the traditions that have the same meaning or mutual support so that the meanings contained in the various texts converge fully and cohesively on a particular idea or concept. Keywords: Qath'iy, Zhanniy.

Abstract

Bagas godang is an heirloom house or a house left by parents that are passed down to the youngest child. It is a traditional custom in Purba Baru Village, Lembah Sorik Marapi District. This research aims to find out or analyse how the practice of distributing inheritance to the youngest child (namenekna) as the heir who gets bagas godang in the traditional Mandailing Natal inheritance in Purba Baru Village, Lembah Sorik Marapi District is appropriate and achieves the portion of justice with the existing provisions in 'urf. This research was conducted using empirical research, also known as field research, using field data as the primary data source, such as the results of interviews and observations. Judging from the number of problems resolved with the help of Hatobangon, he is a traditional figure whose majority of decisions are accepted by the community, outside his realm of severe cases, namely murder, drugs and others. This is why the Hatobangon decision, according to some religious figures, is included in 'urf shahih if there is justice and benefit, whereas if there is no justice and there are those who are harmed then it will be 'urf fasid. This is a customary custom in which the heirs conduct deliberations first so that the heirs feel fair and are not disadvantaged. On the other hand, if problems occur in this tradition, certain situations can still be changed through further deliberation.

Abstract

This study examines the position of women in the Islamic social structure through the interpretation of the verses of the Qur'an related to the family, a rich and complex topic covering domestic roles to public participation. The main focus is the interpretation of Surah An-Nisa' verse 34 regarding men as “qawwam” (leaders or those responsible) for women. This study uses a qualitative method with a literature study approach, collecting data from books, journals, and other relevant documents. This study shows that scholars such as Al-Thabari, Al-Qurthubi, Ibn Kathir, Fakhruddin Al-Razi, and Al-Baghawi explain that “qawwam” refers to the responsibility of men to protect and provide for the family, not absolute superiority or the revocation of women's rights. Steps to deal with “nusyuz” (disobedience) of wives, such as advice, separation from bed, and light beatings, must be carried out gradually, without excessive violence, and as a last resort to maintain household harmony. Overall, the interpretation of the verses of the Qur'an shows that Islam places women in a noble position with balanced rights and responsibilities, covering the domestic and public spheres, which requires a comprehensive and contextual understanding so that Islamic values remain relevant and answer contemporary challenges. The novelty of this research lies in emphasizing the balance of the role of “qawwam” as a leadership responsibility rather than absolute superiority, as well as the dynamic public participation of women.

Abstract

This study aims to examine in depth the interpretation and practice of Qur'anic verses related to the concept of wasilah within the spiritual life of the Naqshbandi suluk community in West Pasaman Regency. Employing the Living Qur’an approach, this research seeks to explore how the sacred text of the Qur’an is not only read and understood theoretically but also actualized in tangible ritual and spiritual experiences within the Sufi order. The main focus of this study is the community’s interpretation of two Qur’anic verses Surah Al-Mā’idah [5]:35 and Surah Al-Isrā’ [17]:57 and how the meanings of these verses are internalized and applied across various aspects of spiritual life, including in the spiritual literature used by the followers. This research adopts a qualitative methodology with a phenomenological approach, allowing the researcher to understand the subjective religious experiences of the participants. The findings reveal that wasilah is understood as a means of drawing closer to Allah through the guidance of a murshid, the practice of dhikr, and a consistent and structured journey of self-purification through suluk practices.

Abstract

This study analyzes the representation of family conflict in the film Ipar Adalah Maut using a qualitative method with a Roland Barthes semiotic approach. The main objective is to uncover the layered meanings and ideologies built by the movie, then evaluate the narrative with family values in the Qur'an. Data were obtained through movie observation, review of Qur'anic commentaries (Ibn Kathir and al-Maraghi), and interviews with 10 respondents, consisting of unmarried and married groups, to enrich the analysis. The results of the semiotic analysis show that the movie, denotatively, presents an explicit story of infidelity that effectively evokes an emotional response. At the connotation level, the film builds a contrast between religious appearance and fragile morality, as well as connoting the in-law relationship as a hidden threat. Ultimately, the movie creates the myth that infidelity is an inevitable consequence of human weakness. However, when this myth is confronted with family values in the Qur'an, a more robust discourse emerges. The Qur'ān offers a strong foundation of marriage, namely sakinah, mawaddah and rahmah, built on moral commitment and responsibility. Respondents intuitively rejected this destructive myth and instead used the movie as a mirror to reflect on the importance of returning to Qur'anic values as practical guidance. Thus, the study concludes that while movies can serve as critical mirrors, the findings also confirm the relevance of Qur'anic values in building resilient families, challenging the myth of fragility often portrayed in popular media.
