Abstract

This study is a study of the Language Style in a speech on Youtube com with its subtitle,  entitled: President-elect Joe Biden stands on stage with his wife Jill, Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020, in Wilmington, Del. Transcript of President-elect Joe Biden’s victory speech Saturday night in Wilmington, Del., as delivered. Provided by the Biden campaign: The Language Style used by Joe Biden are: Repetition, Metaphor, Euphemism, Persuasion, Climax, Anti-tesis, Repetition, Rhetoric, Idiom, Literal Meaning, Persuasive Slogan.Language Style used by Joe Biden could give a positive comprehension, enthusiasm, motivation, understanding for the effectiveness of the audience as well as the listeners and the viewers. This  can be understood  from his speech that the audience often pay attention in each language style (can be seen on Joe Biden makes a history speech " in Wilmington.Messages can enhance 'understanding' or 'message comprehension'. The use of  Language Style  in Joe Biden speech can facilitate understanding. Complex ideas may be conveyed more clearly through Language Style or rhetoric. Stored messages can help to 'alert' a message. The use of various syntactic patterns or figurative words can help audiences remember an important element in the message. Abstract

This study focuses on the perceptions of students and teachers regarding the use of ICT media in learning English. This study also aims to determine the attitudes of students and teachers about the use and benefits of ICT media in learning and teaching in English classes and to find out the problemsfaced by teachers when using or operating ICT media in English classes. This study uses a descriptive quantitative approach applying survey. Data was collected from a survey in the form of giving a questionnaire or questionnaire, which involved 10 randomly selected students from grades VI and VII and two English teachers at SMP PGRI 3 Tuban. The quantitative data obtained were analyzed by calculating the percentage of each item and the average to draw conclusions descriptively. The findings of this study revealed a positive response from teachers and students regarding the use of ICT media in English classes, students felt that learning English using ICT media was more fun and not boring in class, they were also more enthusiastic in participating in English learning in class. class, students also feel more understanding of English material when the teacher uses the TIK or ICT to teach in the classroom. The teacher also responded very well where the teacher agreed with the use of ICT media in the classroom and the teacher felt the benefits of using the media but there were several obstacles faced by the teacher when using ICT, such as operating constraints. This study provides insight into how students and teachers view ICT as a teaching and learning tool that can help provide a better English learning experience, as well as identify the barriers teachers feel when using ICT media.

Abstract

This study aims to know the Contrastive Analysis Between English And Indonesian Suffixes In “The Rainbow Troops” Novel. This study was design in content analysis qualitative research because the object of the study was a novel. Moreover, as the data was in the form of words and field notes, so the data were analysed qualitatively. The researcher also conducted the analysis used contrastive analysis to more focus on differences and similarities of English and Indonesian suffixes. The instrument used to collect the data is the form of checklist. Based on the background of the case above, this study is conducted to analyze kinds of English and Indonesian suffixes and also analyze differences and similarities between English and Indonesian suffixes The result of this study showed in term on kinds of English and Indonesian suffixes are: a. Noun (-acne, -ence, -er, -or, -ist, -ian, -tion, -tion, -ness, ion, -ing, -ment, -ity, -ism, -dom, -ship, -ent, -ary, -ure, -tude, -hood, -eer, logy, -age, -ant); b. Verb (-ize/-ise, -ate, -ify, -en); c. Adverb (-ly) and; d. Adjective (al, -ar, -ic, -ical, -able/-ible, -ous, -ful, -less, -ish, -ed, -ive, -er, -ate,-ent, est). As for the Indonesian suffixes there are: a. Noun (-an, -is, -isasi, -isme, -itas, -wan/wati, -man); b. Verb (-an, -i, -kan); c. Adjective (-an, -al, -if, -is, -i, -iah). The result about the differences and similarities of suffixes between English and Indonesian suffixes in “The Rainbow Troops” Novel are: first the difference in English suffixes, the researcher only find any adverb (-ly, lovely, politely, wisely, etc). As for the Indonesian suffixes in “Laskar Pelangi” is nominal which include: (-an, jutaan, ribuan ratusan, etc). The similarities of suffixes English and Indonesian have three similarities, there are: Noun, Adjective and Verb.

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to find out the answer of statement of the problem: What is teaching of life found in Michael Jackson’s songs and how it described in Michael Jackson’s songs. This study uses descriptive qualitative research design in which it starts collecting and review research literature to provide the data and examine data for intention of the study. This research uses objective approach in analyzing the study, because the writer does not need to study at author’s life, background of the work, or background of the society but just analyzed the whole itself. The object of the study is Michael Jackson text songs which focused on the Teaching of life that found in Michael Jackson’s songs. The result of this research is that the writer finds some teaching of life related with moral, peace and love in Michael Jackson’s Songs. First, the writer finds teaching of life about moral covering struggle and equality in Michael Jackson’s songs entitled “Beat It”, “Black or White”. Second, the writer finds teaching of life about peace covering careness, brotherhood, and world peace in Michael Jackson’s songs entitled “Heal The World”, “Earth Song” and “Black Or White”. The last, the writer finds teaching of life about love covering love between human being and the importance of love for human life in Michael Jackson’s song entitled “I’ll Be There” and “Heal The World”.
