Abstract

A research has been conducted to study the use of agricultural and logging waste as litter materials in broiler rearing. Experimental method was used with completely randomized design. The treatments were the use of agricultural and logging waste as litter materials (L) consisting of L1 = rice hulls, L2 = rice straw, L3 = wood draff and L4 = saw dust. Parameters observed were litter moisture, production index and income over feed and litter cost (IOFLC). The experiment used 96 chickens, which were divided, into 24 cages. Statistical analysis showed that the use of agricultural and logging waste significantly (P<0,01) affected the litter moisture, production index and IOFLC. It could be concluded that rice straw, small plane wood and saw dust could be used as litter materials in broiler rearing. Abstract

Duck is one of the commodities that contribute to the national livestock production and Central Java is home to the fourth biggest duck population after West Java, South Sulawesi and East Java. The 2019 egg production in Central Java was 36.174 tons or 11.3% of the total egg production nationwide. Accordingly, it is important to investigate the effect of environmental factor, total number and age of ducks on egg production in Central Java. Specifically, this study aimed to observe the effect of region on egg production and feed conversion ratio (FCR) and the total livestock (chicken), age (month), stocking density (ducks/m2), internal housing temperature (oC), and humidity (%) on Hen day production/HDP. A survey engaging purposive random sampling was conducted on the population of duck farming in Central Java especially Tegal, Pemalang and Brebes districts. The data were subjected to General Linear Model (GLM) and a regression-correlation analysis using an SPSS program. The result showed that region significantly affected hen day production (HDP) but did not affect FCR. Housing temperature affected HDP by 14.9% and the higher the temperature, the lower the HDP. Duck age affected HDP by 11.7%, and the older the ducks the lower the egg production. Duck population, stocking density and humidity did not significantly affect egg production. Conclusively, duck egg production (HDP) is significantly affected by temperature inside the housing and the duck age.

Abstract

Background. This study aims to determine the differences in the size of combs and shanks and their correlation with various body weight of sentul chickens aged 18 weeks. Materials and Methods. The material used in the study consisted of 175 sentul chickens aged 18 weeks. This research was conducted using the experimental method using a Randomized Design Complete with treatment, namely Sa: sentul abu, Sb: sentul stone, Sd: centul dust, Se: centul gold and Sg: sentul geni. Data were analyzed using variance analysis and multiple linear regression to determine the relationship between the size of the comb and shank with body weight. Results. The results showed a variety ofsentul chickens having a long comb size and comb width that were significantly different (P> 0.05), but the width of the comb and shank size (P <0.05) were relatively the same. The results of the analysis of the Honest Significant Difference on the comb length variable showed that Sentul Dust and sentul Batu chicken were significantly different from Golden Sentul chicken and Sentul Geni chicken while the height of the comb showed that sentul Abu and sentul chicken chicken were significantly different from Sentul Ayam chicken and sentul chicken chicken. Conclusion. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that there is no difference in the size of the comb and various shanks of sentul chickens aged 18 weeks. Shank size determines body weight compared to the size of the comb.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of the interaction between the addition of egg yolk levels in skim milk (P) diluents and storage time (W) on the motility and abnormalities of kampung rooster spermatozoa. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with a factorial pattern of 3 x 3 with a P factor (P0 = skim milk + 0% egg yolk, P1 = skim milk + 10% egg yolk, P2 = skim milk + 20% egg yolk) and a factor W (W1 = 10 minutes, W2 = 40 minutes, W3 = 70 minutes) at room temperature of each treatment was repeated three times. ANOVA test results showed that each of the interactions of the P and W factors had a very significant effect (P<0,01) on spermatozoa motility and the polynomial orthogonal test results showed a highly significant linear effect (P<0,01) on each treatment interaction P and W. The percentage of motility produced by P0W1, P1W1, P1W2, P2W1, and P2W2 treatments is above 50% so it is still suitable for IB use. The best treatment interaction was shown by the interaction of P1 (skim milk + 10% egg yolk) with W1, W2, and W3 on the motility of spermatozoa forming linear lines with the equation y = -0,484x + 82,93 and the coefficient of determination (R2) of 0,995. ANOVA test results did not show any significant effect (P> 0.05) on the interaction of P and W on spermatozoa abnormalities and each factor had its own effect. P treatment had a very significant effect (P<0,01) and formed a linear line with the equation Y = 0,009 x + 0,079 with a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0,915, while the W factor had a significant effect (p <0,05) but had no significant effect (P>0,05) both linearly and quadratically. Abnormalities resulting from all treatments are below 20% making it suitable for insemination. From the results of this research it can be concluded that kampung rooster spermatozoa treated with an additional 10% and 20% egg yolk level stored up to 40 minutes at room temperature are still suitable for insemination.

Abstract

Background. The purpose of this study is to look at its effects on lenght and weight of oviducts. Materials and Methods. The research method used was experimental with a completely randomized design (CRD) with treatment P0 (basal feed plus probiotic 0 ml / kg of feed), P1 (basal feed plus probiotic 1 ml / kg of feed) and P2 (basal feed plus probiotic 2 ml / kg of feed) and repeated 6 times and involved 72 chickens. Results. The results showed that the addition of probiotics had no significant effect (P> 0.05) on oviduct length. The addition of probiotics does not increase the length of the oviduct, it is suspected that the dose of the addition of probiotics is not correct because the protein content is not according to the needs, the feed protein content is still low, namely between 15.81% - 16.71%, besides that the length of the oviduct is affected because the chicken has reached adulthood genitalia which causes the chicken oviduct to reach its maximum size, will peak at the time of puberty and increase during the period of production constantly. The addition of probiotics had no significant effect (P> 0.05) on the weight of the oviduct. This is presumably because the nutrient content of the feed is not perfectly absorbed by the digestive duct, and laying hens that have been rejected have experienced a lot of fat or remnants of secretions formation of an egg in the oviduct channel thereby affecting the oviduct weights. Conclusion. The conclusion of this study is that the addition of probiotics to laying hens commercial chickens has not been able to increase the length and weight of the oviduct. Based on the results of this study the authors suggest that research should be conducted using a higher.
