Abstract

According to R William Liddle, the 1955 election was marked by a pattern-based tribal party support (primordial identities).This theory has raised the question whether the pattern will persist in the next election.Especially in the Kota PematangSiantar (where the research was conducted).This study has tried to answer these questions. The focus on the relationship between tribal loyalties to political parties (PPP, PDI, Golkar) concerning the election in the KotamadyaPematangSiantar 1992. The findings of this study indicate thevariables of tribal loyalty does not clearly describe a causal relationship with the behavior of voters. This means that there are patterns of party choice based on ethnicity. But the relationship is not as strong as in 1955.In the 1992 election not all political parties based on tribal support, except PPP and PDI. Mostly supporters of PDI is the tribe Batak Tapanuli Utara and PPP is supported by the tribe Batak Tapanuli Selatan. In terms of religion, PPP supporters almost entirely Muslim. Meanwhile, supporters of PDI predominantly Christian. However, in contrast with the two parties, the Golkar Party supported by the community with a wide-variety of tribes (Batak Tapanuli Utara, Batak Tapanuli Selatan, Jawa, Simalungun, Karo, etcetera). The party also supported by voters who have a different religion (includingMuslim and Christian voters). This study was conducted with the political behavioral approach.The research method using descriptive methods. Collecting data with field research techniques. Analysis using descriptive analysis. Abstract

It is the study of news regional head candidates in local elections in Kota Medan. Precisely in April 2010 local elections and published by Harian Waspada. The contents of the news pub-lished are that has associated with one of the candidates. This study was conducted with the ap-proach of political communication. Collecting data are using literature and documents. The da-ta analysis with descriptive analysis method. The study found there are variations in the quanti-ty of news regional head candidates. This means that no candidate dominates the news content. This can be seen from the difference in the news every week especially regarding regional head candidates. However there is a regional head candidates very rarely reported. It seems related to the amount of advertising campaigns published in this daily. But the fact it is not related at all to the advertising campaign, although it is almost impossible eliminate their relationship.Keywords: Regional election, candidate, mass media.

Abstract

This is a study about national identity. National identity is sense of belonging to the state. The focus is to describe iInternalization patterns the national identity of non government religious organization in Medan City. The finding of this study is there are non-standard pattern the internalization national identities of non government religious organization in Medan City. There is only routine activities such as socialization conducted by government agencies such as kesbanglinmaspol. Other institutions such as the Forum for Religious Harmony (FKUB) activity is focused on the establishment of houses of worship socialization. This study is using political identity approach. Data collection is using field study techniques and literature (method inter-views, library research (library research) and study documents. Abstract

This is a study about the political of regional head to strengthen the power. This study is using political system approach. Data collection is using field study techniques and literature (method interviews, library research (library research) and study documents. Analysis is using qualita-tive technique, especially descriptive analysis method. The finding of this study is the head of the region have a tendency to magnify its power. There is no execption to the regional head which is the individual candidates. This is because in politics, great powers it needed to run and maintain power. In the case in Kabupaten Batubara, efforts to to strengthen the power can be seen from the success of OK Arya Zulkarnain gaining a strategic position in a political parties. OK Arya Zulkarnain joined the Golkar Party and also became Chairman of DPD Kabupaten Batubara of the Golkar Party period (2010-2015). So the influence of OK Arya Zulkarnain in parliament becomes larger. Especially in influencing policy at the local legislature (DPRD Kabupaten Batubara).Keywords: Power, political of regional head, political parties.

Abstract

Purba Sinomba vilage is home to some batak people in Kecamatan Padang Bolak Kabupaten Padang Lawas Utara Sumatera Utara Province. In the past, this village has its own system of government. After a long period, the government system of the Purba Sinomba Village now fol-low the government regulation No 72/2005. This study discusses the government system of Pur-ba Sinomba village. This study aimed to clarify whether the government system of Purba Si-nomba village today, still nuanced government system that has been used previously within this area both in structure and practice. The study found that in the current system the old character has been replaced. First, the term king replaced the head of the village (kepala desa). Second, there is an election to choose a leader. Third, land is owned by residents. This phenomenon in-dicates that there is a gap between the cultural values of past and present. Its also can be inter-preted that customs and politics are two things that separated.Keywords: Village autonomy, village government, cultural values.

Abstract

that time this party is the winner party. Nevertheless situation has changed after political reform in 1998. Since this era, Golkar Party must full tactical for win the competition. This Study is discussing change of Golkar Party vote at general election 2009. Precisely, present which piece of vote the Golkar Party which obtained at general election 2004 that change at 2009. This study is using observation way, interview and book study and document for collect-ing data. Data Analysis is using comparison method (the vote) combine with political behavior approach. The finding is the reduction of Golkar Party vote in Labuhanbatu influenced by his popular figure (got voter) that has decreased. It is affect to all of constituency at this place. Though this party is winner at Dapil Labuhanbatu 1 dan 5, but the degradation of Golkar Party vote is inescapable. This condition indicates the electors that select Golkar Party (2004) and then not (2009) in general election, is categorized as voter candidate orientation.Keywords: General election, political party, political participation.

Abstract

The General Elections in 2009 in Indonesia showed a new phenomenon that is the end of the dominance of the old parties of the nationalist-based (Golkar and PDIP). The dominance of the old parties has been replaced by a new nationalist party (Partai Demokrat). This study aimed to look at the factors causing the increase in Partai Demokrat votes. This study found there were five factors causing the increase Partai Demokrat vote. The first factor is the persona of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. The second factor is the establishment candidate strategy. The third fac-tor is the success of managing internal conflicts. The fourth factor is the persona of the candi-date. The fifth factor is the performance of the Partai Demokrat. In generally, it’s true persona factor Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has become a powerful magnet in attracting sympathy con-stituen to vote Partai Demokrat, but in that case in Sumatera Utara, local persona factors also become important element of voice improvement Partai Demokrat.Keywords: Political image, Political behavior, Local elite, Political marketing.

Abstract

How can explain the phenomena of Indian democracy? This study intends to answer this ques-tion. To have the use of Robert A. Dahl views and all at once criticize his views, this study also tries to explain about the secret of Indian democracy succeeded. The point is India is the po-verty country and there are no one of poverty country in the world have democracy for long time. Obvious have found that democracy in India has a lot of problem. And there are indica-tions about premise of problem Indian democracy as impact of economic variable. Mainly be-cause Indian democracies prevalent exist adjoin with human right violation, poverty, and “jati” (the system of caste). Apiece as the abnormal fact because there are exactly “reinforce” de-mocracy in India. Hence, in this study the term of “permissive democracy” used to describe the uniqueness of Indian democracy condition. As implication of the theories, this study argue that clarification about the phenomena of democracy at poverty state need special concept as a dif-fering with developed countries because however there are difficulty to meaningful about de-mocracy without economic welfares. Absolutely, democracy cannot sufficient and cannot sur-vive without economic welfares.Keywords: democracy, permissive democracy, economic walfares.
