Abstract

Abstract: Osteoarthritis, Knee, Fisiotaping, Functional Activity. The aims of thestudy was to finded the effect of fisiotaping to increased functional activity inpatients with osteoarthritis of the knee. a research design that is used is Onegroup pre and post design with control. The research subjects 20 people whosuffer from osteoarthritis of the knee who met the study criteria given fisiotapingduring 6 weeks of treatment. The research location is Clinic of YPAC Surakarta,Central Java. Measuring Tool used WOMAC Scale. the functional activity(WOMAC) normality test of data, data are normally distributed then tested withpaired sample t test. The results of the functional significance of the activitybefore and after the treatment has a value of p = 0.000 (p <0.05), which meansthere fisiotaping effect of increased functional activity.

Abstract

Abstract : Elderly, SAS, Trunks, PNF. Elderly will be experienced by everyone who was blessed with longevity. Change is an advanced stage of development of life with a decrease in the body's ability to adapt to environmental stress. Decreased ability can be inhibited with the exercises. There are three stretches used is SAS, ballistic and PNF. This study is an experimental research design with two group pre test - post test design. The study was conducted at the Hospice Dharma Bhakti Surakarta in June-July 2007. The gauge trunk flexibility is Sit and Reach Test. 18 subjects showed flexibility can improve significantly after being treated SAS or PNF exercises,

Abstract

Background : Scoliosis is a group of conditions consisting of changes in the shape and position of the spine on the lateral side that may be accompanied by rotation caused by various etiologies. Core stability exercise is a form of exercise that can be used to reduce the degree of scoliosis curve Objective : This study aims to determine the effect of core stability exercise on junior high school student (JHS). Methods : This study used a one group pre and post test with control design involving 32 students of SMP 2 Wonosari Klaten who were divided into 2 groups, using the blind randomized control trial method.  into 2 groups, namely a treatment group and a control group with a treatment group of 16 subjects  as intervention group given treatment of core stability exercise and a control group of 16 subjects  as control group without any treatment. The intervention was carried out for 5 weeks with a frequency of 3 times a week. Measuring the degree of the scoliosis curve using a scoliometer. The pre-test trunk rotation angle (ATR) value for the treatment group was found to be an average of 5.06º and a post-test ATR value of 4.75º. Meanwhile, in the control group, there was no change in the ATR value during the pre-test or post-test, which was 5.43º. Result : Statistical test of differences in pre-post test of treatment groups using the Wilcoxon test obtained a value of p = 0.025 (p < 0.05). Conculsion : From this study it was concluded that There is an effect of core stability exercise on reducing the scoliosis curve in junior high school student.

Abstract

Background: Osteoarthritis is one of the most common degenerative diseases, not only in Indonesia but also throughout most of the world. This disease causes pain in sufferers. Kinesio taping has therapeutic effects for muscle function correction by increasing weak muscle strength and improving blood and lymphatic circulation. Quadriceps strengthening exercises are one form of strengthening exercise recommended to increase the strength of the quadriceps and lower extreme muscles. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of kinesio taping and quadriceps strengthening exercises on reducing osteoarthritis pain based on the literature. Methods: This study was a literature review using PICOT analysis. Five databases were used, namely PubMed, Sage Journal, BMC, Science Direct, PEDro, and snowballing technique. After all articles were collected and checked for duplication and screening, 11 articles were accepted and analyzed from 223 articles. Results: In this literature study, the researchers searched for and selected articles from 223 titles to 11 titles that met the inclusion criteria. Nine of the eleven journals had an effect on knee OA pain.  Conclusion: Research on the effect of Kinesio Taping and quadriceps strengthening exercises on knee osteoarthritis pain was conducted using a literature study method, and eleven articles that passed the screening test showed that Kinesio Taping and quadriceps strengthening exercises have an effect on knee osteoarthritis pain.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension in the elderly isolated systolic hypertension (ISH), where increased systolic pressure increases the likelihood of stroke and myocardial infarction even if diastolic pressure is within normal limits. The purpose of this study was to determine the difference in the effect of progressive muscle relaxation and elderly exercise on blood pressure reduction in elderly hypertensive patients. Methods: This study used a two-group pre-test and post-test design involving 20 subjects randomly divided into two groups. Group I was given progressive muscle relaxation treatment, and group II was given elderly exercise treatment. The frequency of exercise was twice a week for two weeks. The measuring instrument used in this study was a sphygmomanometer.  Results: Hypothesis I test using a paired sample t-test obtained a p-value of 0.001, while hypothesis II test using a paired sample t-test obtained a p-value of <0.001. Hypothesis III test using an independent sample t-test obtained a p-value of 0.042 (p<0.005). Conclusion: Progressive muscle relaxation combined with exercise for the elderly has an effect on lowering blood pressure in elderly people with hypertension. Both interventions can be used to lower blood pressure in the elderly.
