Abstract

Introduction: Pre-diabetes is a condition where blood glucose levels are above normal, but do not meet the standard to be diagnosed as diabetes. This literature review aims to determine the effectiveness of lifestyle interventions in preventing the risk of developing type 2 diabetes in pre-diabetic patients. Methods: Search articles using five databases, namely Pubmed, Proquest, ScienceDirect, Cochrane Library and Google Scholar identified 21,380 articles. Results: Five studies that met the criteria showed that lifestyle interventions were effective in preventing the risk of developing type 2 diabetes in pre-diabetic patients. Four studies reported no participant developing type 2 DM and only one study reported progression of pre-diabetes to type 2 DM, but overall it was greater in the control group than in the treatment (22.8% vs 15.0%). At the age of 18-64 years, lifestyle interventions can reduce the risk of diabetes in two years by 30%, in the following years 40% and 10%, respectively. While at the age of 65-84 years from 40% to 50% in the first two years and from 10% to 20% in the following years. Conclusion: Based on the results of a review of five articles, it was concluded that lifestyle interventions can effectively prevent the risk of developing type 2 diabetes in pre-diabetic patients

Abstract

Cervical cancer is a disorder that often occurs in women. This disease is dangerous because it can affect the cells in the cervix if not treated immediately. Currently, cervical cancer ranks second among cancers that attack women in the world. According to WHO, 490,000 women in the world every year are diagnosed with cervical cancer and 80% are in developing countries, including Indonesia. In Indonesia, it is estimated that every day 40-45 new cases appear, 20-25 people die, meaning that every 1 hour it is estimated that 1 woman dies due to cervical cancer. This means that Indonesia will lose 600-750 women who are still productive every month. Health promotion and early detection are priorities to prevent and treat disease. The aim of the activity is to prevent cervical cancer through increasing WUS knowledge regarding the Acetic Acid Visual Inspection Test using counseling methods as well as pre-tests before and post-tests after counseling. This can be done to prevent the increase in cervical cancer, namely by providing increased knowledge to women of childbearing age through education about VIA tests. The results show that counseling is significant in increasing WUS' knowledge about the IVA test.

Abstract

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) or Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is a health problem that is quite complex and continues to increase in Indonesia. The number of HIV infections in Indonesia from 2005 to 2017 has reached 280,623. The highest percentage of AIDS cases is in the 20 – 29 year age group. Adolescents aged 15-24 years are a group that is vulnerable to HIV infection. The aim of PkM is that it is hoped that universities can participate in developing youth knowledge about HIV/AIDS at Bawakaraeng High School. Community service activities were carried out at Bawakareang High School on Thursday, April 20 2022 with 44 students participating using the counseling method. The results of the service had a positive impact on the participants in the pretest, there were 14 students (31.8%) who had good knowledge, and 26 (59.1%) who had sufficient knowledge, while 4 students (9.1%) had poor knowledge. This was followed by a 45 minute presentation of HIV/AIDS material and a 15 minute question and answer session. After that, the activity ended by working on posttest questions with the results showing that there was an increase in teenagers' knowledge, namely 36 students (82%) had good knowledge and 8 students (18%) had sufficient knowledge, while 0% had less knowledge. Further collaboration can be carried out by giving counseling to teenagers. which is on the same topic.

Abstract

Disasters are events either natural or non-natural that cannot be predicted in advance. The impact of natural disasters can be in the form of comprehensive environmental damage that can cause mass human deaths. Fires can occur anywhere and at any time, fire management needs to be understood so that when a fire occurs there are no casualties. Thus, preparedness is needed to face disasters. Indonesia is one of the disaster-prone countries. The age groups that are vulnerable to this problem are babies and toddlers. Disaster management specifically for this age group includes the Infant and Child Feeding (IYCF) program. The aim of this service is to meet the nutritional needs of the infant and toddler age group in the Maccini Sawah Community Health Center Working Area, so that it can prevent nutritional problems due to disasters and can handle nutritional problems. The method used in service activities is demonstrating IYCF to the community and also providing IYCF counseling at disaster sites. The results achieved were that IYCF education ran smoothly so that feeding services for the infant and toddler groups were carried out well in phase one of the emergency. IYCF is mandatory in disaster situations to prevent and treat acute nutritional problems during disasters

Abstract

Acute Respiratory Tract Infection is an upper or lower respiratory tract disease that is usually contagious and can cause a wide spectrum of disease ranging from mild to severe and fatal infections, depending on the pathogen causing environmental factors and host factors. Transmission of acute respiratory infections is very dangerous, especially for babies and toddlers. It is necessary to reduce the incidence of transmission of acute respiratory infections as a form of prevention. Proper early recognition to detect symptoms of acute respiratory infections can be a way to prevent delays in treating the disease and prevent possible transmission. The method used is to provide counseling and training related to early detection of acute respiratory tract infections. After providing counseling to better understand the disease, one of the early detection methods chosen after recognizing the symptoms experienced is by counting the respiratory frequency. The results of implementing this community service include increasing knowledge to recognize and detect acute respiratory infections so that they can be treated immediately and appropriately.
