Abstract

Abstract.  The objective of this research was to evaluate the effect of ensilage technology (with and without ensilage) and protein sources (plant and animal) in complete feed with ramie-waste on nutrient composition and ensilage parameter. Ensilage process decreased significantly dry matter (DM), organic matter (OM) and neutral detergent fiber (NDF), but it increased  ensilage parameter i.e. acetate acid (C2), propionic acid (C3), butyric acid (C4), lactic acid (LA), and decreased pH. It also had non-significant effect on crude fibre (CP), acid detergent fiber (ADF) and ammonia (NH3-N). Animal protein source in silage making decreased nutrient composition i.e. OM and CP and ensilage parameter i.e. C2, but it increased NH3-N.  Interaction between ensilage treatment and protein sources affected CP and pH also ensilage parameter of C2 and C3. In conclusion, plant protein used in silage of complete feed with ramie waste was better than animal protein, despite that both ensilage were not better due to pH over 4.5. Key words: ramie, ensilage technology, protein source, nutrient composition, ensilage parameter Abstrak.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to investigate the effect of commercial feed on hematological and carcass profiles of broiler chickens. A total of 1800 day old chick (DOC) broilers were administered in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) furthered by Duncan test. The treatments consisted of Feed A, B, C, D, E, and F.  The observed variables included hematology profiles (erythrocyte, hemoglobin, leukocyte, heterophil, lymphocyte, and monocyte) and performance (live weight, carcass percentage, breast, thigh, wings, shank, and head). The result showed that feed treatment did not significantly affect (P>0,05) hematology profiles and performance of broiler chickens, but significantly affected live weight (P<0,05). Conclusively, different types of commercial feed did not render physiological effect to DOC and safe for feeding until 35 days old to increase the live weight of broiler chickens.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to know the effect of breadfruit leaves flour in feed to blood profile and correlation between cholesterol, HDL and LDL of blood with meat cholesterol of maleTegal duck of 10 weeks old. The material used was Day Old Duck of male Tegal duck  as much as 120 heads with experimental research methods and Completely Randomized Design (CRD). There were 6 treatments: feed without breadfruit leaf powder, feed + breadfruit flour 3% / kg feed, feed + breadfruit flour 6% / kg feed, feed + breadfruit flour 9% / kg feed, feed + flour breadfruit 12% / kg feed, and feed + breadfruit flour 15% / kg feed. Each treatment was repeated 5 times and each replication consisted of 4 ducks. The variables observed were the number of red blood cells, white blood cells, HDL, LDL, blood triglycerides, correlation between cholesterol, HDL and LDL blood with meat cholesterol of male Tegal duck of 10 weeks old.  The result of the analysis showed that the supplementation of breadfruit leaves has significant effect (P <0,05) on the number of red blood cells, white blood cells, HDL, and blood triglyceride. There is a positive correlation between blood cholesterol with duck meat cholesterol which given breadfruit leaf powder. This research can be concluded that the supplementation of breadfruit leaf powder (Artocarpus altilis) can increase the number of red blood cells, white blood cells, blood HDL level but lowers blood cholesterol and triglyceride blood of male Tegal duck of 10 weeks old. Cholesterol meat is affected by blood cholesterol with regression coefficient of 0.780941, influenced by LDL (r = 0.407849), but negatively affected by HDL (r = -0.47022).

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the use of various liquid probiotics in drinking water on the quality of the reproductive tract and quail production. The study uses a Completely Randomized Design with directional pattern with four treatments, namely: quail gets drinking water without liquid probiotics (P0), quail gets drinking water with commercial probiotics A (P1), quail gets drinking water with commercial probiotics B (P2), and quail gets drinking drinking water with commercial probiotics C (P3), 5 replications and 5 quails in each study unit. Drinking water is given ad libitum with a liquid probiotic concentration of 2ml / liter. Quail feed contains 22.2% PK and 3032.5 kcal energy. The treatment affected the weight of the reproductive tract + eggs, egg weight and length of the reproductive tract, weight before slaughtered, weight after slaughtered, weight after hair removal, heart weight, gastrointestinal weight, (P <0.01) but had no effect on carcass weight, liver weight, follicular weight, gizard weight, digestive tract length and caeca length. The treatment of liquid probiotics in drinking water increases several indicators of quail reproduction and production.
