Abstract

This study investigates the impact of entrepreneurial orientation and halal orientation towards organizational performance among the micro-sized of food and beverages enterprises. Past literature showed a lesser amount of involvement of these enterprises that have been investigated so far towards their organizational performance. Therefore, this study aims to introduce and provide coverage related to entrepreneurial orientation and halal orientation among micro-sized enterprises. This study applies a quantitative method with a cross-sectional survey among the owners of the micro-sized enterprises located in the northern area of Kedah. Collection of data was done through a survey questionnaire via simple random sampling technique. The data were processed with SPSS (v.23). The results of reliability test and multiple regression analysis have shown that entrepreneurial orientation and halal orientation are indeed dissimilar in their effects on organization performance, but at the same time, they are connected to each other. It can be summarized that both of entrepreneurial orientation and halal orientation are important business strategies, but need to be investigated further. Since this is a pioneer study, more empirical works need to be done to clarify and generalize the population of micro-sized enterprises involve in halal F&B businesses in other states in Malaysia.

Abstract

The paper aims to identify the determinants of driving factors from FB manufacturers, among the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in Malaysia towards the acceptance of halal logistics services via 3rd party local service providers. The data for this quantitative study were obtained from 86 respondents via email approach. The research instrument was constructed from past studies and posted through Google Form and Gmail. The findings of this study exposed some important implications for academic's literature and practical for the halal logistics industry. The R2 value for the research model shows 0.724, indicating that 72.4% of the variance in the extent of the relationship can be explained by halal international logistics, the halal industry, and halal collaboration. Clearly, high demand from the international halal logistics, halal collaboration between the FB industrial sector and government agencies as well as high awareness of halal interests by customers are the factors that pressure on the SMEs to practice halal logistics services. Hopefully, the results of this study would contribute to the growth of research in the area of the halal industry.

Abstract

A research survey has been widely known by many scholars and is very important in data collection; however, it has a real disadvantage of its lower response rate. This is possibly due to incomplete comprehension on how this survey can be made to work effectively especially in supply chain industries that deal with confidentiality and various parties interest. Therefore, this study aims to provide comprehensive strategies that should be conducted to improve response rates. Meeting this aim, this study reviewed studies focusing on strategies to prepare a suggested survey to increase its response rate. Based on an extensive research in literature and local field, the authors found articles considered appropriate to be included in this synthesis. Two strategies were found to improve response rate using a effective survey: designing questionnaire and practical strategies. Designing questionnaire strategy has prominent factors in the beginning steps before sending a questionnaire. The latter is a critical step to get respondents feel that they like to fill a questionnaire. This study contributes to academic literature about how to improve response rate using comprehensive strategies where the previous studies have explained those findings partly.
