Abstract

This study investigates the impact of entrepreneurial orientation and halal orientation towards organizational performance among the micro-sized of food and beverages enterprises. Past literature showed a lesser amount of involvement of these enterprises that have been investigated so far towards their organizational performance. Therefore, this study aims to introduce and provide coverage related to entrepreneurial orientation and halal orientation among micro-sized enterprises. This study applies a quantitative method with a cross-sectional survey among the owners of the micro-sized enterprises located in the northern area of Kedah. Collection of data was done through a survey questionnaire via simple random sampling technique. The data were processed with SPSS (v.23). The results of reliability test and multiple regression analysis have shown that entrepreneurial orientation and halal orientation are indeed dissimilar in their effects on organization performance, but at the same time, they are connected to each other. It can be summarized that both of entrepreneurial orientation and halal orientation are important business strategies, but need to be investigated further. Since this is a pioneer study, more empirical works need to be done to clarify and generalize the population of micro-sized enterprises involve in halal F&B businesses in other states in Malaysia.

Abstract

Industrialized building system has been introduced in Malaysia as an initiative to promote the construction sector. One of the systems that are in use IBS is blockwork system which is an evolution of the use of conventional brick. Making the block has several parts or processes that must be taken to produce the component. Planning the layout of a manufacturing industry should be implemented taking into account all needs ranging from suppliers of raw materials until the final product to be distributed to customers. Supply chain management definitions focused on the physical movement of goods, i.e. total flow of materials from suppliers to end customers. From this we see SCM can help for designing the plant layout design. Workflow in and out of the raw material suppliers and the final product to the customer and facility management is necessary to ensure that employees or machine operator can perform the work safely and comfortably. The result shows that key management approach, proper planning and organized is the key facilitate the workflow of managing the layout of the production equipment and support services that are the backbone of a manufacturing industry.

Abstract

Poor ability to meet growing housing demands are a major problem for Malaysia. Despite the initiatives to move towards the uptake of Industrialized Building System (IBS), it has been hampered by fragmentation issues, a typical picture of traditional mentalities. “Joint Effort”, initiatives have the potential to rescue the current predicament however, the industry hesitance has been a major hindering factor. This paper reports the progress to date of on-going research aimed at developing a validated framework to facilitate “Joint Effort” uptake in Malaysian IBS projects. “Joint Effort”, being among the core component of Supply Chain Management (SCM), is a collaborative endeavor that has the potential to overcome fragmentations. It leans towards the creation of effective teamwork which benefits all parties at both short and long term. Encouraged by a few success cases, there is cautious optimism that it may as well benefit the Malaysian dilemma. This paper considers fragmentation as a major hindrance on IBS uptake, establishes the need to embrace “Joint Effort” initiatives and then elucidates the needs and strategies towards coming out with the final research framework. A combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches will be used and the final outcome will be a framework that proposes beneficial tools to curb the critical barriers to “Joint Effort” uptakes. It is expected that the framework would aid in improving IBS practices thus better able to meet the housing demands.

Abstract

Innovation capabilities of employees was considered as the main strategic activity of administered as a means of objective assessment of the individual performance of various professionals in MOI UAE. This study first aimed to identify whether employees’ innovation capabilities in MOI would exhibit better performance in UAE. Secondly, this study also aimed to identify the theoretical issues related with cultural and technological diversity with individual innovation capabilities and gave the ways to improve their performance in MOI UAE setting. This study proposes a conceptual framework for understanding innovation process and knowledge management aspects of innovation capability which would influence individual performance. The conceptual framework includes cultural diversity as mediating variable in the effect of innovation capability which would influence individual performance. The conceptual carry out through empirical review of literature and development of hypothesis. The adaption of well-structured questionnaire used in this study. The study also validates the proposed conceptual framework using a second-order confirmatory factor analysis technique, namely, structural equations modelling, with the data collected from 607 followers from 6 MOI departments in the UAE.

Abstract

Indoor environment much more important for people health and comfort than the outdoor environment for most people who spend most of their living times in industrialized countries lives in an artificial indoor environment. Along these lines, this research is to upgrade indoor environmental quality conditions for comfort and work performance of occupants in Kompleks Eureka, USM while conserving energy of the building. Detailed field investigations of the indoor environment in large office buildings in many parts of the world have documented that the indoor environmental quality is typically rather mediocre, with many people dissatisfied and many suffering from sick-building syndrome symptoms. Recent studies have shown an important impact of the indoor thermal environment on occupants work performance. Also studies on occupants medical leave show a very high loss of work time and working performance, which have important economical consequences for companies. The paper will mainly dealing with the indoor environmental qualities, such as thermal comfort level, air quality, lighting, and acoustic quality. The studies before showing that comfortable room temperatures, increased air ventilation above normal recommendation, comfortable acoustic surrounding will increases the work performance of occupants in Kompleks Eureka, USM.

Abstract

The paper aims to identify the determinants of driving factors from FB manufacturers, among the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in Malaysia towards the acceptance of halal logistics services via 3rd party local service providers. The data for this quantitative study were obtained from 86 respondents via email approach. The research instrument was constructed from past studies and posted through Google Form and Gmail. The findings of this study exposed some important implications for academic's literature and practical for the halal logistics industry. The R2 value for the research model shows 0.724, indicating that 72.4% of the variance in the extent of the relationship can be explained by halal international logistics, the halal industry, and halal collaboration. Clearly, high demand from the international halal logistics, halal collaboration between the FB industrial sector and government agencies as well as high awareness of halal interests by customers are the factors that pressure on the SMEs to practice halal logistics services. Hopefully, the results of this study would contribute to the growth of research in the area of the halal industry.

Abstract

This paper aims to investigate the adoption of Load Bearing Masonry LBM system among Malaysian housing developer companies as an important aspect in decision making process. A model based on the Information Diffusion Theory (IDT) was developed and tested using the Partial Least Square (PLS) approach. The research model has proposed that the perception of the organization such as the relative advantage towards LBM system adoption has a positive influence by the organizational readiness and external supports. A questionnaire was prepared to randomly collect the data. The questionnaires were distributed to the companies in Peninsular Malaysia only. The findings indicate that the relative advantage from Rogers innovation characteristics appears as the factor for the adoption of LBM system as well organizational readiness and external support. This paper to encourage policy makers to consider these factors in future actions plans to enhance the adoption of LBM systems in the construction industry especially in housing development.

Abstract

This paper aims to conceptualise the influence of certain organisational innovativeness factors and market orientation on environmental sustainability adoption by Malaysian large contractors. The framework developed in this study intends to establish the link between product innovativeness, process innovativeness, and market orientation (as predictors) and environmental sustainability (the criterion variable) using organisational readiness for change theory to underpin these relationships. Although, it is expected that the findings of this study can be used to develop strategies that could improve environmental sustainability adoption among these contractors, this study did not consider other factors that could also explain the environmental sustainability adoption. It is expected that this studys findings could assist in developing strategies to increase the rate of environmental sustainability adoption among the contractors. Again, it could also be useful for policy makers and other construction industry players.
