Abstract

The accessibility of the hospital building design in Indonesia has not been accommodated optimally. The guidelines regarding the universal design standards arranged by the government have not been implemented as a full assemble, considering hospitals are places where the patients may experience various physical conditions. Patients might need assistive aids such as canes, crutches, walkers, wheelchairs, and gurney to support their mobility, along with the helper. The existing elements of hospital buildings are supposed to be part of the accessibility standards thus the patients and their helpers could access facilities and circulations conveniently. The universal designs are vitals, especially at the Outpatient Installation. It requires comprehensive accessibility due to the various backgrounds of the outpatients. The objective is to investigate the accessibility level of patients according to the existing implementation of the universal design guidelines in the hospitals. The case study is conducted at the Instalasi Rawat Jalan zone of RSUD dr. Iskak. This research is performed by using the quantitative descriptive method while the questionnaires are analyzed by using the statistic descriptive analysis approach. The result suggested that the hospital has not implemented the universal design guidelines as a whole while most parameters are part of the accessibility standards.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract : The availability of accessible circulation spaces in building design and furniture layout in some hospital facilities in Indonesia is still lacking and has not reached an optimal standard. The limited public awareness of accessible design in buildings and furniture layout also leads to challenges for hospital users in carrying out their activities. This indirectly forces users to adapt on their own to access the hospital facilities. Patients who experience reduced bodily function or physical mobility limitations face difficulties in moving around. Since these patients struggle with walking, they need to use walkers (Alat Bantu Jalan). At RSUD Gambiran, many walkers patients are accompanied by thei when navigating hospital circulation areas, with the highest number found in the polyclinic zones. The research problem is highlighted by the fact that some patients with walkers (ambulant, wheelchair, or stretcher users) who visit still experience difficulties. Not all elements of accessibility in the polyclinic building are easy for walkers users to navigate. Therefore, this research focuses on assessing the level of accessibility within the polyclinic zone of the hospital's building according to patients with walkers and their escort. The study also explores the extent to which universal design principles have been implemented in the hospital building and whether this implementation has truly impacted the accessibility levels for walkers patients. The aim of this research is to evaluate the accessibility level of the polyclinic by analyzing it through the principles of universal design and accessibility standards in the RSUD Gambiran polyclinic zone based on feedback from ABJ patients and their companions. The research uses a descriptive qualitative method with a case study of the RSUD Gambiran polyclinic zone, involving observations and analysis of accessibility issues based on the experiences of ABJ patients and/or patient companions. The observation instrument uses a table with indicators based on the seven principles of universal design. Questionnaires are also distributed to research samples, with accessibility indicators for the building as the questionnaire instrument. The sample consists of ABJ patients (ambulant, wheelchair, and stretcher users) and their companions. The questionnaire results are analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis with SPSS version 26, following the scale instrument categories by Azwar (2012). The analysis will reveal differences in parameter levels, which are then compared in a comparative table. The findings show that the accessibility analysis of the RSUD Gambiran polyclinic zone highlights several accessibility issues that hinder treatment activities for ABJ patients in the hospital. Abstract

The home industry, particularly the furniture sector, is experiencing rapid growth in Indonesia, in line with increasing consumer interest in unique and personalized customization products. However, this industry continues to face significant challenges, including a lack of collaboration with interior designers and technical limitations in meeting consumer requirements. This study aims to analyze the production planning process at Sabar Furniture, a furniture industry specializing in custom furniture, particularly for products produced without the involvement of interior designers, to identify the challenges and strategies employed to address them. This research employs qualitative methods and case studies to explore production planning challenges at Sabar Furniture. The results show that production planning at Sabar Furniture is conducted in a structured manner and is capable of implementing adaptive, order-based (made-to-order) production planning. However, in terms of function and aesthetics, the product will be more optimal if the production process involves collaboration between artisans and interior designers. This study offers insights into the importance of collaboration between artisans and designers in the household furniture industry, aiming to enhance product quality, achieve customer satisfaction, and address the rapid development challenges in the furniture sector.
