Abstract

The prevalence of hypertension in Indonesia increased to 34.1% at the age of ≥18 years. Puskesmas Melintang ranked the first highest number of hypertension cases among other health centers in Pangkalpinang City with 3,694 cases in 2019. The study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of leaflet media in improving the knowledge of the rational use of antihypertensive drugs in the working area of Puskesmas Melintang. The method used was quantitative analytic experimental research with a one-group pretest-posttest design. Data collection in the study was using a non-random sampling method with an accidental sampling technique. The number of samples in this study was 67 respondents. The measuring instrument used in the study was a questionnaire given to the community who became the sample in two pre-test and post-test measurements using leaflet media analyzed by univariate and bivariate analysis tests. The results showed that there was a significant difference in the value of knowledge changes before and after giving leaflet media on the use of antihypertensive drugs with a p-value of 0.000 <0.05. Puskesmas officers provide continuous and scheduled counseling or socialization activities on the rational use of antihypertensive drugs to the community using leaflet media or other information media.

The method used was analytic observational with a cross-sectional approach. Sampling used an accidental sampling technique. The research sample consisted of 96 respondents. The measuring instrument used is a questionnaire analyzed by univariate and bivariate using the chi-square test. The results showed that the factors of long-suffering from hypertension (p= 0.000), level of knowledge (p= 0.000), affordability of access to health services (p= 0.001), family support (p= 0.001), the role of health workers (p= 0.013), and motivation for treatment (p=0.000) was related to medication adherence in patients with hypertension. Factors of gender (p=0.540), education level (p=0.650), employment status (p=0.966), and health insurance participation (p=0.295) were not related to medication adherence in patients with hypertension. Abstract

Diseases caused by bacteria are treated with antibiotics. Antibiotics can be a threat globally, especially related to high resistance rates. Research has found that 40-62% of antibiotics are abused for diseases that do not require antibiotics for treatment. The results of research conducted by WHO from 12 countries, one of which is Indonesia, as many as 53-62% stops using antibiotics if they feel they have recovered. This study aims to develop and validate a questionnaire used to measure knowledge of antibiotic use in the people of Pangkalpinang City, Archipelago Region. The study was conducted in Pangkalpinang City from May to June 2022. This study involved 10 pharmacists as a panel of experts and 30 residents of Pangkalpinang City. The sampling technique was cluster sampling and tested the validity and reliability of the questionnaire. The results of the content validity test obtained the value of the content validity index (I-CVI) of each statement item. The content validity test was carried out in two rounds and the I-CVI value was 0.94 so that it could be concluded that the questionnaire was valid with 42 statement items. After that, it was continued with validity and reliability tests involving 30 people in Pangkalpinang City. The results of this validity test obtained 39 valid statements, and for the reliability test, the KR 20 value was 0.8. Abstract

Antibiotics are medications that physicians often prescribe to treat and prevent bacterial infections. Antibiotic resistance may be predisposed by improper antibiotic usage practices. The public’s ignorance about the proper use of antibiotics is the cause of this. The quality of a patient’s health will improve if antibiotics are used judiciously and in accordance with prescribed guidelines. If antibiotics are not used as directed, their efficacy will be diminished and the expense of recovery therapy will rise. To guarantee treatment efficiency and avoid resistance, it is essential to understand and be aware of the patients receiving antibiotics. This research sought to determine the efficacy of leaflet media in Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, in promoting antibiotic use knowledge. A validity-tested questionnaire from previous research served as the study’s instrument. Quasi-experimental in nature, this kind of study uses a pretest-posttest design involving only one group. It also has a quantitative analytical focus. An unintentional sampling strategy combined with a non-random sampling method was employed in the study to acquire data. 166 people served as the study’s subjects. A questionnaire was used as the measuring tool in the study. It was sent to the participants’ community in two assessments, one month apart, and included leaflet media as an intervention. Analytical tests, both univariate and bivariate, were used to examine the data. The results show that there is a substantial difference in knowledge between the pretest and posttest, and that leaflet media is successful in increasing people’s awareness of antibiotics in Bangka Regency. The P-value is 0.001< 0.05.

Abstract

Antibiotics are drugs used to prevent and treat infections caused by bacteria, but there is still a lot of inappropriate use of antibiotics. Inaccurate use of antibiotics increases the risk of antibiotic resistance, namely, bacteria becoming resistant to antibiotics. One effort to increase knowledge related to antibiotics is to use video media. Providing digital health information and education with video media is more effective and innovative than other methods. The technique used in this research is quantitative analytic with a one-group pretest-posttest design. Retrieval of data in research using an accidental sampling technique. The number of samples in the study was 394 respondents. The measuring instrument used in the study was a questionnaire given to the people sampled using video media in two pretest and posttest measurements. The study results showed significant differences in changes in knowledge before and after giving knowledge related to antibiotics using video media with a p-value = (0.001 < 0.05). Video media effectively increases the understanding of the people of the West Mendo District about antibiotics.
