Abstract

Musik banyak diangkat menjadi tema dalam karya-karya yang ditulis Jelinek. Dalam novel Die Klavierspielerin  yang terbit tahun 1983, Jelinek mengangkat tema musik. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan fungsi musik dan keterkaitannya dengan seksualitas tokoh utama. Kajian ini dilandasi oleh teori fungsi musik yang dikemukakan Alan P. Merriam, teori seksualitas yang dikemukakan oleh Padgug, serta teori seksualitas yang berkaitan dengan relasi kuasa yang dikemukakan oleh M. Foucault. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa di dalam novel tersebut terdapat fungsi musik sebagai representasi simbolis yang dijadikan sarana antar tokoh untuk saling menekan antara ibu terhadap Erika sebagai anak, Erika sebagai guru terhadap Klemmer sebagai murid. Musik juga memunculkan relasi kuasa yang mempengaruhi seksualitas Erika.Abstract: Music was mostly taken as a theme in many works written by Jelinek.  In the Die Klavierspielerin novel  published in 1983, Jelinek took theme of music. The study is aimed at revealing music function  and its links with the main character’s sexuality. This study is based on music function theory introduced by Alan P. Merriam, sexuality theory introduced by Padgug, and sexuality theory concerning power relation introduced by M. Foucault. The  results of analysis indicate that in the novel there are musical functions as symbolic representation used as a reference between characters to repress each other, such as,  mother to Erika as a child, Erika as a teacher to Klemmer as a student.

Abstract

Meningkatnya jumlah orang Turki yang datang ke Jerman menyebabkan terbentuknya kelompok sosial baru di Jerman. Kehadiran orang-orang Turki dan kelompok sosial tersebut, menambah dampak tersendiri bagi kehidupan sosial orang Jerman. Salah satu gerakan perlawanan kelompok-kelompok tertentu yang tidak suka akan kehadiran orang Turki di Jerman dilakukan oleh kelompok Skinhead yang merupakan subkultur dari Neo-Nazi (kelompok radikalisme sayap kanan). Penolakan kelompok Skinhead terhadap orang Turki tersebut, membuat orang-orang Turki merasa asing di Jerman. Keterasingan yang dirasakan orang Turki menjadi latar belakang Isolde Heyne dalam menulis roman remaja berjudul Yildiz Heiβt Stern (1994). Bentuk-bentuk keterasingan dalam narasi novel merupakan bentuk rasisme. Orang-orang Turki juga mengalami perasaan terasing dan aneh di Jerman. Dalam penelitian ini, penulis menggunakan konsep othering atau meliyankan orang lain yang dianggap tidak sama yang dikemukakan oleh Gayatri Spivak (2008).

Abstract

Life in another country with a different culture can lead to anxious lives, as the Turkish main characters experience in Isolde Heyne's youth novel “Yildiz heißt Stern”. That is what this study is about, and it aims to portray the personal development of the two main characters. For this reason, theories related to identity theory, cultural studies and narratology have been applied. The results of the analysis confirm that the main characters can adapt well within a known radius. Only after the main characters have overcome difficulties in life due to their identity and accepted them do they learn to deal with German culture. At the same time, they can also be influenced personally and culturally by it.

Abstract

Three of Barbara Schöneberger's songs from the album Jetzt singt sie auch noch...! criticize women in society. This study aims to elucidate German perceptions about women. In this study, a descriptive qualitative technique was used as the research methodology. The research's data consists of phrases and words taken from the lyrics of three songs by BarbaraSchöneberger from the album Jetzt singt sie auch noch…! Document analysis techniques, note-taking, and listening wereused to collect data. We then employed careful observation and listening to analyze the data. This study used the LiterarySociology approach, which draws on Alan Swingewood's concept of Literary Sociology. The results of the study show that: (1) From Barbara Schöneberger's album Jetzt singt sie noch...!, the first three tracks Three categories can be used to categorize the stereotypes about women: (a) those that focus on how they appear physically; (b) those that highlight how they are perceived as capable; and (c) those that depict women as nothing more than objects for other women's bodies. (2)Examined social issues include the following: Social criticism can be divided into three categories: (a) criticism of morality in society, which breeds stereotypes and discrimination against women; (b) criticism of economics, which focuses on unethical economic growth that fuels social unrest; and (c) criticism of gender, which addresses women's roles as objects of all women and gender norms that restrict women to household duties.
