Abstract

Motivation/Background. Stunting represents a prevalent health issue, particularly in lower to middle-income countries, including Indonesia. Occurring predominantly among infants, stunting is influenced by various factors such as genetics and nutritional status, primarily derived from direct dietary intake like breastfeeding. Additionally, socioeconomic factors, including household income, economic status, and food security, also contribute to stunting in young children. The adverse effects of stunting manifest in compromised growth and intellectual development, potentially impeding productivity, elevating the incidence of low birth weight, and increasing the risk of degenerative diseases. These consequences may subsequently heighten the risk of future poverty. This study aims to explore the relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of stunting in infants. Method: The research adopts a (narrative/systematic) review methodology, guided by the PRISMA 2020 framework. Data was gathered through searches on Google Scholar and PubMed, focusing on publications from 2019 to 2023. The search keywords included "Relationship between Exclusive Breastfeeding and Stunting," "Exclusive Breastfeeding," and "Stunting." Out of 100 results from Google Scholar and 756 from PubMed, five studies were selected for inclusion in this review. Results: The review indicates that the incidence of stunting is significantly associated with the lack of exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months of life. Conclusions: There is a significant correlation between exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of stunting in infants, underlining the importance of promoting and supporting exclusive breastfeeding to mitigate the risk of stunting and its long-term consequences

Abstract

Background: Nutritional status is the end result of harmony between the intake of nutrients received by the body and the needs of nutrients needed. This balance determines a person's nutritional status, which can be divided into three categories: less, normal, or excessive. The adolescent phase is a crucial period in which nutritional needs increase significantly along with rapid physical growth and developmental processes. The transition from childhood to adolescence becomes a period in which the body requires more nutrients to support these changes. In addition to physical growth, factors such as lifestyle changes and the diet of adolescents also affect their intake and nutritional needs. An unbalanced diet or lack of attention to the nutrients needed can result in insufficient or excess nutritional status. This paper aims to determine the relationship between diet and nutritional status balance in adolescents. Method: This systematic review uses the PRISMA-P protocol (Preferred Reporting item for Systemic Review and Meta-Analysis Protocol). The study was collected through searches on Google Scholar and PubMed data sources ranging from 2018-2023. Keyword search using PICO-S (Population Intervention Technique Compare Results-Study). Results: Results from journals on Google Scholar and PubMed obtained 10 journals related to the title of literature review. Conclusions: From various studies in adolescents, it can be seen that there is a relationship between a healthy diet and a balance of nutritional status.

Abstract

Aspirin is a group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) that are widely used by the public to treat rheumatic diseases. Apart from its anti-inflammatory role, aspirin is also an anti-thrombotic agent used in coronary heart disease (CHD) to prevent platelet aggregation. Aspirin is also a potent anipyretic. To determine the gastric mucosal histopathology of mice after being induced by apirin. The scope of the research is Medical Pathology, Anatomy and Pharmacology. The research was conducted at the Pharmacology Laboratory of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Andalas University and for reading the results at the Anatomical Pathology Laboratory, Faculty of Medicine, Baiturrahmah University. This research was conducted in March 2020 - January 2021. This research is a laboratory experimental. The samples used in this study were mice (Mus Musculus) aged 4-6 weeks with a body weight ranging from 18-20 grams. A sample of 18 mice was divided into 2 treatment groups, namely, positive and negative control samples. Aspirin was administered orally using a sonde for 3 consecutive weeks in positive control samples, and negative control samples were not treated. On the 27th day the termination was performed, the stomach was taken and histopathological preparations were made. The results of this study of 9 samples found 22.2% (2 samples) experienced desquamation, 44.4% (4 samples) experienced erosion, 33.3% (3 samples) experienced ulceration. Desquamation characteristics can be seen from the peeling of the uppermost layer of the gastric mucosa. And erosion can be seen from the loss of some areas of the gastric mucosa. Then for ulceration where the entire thickness of the mucosa is lost. There was a change in the picture in the gastric mucosa histopathology of mice (Mus musculus) after being induced by aspirin.
