Abstract

Building trust among different stakeholders of the business and collaborative performance are two most desired organizational outcomes. Such across the board relations largely based on big data exists about these relationships which help to sort out the conflicts. Through the very same big data, manufacturing industry can also look after its external supply chain management practices too. This study has checked the impact of Big Data Analytics Capability (BDAC) on swift trust and collaborative performance in Thailand’s manufacturing sector. Moreover, study has also analyzed the mediating role of external supply chain management in relationship between BDAC and swift trust and BDAC and collaborative performance. Data has been collected from managerial level employees of 39 manufacturing firms of Thailand equipped with big data capability. Questionnaire based data was then analyzed through SPSS and AMOS. BDAC was reflected as a significant predictor of swift trust and collaborative performance in results. Indirect role of external supply chain management was also flagged significant in results. This study is novel due to inclusion of external supply chain management as mediator and it will have its implications for manufacturing sector which can improve their collaborative performance through BDAC driven supply chain management.

Abstract

Nowadays organizations are facing intensive competition regardless of the industry and scale of operations. Globalization has also heightened the competition between the firms. On the other hand the rising global environmental issues have also created a tough environment for organizations as they are already focusing to gain the competitiveness. The study has attempted to study the impact of effective waste management on the competitive advantage. While the study has also considered the green supply chain practices as a potential mediator. The data were collected from the employees working in manufacturing companies in Thailand. The findings revealed a positive association between waste management and competitive advantage. Further findings also revealed that green logistics and purchasing acts as a mediator between relationships of waste management and competitive advantage. The future direction are provided at the end of research paper.

Abstract

Oxygen of Thailand’s economy is its tourism industry which has also geared up all related sectors too. Country is making a lot of efforts to achieve sustainable tourism supply chain performance through Big Data Analytics (BDA) as without BDA, it was never possible to move towards sustainability for such a big industry. However, IT capability seems a missing piece in some cases which can decrease the effectiveness of BDA dimensions. Author has aimed to analyze the impact of BDA planning, investment, coordination and control on sustainable tourism development in moderating role of IT capability. Sample was consisted of those hotels and hospitality industry units which already have BDA system in operational phase and their employees were surveyed through questionnaire and responses were then analyzed on SPSS and AMOS for hypotheses testing. Results have enlightened that BDA dimensions have significant positive impact on sustainable tourism supply chain performance while IT capability was also found as positive and significant moderator too. None of the previous studies have taken IT capability as moderator but this originality in this study has long lasting implications for tourism and manufacturing industry to induce IT capability in their organizations to achieve sustainability.

Abstract

Globalization has diverted the attention of top executive sitting in big buildings towards global supply chains instead of organizational ones. Manufacturing organizations have also developed some systems like Internal Manufacturing Network Integration (IMNI) and network globalization to survive in global supply chains. However, these systems often need sustainability to perform well in global supply chains. This research has aimed to see the role of IMNI and network globalization in Thailand, producing assembled products, which include machinery, transportation equipment, automotive and electronics industrial sectors. The mediating roles of sustainable production and sourcing have also been analyzed in this regard. As far as methodology is concerned, middle and top-level management has been surveyed through questionnaire who belong from such manufacturing organizations of Thailand that are operating globally. SPSS and AMOS were used to analyze the data for reliability, confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling. Results have shown that both IMNI and network globalization have significant impact on global supply chain performance while mediating roles of sustainability sourcing and production were also significant in this regard. Originality of this study is in the fact that supply chain sourcing and production have not been previously used as mediators between network globalization, IMNI and global supply chain performance.
